If they Pheu Thai do get power again, recall that it's Thaksin who started the first major crackdown on nightlife, back around 2002 or so. He's very anti-nightlife, and those policies tend to be popular with most Thais, so others sometimes copy them too. So, no good news expected on that front. I don't think there was ever any promise to extend it, it was just a proposal by TAT.
