    Thanks.
Forgive me for the delayed response while I was bonking away in Pattaya.

4 days is possible but a suit fitted in quick time would look as much. One was almost 5. 5 K Baht and the other was a little under 7 K Baht last year.

Hundred times this. There are very few posters (for instance ThatAsshole or Opebo) who occasionally bring us reports off the beaten track. Virtually nobody follows up on their exploits.

It would be nice if this website had the form of a wiki (sorted by area / town), so it's obvious which information is abundant and which is lacking, plus making it more worthwhile to fill in the details. In the current format, the often-discussed places tend to be discussed even more, and the oddball ones get ignored and buried even if somebody bothers to write a thorough high-quality report on them.

This is not only an issue with the Bangkok section, it's all over the site (also KL and Jakarta, for one).

    It occurs to me

That as I plan my next November trip (and seek up-to-date information) that the scope of this board is incredibly limited.

There just is nothing new. Mere amplification of tedious detail on a very limited number of places*. And the same is true of the web. Look up "Bangkok Massage Parlours. Top ten" - and all the reports cover virtually the same places. Night life reports are not just constrained to NEP, Soi Cowboy and Patong but also to the same three or four bars in each place. The same applies to Pattaya and Phuket.

    * and excruitiatig arguments as to whether or not 'A' is a better lay than 'B. '

It is all a bit like country guide books. Each edition reinforces previous editions because visitors / reporters never get outside the places in the guide book.

I am deliberately making a list of places to avoid. And 'tho I may visit NEP and Soi Cowboy it will not be to any bars recommended here.

Time both locals and visitors "explored. ".

The express train is suspended indefinitely last I read. But the local doesn't take that much longer, maybe 15 minutes and is 1/3 the cost.

I have't seen long lines that didn't move in BKK in years. Either it was someone who hit rush hour or someone referring to DMK. It does seem DMK is a transportation disaster for arrivals.

Bobby is manager / owner and is an international example of excellent customer service, greeting you with cold beer or gin and tonic while you pick style and material. Probably not the cheapest suit in Bangkok, but well worth it. He suggests 7 days for suit, but can turn it around in 3-4 if necessary. They used to be right at entrance of Nana Plaza (big plus, you could sneak out back door) but moved to exit of Nana BTS, sharing space with On 8 Hotel.
Raja's is simply the best. Not the cheapest; just the best. Bobby will take good care of you.

"Tailor on Ten" also comes highly recommended. http://www.tailoronten.com/. They are actually not on Sukhumvit Soi 10, but at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 8.

It takes about 5 days to get your suit ready and the quality is really top, but don't expect "cheap" here. Their shirts are also very nice, with mother of pearl buttons and stitched monogram if you wish.

Monte Carlo Tailors or Narin Couture Tailors

There are hundreds of custom tailors throughout Bangkok, but the Monte Carlo Tailors and Narin Couture are two custom tailors that are highly rated:

    Monte Carlo Tailors http://www.mctailor.com/.

    Narin Couture http://www.narin-couture.com/home.html.

Many years ago, I made the mistake of buying several "custom" suits in Bangkok. I should of known better when the tailor shop's "high pressure" sales pitch made me feel like I was buying a used car. After I got home, buttons began to fall off; stitching began to unravel; fabric began to sag; etc. It was one of the most expensive and disappointing experience that I've had in Bangkok, but the blame was all on me. I wanted cheap; and I got cheap.

    New Visa rules

    As reported by Stickboy (http://www.stickboybangkok.com/news/...bodian-border/).

Thai immigration have suspended 15 and 30 day visa exemption stamps for foreigners coming into the country across the Cambodian border, effective immediately.

The news broke late on Friday night of changes to the rules and many reported on Saturday visa runners at Cambodia and Kanchanaburi border crossings were told if they left Thailand they could not re-enter the country on a visa exemption stamp.

Holders of valid Tourist Visas can still exit and re-enter to activate their second or third entries as normal. Holders of multiple entry visas are also unaffected by these new rules.

UPDATED: Today, Sunday 13th, Aranyaprathet, Ban Packard & Kanchanaburi border crossings were NOT allowing holders of valid visas to exit and re-enter.

The rumour is the restrictions will be lifted in a few days with new rules stating visitors can only stay a maximum of 90 days in a calendar year using visa exemption stamps.

Unfortunately there has been no official announcement from the immigration department but one would suspect the measures are a knee-jerk reaction to the recent exposure of corrupt immigration officers that came to light during the Bangkok bombing investigation.

No reports have emerged so far of any changes at the Malaysian or Laos border crossing checkpoints and it is business as usual at all international airports.

I have seen in many Bangkok taxis a printed tariff to most of the other cities in Thailand. It looked rather "official" (but one can never be sure of course) and the prices were quite reasonable and based upon a fixed price per km.
