    Connecting in ICN

I've done that exact trip many times, and Asiana is one of the finest airlines in the business. The crew is fantastic, the planes are spotless, the food is great, and you're going to love your trip. Having said that, however, they have no control over weather conditions, and planes sometimes run late due to many factors. SFO is known for delays due to fog this time of year, and the weather in Seoul is equally unpredictable. I'd be very leery of a 1 hour layover.

So I always book my trip with a few hours of layover. It gives me a chance to enjoy the many amenities at ICN, including showers, so my next leg to BKK is very enjoyable. And there is a hotel in the airport that can be rented in 6 hour blocks, rather than a full day. I always rent a room, take a nice nap and a shower, have a nice meal at the airport, and I'm totally refreshed and ready for the rest of my journey.

Airlines aren't going to sell you a ticket with a connection if there isn't enough time to make the connection. Sure it might seem tight but like another said they pretty much got it down. From my experience whenever a flight connection is really tight as you are deplaning usually there are customer service agents with signs looking for those passengers with short connections. They are there if needed to guide you through security ASAP so you can make the connection instead of waiting in line unnecessary. If there isn't someone and you are concern you can air out your concerns at the transfer desk and they usually if someone is missed call down the gate to hold. In general they sell you a ticket and leave you behind in a connection there are penalties against the airline plus they for example must put you on another flight, Airline, hotel, meals etc.

The one thing I can add to what has already been said is the transfer security checkpoints at Incheon can be a royal pain in the ass. I have gone through them for Asiana flights a number of times and although I don't recall whether the lines were long, the scrutiny they apply to carry-on baggage can be more substantial than TSA or other Asian checkpoints I have gone through. In a number of instances they made me take everything out of my carry on luggage and ran everything through the scanner, adding precious minutes to the time I had to spend at the checkpoint. Note, however, I tend to travel with a lot of electronics, such as cameras, lenses, tablets, laptops, and accessories and it takes me awhile to both remove everything and then re-pack it. So my advice is in order to maximize the chance you will make your connection, try to travel light with regard to carry-on items and also get to the security checkpoint as quickly as possible after your plane arrives so any delays at the security checkpoint won't make you miss your connecting flight.

    Good luck!

Have some delay when departing SFO, get some headwind along the route, arrive out of your slot at destination and wait for a gap in the landing sequences to fit in and you are cutting it really close.

By running you may still make it to your gate in time, but what about your luggage?
You may well be right; I certainly would not argue the point. I was under the impression that if his connecting flight on to BKK left without him it is likely that they also left without 20 or more other passengers who were on his original flight and also bound for BKK. And for that reason the "delay" is now transferred to the onward flight as it waits for everyone and hopefully their luggage to get there. I'm sometimes naively optimistic though.

Hi Shemp. I don't know your carrier, but before Thai Air discontinued its North American flights, a stop at Seoul was a part of the last routing. It was billed as a "technical stop". You land, get off the plane, go through security (yes, on arrival--same as at Narita), go upstairs and immediately go to your gate for boarding. You never encounter security and technically never enter ROK.

For Thai Air, you would re-board the same aircraft (cleaned and refueled during the hour). (You cannot leave anything on board the aircraft.) I suspect your airline is doing something similar. I wouldn't worry about the time on the ground, but you definitely don't have time for a meal or a nap. Hope this is helpful / reassuring. TTG.

If both segments on Asiana Airlines, it should be real easy. You might even be able to swing by the lounge if you have access.

Flying 101. Check with your carrier. Don't rely on what people tell you here. Ask the right people who have all your particulars. Asiana is a full service airline.

Just make sure the pilot is not using GPS to land! LOL.

As crazy said. Look for the Transit sign or ask the staff waiting outside when you arrive. If you really want to plan. Check the arrival times for the past several flights from SFO and the Thai departure times. You should be able to find the gate numbers too. SFO might arrive early.

Yeah, you'll be ok. When you arrive follow the signs to Transit. At some point you'll see a reader board where you'll look for your next flight number and what gate to go to. You will end up going through another security point with your carry-ONS. Then you'll go find your gate as you wander through something like a shopping mall. One hour is good, they should just about be boarding your onward flight if all is on schedule.

The new Pattaya baht bus routes

I have a question about Route 4 and was hoping someone has already taken it. Question 1 is does it go in both directions to / from Bali Hai to the Naklua Lan Pho market? It looks like it starts at Bali Hai Pier (ie. Mixx disco), goes along 3rd Road, then cuts down to Pattaya-Naklua Road. Am I correct? Are they readily available at Bali Hai Pier at 3 am as I am leaving Walking Street?

If anyone has a better map of the new routes please post.

IMHO, you cannot take what girls say at face value. It is sometimes hard to fathom the situation if you listen to their dribble and try to understand them. When you want to get to the last act, you have to at least appear interested in their feelings, idea, and welfare. And appear to be intently interested in what they are saying. As Benicio del Toro said in the Heineken ad, I have been working on that look for 15 years.
