I have to put up with religious mini lectures from the Mrs. Especially Kharma and reincarnation, Ha ha. Met her in 2005. Religious stuff is only mildly interesting but can affect our mongering activities slightly.

So it appears that alcohol cannot be sold on 5 Buddhist holidays, set in law since 2015 but observed before that I am sure. Hotels maybe exempt.

Also in 2 days before elections.

Also not before 11 am and not between 2 pm and 5 pm.

The last rule is supposedly to stop school children buying alcohol, but that reason is clearly nonsense. Ids of buyer can be checked.

Those little Potato like fruits are probably Longkong (sounds like long-gong) and known as Langsat in English (other names Duku and Lanzones in Philippines), if size of large marbles. They have several white segments inside with a seed in possibly each segment. I quite like them. Not as sweet and perfumy tasting as Lamyai (Longan). Linjee (Lychee) is my favourite though if tangy. My dictionary lists Thai words Longkong and Langsat, so possible they are very slightly different varieties. I believe the main reason that they are not allowed is that they breach the Government tobacco monopoly, although I have also have heard suggestions that Vape devices potential for use as a delivery medium with illicit drugs (E. G. Meth or THC as you were proposing) also plays a role in not allowing their possession, use, sale or distribution.

Smuggling anything and is about the dumbest thing you can do, unless you got a ton of money and a ton of connections to smuggle in a lot and pay the appropriate bribes.

That being said, if you know what you're doing, you can even get USA style weed in Thailand.

How bad of an idea is it to bring in a vape pen or possibly some edibles, like gummies? Though leaning towards a vape pen. In general, I've avoided all drugs on my trips through Asia, including marijuana. The penalty doesn't seem worth it. I had read recently that Thailand was venturing into the medical marijuana scene, so maybe they are starting on the road to decriminalization. I think vape pens are pretty discreet. I've flown with them domestically in the States and no one gives them a second look. So any thoughts? Major bad idea?
