The minoxidil did not effect my libido, but I did have systemic effects from it such as shortness of breath, puffy eyes, etc. Happened to me on three different occasions. The sides kicked in after about a month of use and took a few weeks to abate after stopping. Perhaps it was due to using a local brand where quality control is not so good. I don't know.

My doctor went straight to the Androgel without any other suggestions. It was easy, it works, and was covered by insurance. I have different insurance now that doesn't pay for Androgel. I'm considering different treatments as well as different insurance.

I'm in USA so this sort of treatment needs to be prescribed by my doctor. I can make requests, but I cannot just get any treatment that I want.

In light of Robert Long's positive comments on testosterone, I thought I'd quantify my description of "Painfully expensive in USA" for the gel. I use Androgel 1.62% and I'm just finishing the last little bit that was paid by insurance. I need 2 pumps per day of 1.62% Androgel to get to just 350 total testosterone and 4 pumps per day to get to 450 total testosterone. Looking at online Rx price references, I'm expecting 2 pumps per day to cost about $21/day and the 4 pumps per day to cost about $42 per day.

Different people use different amounts of this stuff. I'm impressed with level of 1000 at age 72, I doubt that I could get there.

I've noticed that online prices show there is generic Androgel 1.0% available. This will probably cost about $3 per day or $6 per day for similar amount of testosterone. Still not cheap.

He wrote side effects. That does not imply libido problems at all from Minoxidil. Generally Doctors consider Propecia as the most effective one for Hair loss but like you, I would not touch it.

I took some serious medication maybe 25 years ago for acne. Change of diet probably would have been far more effective. I now have to live with skin problems that are most likely side effects (un documented) that came after that. It is better not to take things that are not really necessary.

Too many antibiotics also stuffed my metabolism as well. We often pay the price. Hair loss maybe not such a huge problem. I just wish it would be lost from balls, armpits, and ass. LOL.

If have low testosterone, most beneficial things reported on web were: More sleep, keep weight down, exercise. Suppliments considered to be quite useless by many experts.

DHEA was more useful for other things. E. g. Depression, blood pressure, skin aging, etc. A possible side effect of DHEA was hair loss.

I've been using minoxidil for a couple of years and have never seen info on possible low libido side effects. In conjunction with minoxidil I also used Finasteride (Propecia generic) and that absolutely lowers your libido and also robs you of your ejaculate.

As soon as I knew what was going on I stopped the Finasteride and have continued with minoxidil. Another thing, if you exercise regularly that is also a fountain of youth.

My prescription is Testosterone CYP / Anastrozole 200 MG which I draw from a vial and use 185 MG into my leg muscle. Once a week. The Anastrozole is a female hormone that they say is needed. This is premixed. They also say when on this regiment that our body stops making testosterone which is a natural reaction. It's ok because it was so low that the replacement takes over and fulfills the bodies needs.

Well that is a huge difference in price similar to comparing Sidegra with Viagra. LOL.

I am somewhat younger and in reasonable condition, but I do notice I can go for even 3 weeks with no sex when very busy working. Perhaps this is a worry and means I need testing badly. Testoterone is also available in a gel form that you rub on your shoulders every day. Very easy. Painfully expensive in USA.

I've been on the regiment for 4 years. Very happy with the results. They test every 6 months for blood count, T levels and prostrate condition. Yes it's expensive and so what?
