"Six places defined as dangerous zones".
"The government has defined four countries and two territories as dangerous zones and restrictions may follow to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus.
The announcement, dated Monday and published in the Royal Gazette on Thursday, classified South Korea, China, Macao, Hong Kong, Italy and Iran as "dangerous communicable disease areas".
No quarantine measure has been officially announced, but Public Health Ministry spokesman Rungrueng Kitphati told Reuters on Thursday it would come into effect on Friday.
"Thais and foreigners who came from these places would have to go through self-quarantine for 14 days at home or in a hotel room, where they have to report themselves to the authorities every day or officials will come to check on them," Dr Rungrueng said.
The message here is ominous. No one is going to visit Thailand if a self quarantine is put into effect that means you can't leave your hotel or move around freely and the Thai Government knows this. Fortunately, my flight is through Narita, but this announcement makes me nervous, not the friggin' virus, which is just a bat flu. The odds of my visiting LOS this April just went down a tad, just like the stock market. 555. The odds of my visiting Sao Paulo just went up a tad.
Interestingly, I had dinner tonight with a couple friends at a favorite Italian restaurant in south Florida, USA. There must have been 100 customers in the restaurant drinking, dining, and having a nice night. No panic here. The weather was balmy.

Posts: 53New Government Restrictions- Airline Connections
List of countries and territories at high risk of the Covid-19 infection: Japan, Germany, South Korea, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Taiwan, France, Singapore, Italy, and Iran.
After seeing the above information, I wonder how this may or may not affect Airline Connections coming into BKK. Coming from US West Coast I go thru Taiwan on Eva, will this cause the required quarantine and 14 day health checks?

Posts: 6306Pretty important post if you are from one of the following countries
List of countries and territories at high risk of the Covid-19 infection: Japan, Germany, South Korea, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Taiwan, France, Singapore, Italy, and Iran.
All returnees from these nations and territories must self-quarantine for 14 days, he said.
Ministerial announcements specify the following four measures for enforcement:
Visitors and Thai citizens returning from the high risk areas will be subject to 14-days home quarantine, even if they are cleared of the disease, unless they have permission from health officials.
Those who do not have a permanent residence or lodging in Thailand are required to show officials, upon arrival, evidence of where officials can locate them during the 14-day period.
Tourists will be required to show where they will be staying for 14 days after arrival. That would mean you will need to book your hotel for 14 days and not book an AirBNB since AirBNB is illegal in Thailand. If you really must use AirBNB in Thailand which I don't, you can book a hotel which has free cancellation, show Thai Immigration you are staying there, and then cancel your hotel. You do take the chance that somehow Thai immigration finds out you are not staying where you said you were and deports you with no return for 5 years on your record. Remember hotels are required to tell Thai Immigration when you check in and check out of their hotel. Imo best to be safe and stay in a hotel your next visit.
These new rules will affect myself since I was planning to do a FKK tour in Germany on my way to Bangkok. Now to get to Bangkok I will have to fly Germany to Jakarta, hobby in Jakarta for a week, then to Bangkok. Since Indonesia does not record the number of coronavirus cases it is a safe destination that will not be subject to the newly imposed Thailand quarantine. Vietnam, Philippines, and Cambodia appear to not report all their cases as well so those would be other options to fly in from. I'll predict that the USA will eventually make it on a Thailand quarantine list with their recent outbreak.

Hey lads,
Do you know if it is possible to get a prepaid debit or similar in Thailand to spring for a Smooci Premium membership? I'm heading to Thailand in a couple days and want to get a membership (can't actually sign up for premium until I have a phone over there), but I don't want to pay with my regular debit or credit cards.
If anyone can offer me advice on how to sign up without using my real cards, I'd appreciate it.

Now go to Windy.com twitter feed:

They are the forcasting company who's images have been wrongly interpreted for what they are not. And they actually link themselves to the article I quoted.
You can also look at the english fact checking NGO:
https://fullfact.org/health/satellit...e-coronavirus/
There is even someone from the NASA explaining how the forecasting model works and how its not based on live data.
Stop taking us for idiots by spamming false news here. Not even sure how its related to Bangkok General reports to start with.
