There are plenty of guys here (like me) in their 50s and older who DO have some semblance of a pot to [CodeWord140] in and have also banged...maybe not 1000s of girls...but 100s and are living their lives to the fullest, with hot girls on their arms and money in their jeans.

Unless they have money stashed away or are retired and on a pension and are merely teaching for something to do (and to get a work permit and visa, perhaps), these individuals are just underachieving wasters, IMO.

One wonders what motivates a 40-something man (99% are men, afterall) to come here and work for such a paltry sum. A criminal record, perhaps?

Admittedly 35,000/month provides an ok lifestyle upcountry. But, you still can't save anything and can't go anywhere. So what happens? These guys fritter away their lives, and suddenly find themselves in their 50s and 60s without a pot to [CodeWord140] in or a wall to throw it over. I've seen it happen all too often here.

I repeat. At that age, unless one's making at least 100k/month here, one should be doing something better with one's life.

Hi Hummer, May not be high enough quality for you but I've just bought a Sanyo Xacti CA65 and am quite pleased with it. It allows you to take 6MP stills whilst shooting video and the quality of the stills is adequate. Another plus is that it records video in H264 format onto SD Cards so the camera is tiny and the cards easily secreted in your luggage. Low light performance is excellent for such a tiny camera. Its also waterproof to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes so great for those shower shots or messing about on the beach.
Being a hybrid its doesn't really excel as either camera or camcorder but its performance is acceptable for most purposes.

I picked one up on my last trip, gotta say I am kind of happy with it. I use a regular camera and I shoot two Sony DCR-SR82 with me but this little Xacti was fun in the water and got some shots that I could have gotten without it being waterproof. Plus the TGF loved playing with it in the water. The video quality was adequate by good standards and would be perfect for most average users. The format works fine in all my editing software.

Now... I need to upgrade my still camera... I did upgrade my Sony HD video cameras (the DCR-SR82's) recently to some semi pro items but I am terrible at still life.

I know there are some quality still life photographers out there... what camera and selection of lenses can I get for under 1 K USD in BKK (gotta shop in BKK) or should I just pick up a small pocket camera and keep using those types. But I need one that is idiot proof. Very hard (for me) to get close and wide angle shots IMHO while doing the work. Much prefer to run two or three video's around the place then trying to screw around with a camera. But want to upgrade my still camera equipment.

In past visits I have always managed to take some Viagra, Cialis or the like back to Australia without any problem. Not even sure if that is legal.
However, its been a while since I've been back and unfortunately won't be back for some time and I'm now running low on supplies.
My question is - Am I likely to have any problems importing pills from an internet provider back to Australia? Viagra etc are prescription but not sure what interest Customs would take.

I have seen a BBC documentary, shot in India, about fake medicines. They can reproduce almost everything without being able to see any difference in the packaging. They can put any percentage of the main incredient in the pills e.g. 7%

Here is a link from Argentina. I've never used them because you can get everything in the pharmacies easy there. Check them out if you decide to order via mail. They look legitimate to me. Try the generic ones made in Argentina. They will do the job perfectly.

Not sure about Australian customs, but be aware that a lot of the internet sites are selling fake pills. And once you send them the money, you can kiss it goodbye. Try to see if have any friends who can bring them to you. Sorry, could not be of much help.

I tought this could be of interest to members here in the Forum:

The story about police hunting down Internet posters has been debunked on the Pattaya boards. It was an attempt (quite successful, actually) to attract attention to a blog that otherwise had about five readers. But in the end, the only result has been to make the guy behind the blog an object of derision. The blog's author has been forced to significantly revise his original article because he got it so wrong.

To be sure, you can get into a lot of trouble for taking dirty pics in Thailand and even the mild topless stuff counts as pornography. If the police happen to discover locally made pornography featuring Thai girls on your computer/camera/DVDs/whatever, you can be in for a hell of a hassle. That's a very good reason for not taking nude pics, much less hard-core stuff.

However, it's not true that the Thai police are using Internet boards to "hunt down" amateur photographers. On occasion, the BIB have gone after PROFESSIONAL pornographers who run pay sites, but there is no indication they have gone looking for girls whose pictures appeared on Internet boards in order to squeeze amateur photographers.
