    Domestic travel

Anyone have recent experience. Yesterday, today. With in country travel? A Brit who maintains a regular Twitter feed cautioned about checkpoints coming in and out of BKK, and urged us not to head off to the seaside.

I have papers, residing legally in Thailand, and a car. I want to know if I can either fly or drive out of BKk without a major headache!

I've got women in Pattaya and Phuket urging me to come see them.

    Fake number of reported cases

On other extreme we have Thailand which had reported just one Covid-19 death (when I checked). It is highly likely that not all dead persons are being tested for the virus.

Sudden deaths due to fevers in the country villages have long been common, precise cause not always known, exposure to contaminated water via an injury just one example.

So Thailand death rate due to this virus could well be greatly understated (not known). Its too expensive to test dead people. Who will pay? Old people are popping off all the time for one reason or another.

Thailand likely has little idea of true numbers of cases, whether mild or deaths or recoveries.
I KNOW the reported numbers are wrong. Two days ago an American friend living near Buriram called me. He was in the hospital with the Wuhan virus somewhere in that area. He could barely speak and I couldn't ask him a lot of questions. That same night I went online to read how many cases were in the area. The area Governor (or whatever he is called) was reporting no cases in the area. Total bullshit.

"The emergency decree comes into effect at midnight on Wednesday {25th}, and remains in force through April 30. ".

This DOESN'T mean that the borders are certain, or even likely to re-open on 1 May.
Also, it looks like a curfew has not yet been imposed after all. But, according to this report, if one is imposed it might be a rougher one than suggested earlier; possibly a 24 hour curfew. Damn. How does that work after the 4th or 5th day? Or do they mean one 24-hour curfew? Accomplishing what?

    https://www.bangkokpost.com/learning...-no-curfew-yet
However, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said a curfew might be imposed later if considered necessary.

He added that if the government does go ahead with imposing a curfew, it will be different from previous curfews which were only imposed at night.

"The curfew for Covid-19 is likely to cover 24 hours, with exceptions for individuals seeking medical treatment, those going to court or those working in broadcasting services."

Good idea S. But if your skills don't and are unlikely to go beyond boiling a kettle no real need to.

Although I gather those in malls are totally shut down you can still walk in and get a take away from lots of eateries. I personally use the food hall at Tops Chit Lom.

Apart from the odd Pizza I was never much of a food delivery guy, prefer eating out but now that that's no longer possible I cannot believe how much variety there is in home delivery.

Food delivery services such as Food Panda, Grab Food, Lineman and others are terrific with an amazing variety of goodies.

Another alternative, divide your little black book into those that can cook and those that cannot and make their preparing a meal part of the visit. In my experience not all for sure but lots of Thai girls just love to cook for their man.

However you put food on the table stay safe.

Nope, you are not wrong. Figures quoted have to be greatly understated. Figures through much of SE Asia cannot be trusted.

On one extreme you have Italy with death numbers exceeding the number of cases recovered. Lack of testing of mild cases means their death rate could well be over stated.

A country with likely more realistic figures is Germany with capacity to test 160000 cases per week. This means most can be tested.

On other extreme we have Thailand which had reported just one Covid-19 death (when I checked). It is highly likely that not all dead persons are being tested for the virus.

Thailand likely has little idea of true numbers of cases, whether mild or deaths or recoveries.

I know examples of persons recovered from bad cough and fever, yet exact type unknown.

Even if high heat and humidity is limiting the speed of spread of the virus in the air and from surfaces and then mainly from those breathing in the sneeze and cough spray of others close, it won't be decreasing the deadliness for those that catch it.

Learn to cook you guys, or buy prepared food and microwave zap it. I have long been able to survive without restaurants.

Always wise to have your regular contacts for a fuck, as long as they are definitely not sneezing or coughing and have no symptoms, its unlikely they will give you something.

Avoid getting faces too close to each other just in case. Getting a fuck is still realistic from a non emotional point of view.

Little point to enter Thailand only to go into quarantine.

Thai word for the day: Kak (sounds like Guk) means to be isolated or quarantined. "Kak dtun" or "Guk dtoon" on other hand means to hoard food, drink, or toilet paper etc. Many of us in Thailand of course don't need toilet paper, since we have the water spray guns.

It just so happens I have been having a holiday from mongering for a few months, so I probably won't break that just now. Not really relevant to the virus.

There is still a lot not known about then new virus but most experts believe it is more contagious and more lethal than the common flu. Ultimately total deaths depend on containment. Fortunately what we are living through will most probably limit the spread but an out of control contagion until the vaccine comes on line while I still believe is unlikely is nevertheless a scary proposition.

    Stay well.
    Allegedly Chinese have the cure.

And a lot of them are being put in quarantine. I just picked up a girl on Tinder that is in Pattaya. Long story but she works in Malaysia and came to Thailand to renew her passport. Her mom said if she comes to her hometown she will have to do 14 day quarantine at the temple.
