I've been taking the BKK-CM train for almost 40 years and have never seen nor heard of such activity.

Well now you've heard of it. It was the food & drink girls providing the service, and I knew one of them quite well -- a Payap student no less. This would have been back around the early 1980s.

for the first time in 2008, i got stunned yesterday! left speechless by something i saw on soi 4 near annies parking lot.

i was walking towards annies when i saw a cop (yes, a real one with gun and uniform, not your garden variety "rent a cop") strip from his uniform, shoving it in the trunk of his car, then putting on jeans, a tshirt and a moto-taxi orange jacket.

he closed the car, hopped on a honda click and went on his way.

was he on a "special undercover mission"? or just working 2 jobs? well, that taught me not to argue with moto-taxis anymore, you never know who these people really are.

i know a cop who sells curtains, eggs (yes! ) and several other things when he's not on duty. so, it seems that at least a few of them need to have more than one job. i guess that those don't have the opportunity to get much tea money or are simply. honest?

Depending on his seniority, that guy probably makes between 8.000 and 15.000 bath per month in legit salary, which is as you are aware not much to raise a family on in BKK. University graduated civil servants start with 10.000bath nowadays.

And a 21 year old uneducated isan MP girl I know pays 12,000 baht a month in rent for her condo and still takes home over 60 K a month.... not including money from the sponsors she has...

IMHO You are worrying too much. No need. I am not smoking but have been going to Thailand a lot. Never had or heard of on the spot testing.

They used to spot check from time-to-time, but not so much these days and was more targeted towards Thai.

Don't do drugs and you are safe, also don't carry them either in the past the BiB have checked farangs (including me) around the Washington Square!

Don't worry about this. I been there and done that! She got to the point in the relationship to test your old ass! To see whether she got a man or a child like her ex-boyfriends who did carry her purse until they got tired of her bullshit and their friends ripping ripping them for having no balls. Women in general and especially in Thailand seem to want to prove who's has the stronger will. Prior to being marry I was with this Thai girl and when ever I saw her in BKK things were great never had a problem. Out of the blue one day we disagreed on something in front of her friends. Not to loose face she spoke but in half Thai and English to her friends right in front of me. I quickly figure it out from her statement basically that we will see who is stronger the will of a Thai women or a American Farang? This is when you no longer are wearing the pants! After a few minutes I got up and told her girlfriends goodbye, paid the bill, gave them taxi money and I left.

Back home (outside Thailand) I have met quite a few Thai girls from rich families, not as a GF, but only as aquaintences.

I often find them to be spoiled little brats not used to doing any real work and wanting to be waited on hand and foot. Many are not good GF material.
In Thailand, not everyone is considered equal.

Girls from a background of some hardship may turn out to have a better character (but not always).
