Has anyone heard of any Air Asia promotional fair between BKK and JKT of $41 usd one way ? Their website isn't making it obvious if it indeed exists.

I wouldn't doubt it. In September I paid $23 from Singapore to KL and I did book it on their website.

My current phone is an iPhone and it is locked. I don't plan to use it in Thailand. So I will have to buy a cheap phone in the US before I go if I do buy one. That's why I was asking for advice. Should I buy in the US and take a $60-$70 phone that will not be useful to me except in Thailand? Or is there a better option when I arrive? Thanks,

You can buy simple mobile phones for less than $25us everywhere in Bangkok or Pattaya. Unless you are planning on extensive texting, or web use, they are fine. Just get a cheapo phone and a SIM card and you'll be all set. You can even call back to to the US cheap (5 baht/min) if you use 009 as a prefix to the US number.

You can also buy a cheap phone in Thailand (for less than $50). That's if you really need a phone while on holiday here, of course (to each his own, but I've survived without one during numerous sojourns here when I was just a tourist).

I don't see the point of renting a phone.

You could always get your present phone unlocked if your present phone is not very good.

No point in taking a really flash phone with you to LOS you have more chance of getting it stolen.

I use 12call you can get the sim at the airport 99bht and also add credit I normally get 300bht to start of with.

Sorry but unfortunately I was sprayed in BKK, someone just asked about the holiday in the Pattaya forum.

I know you love Pattaya so much Nic.... so just for you I saw this and I thought, now this guy could be a current, ex, or maybe future Pattaya resident.

Its not funny guys. He must be suffering from some sort of mental breakdown/illness. Many people go through lots of emotional breakdowns. Its really sad that folks are making immature comments on this forum. You should admire that he has not jumped off the building yet or trying to shoot people around and kill his wife for insurance.

He is not even Thai, i know i know what im saying sound cocky and out there., but i don't see any reason for funny remarks for a naked old man with a mental issue.

Air Asia is known for their many year round promotions and extremely low fares. Your best move would be to contact them directly and ask for clarification
