I was once in BarBar, November last year. This year April it was closed for renovation. There is another bar of that kind somewhere in Sukomvith (soi 50+) called castle or so. There is also a castle bar in Pattaya.

Well, BarBar in Patpong II has the same setup and prices like castle bar in Pattaya. In the castle bar in Bangkok I was never.
You have to pay a entrance fee from 900 Bath, which includes a drink if I am not wrong. Inside are some girls. Mostly not too good looking. Since I was the only guest I was surrounded by many girls as soon I had a sit a the bar. The girls starts a show for me. Spanking each other or play with hot wax.

Sorry for all the questions. Just when you think you know everything you need to know, along comes something.

The Pent is on Wireless road, Hollywood on Rachada soi 11.

When I went to the Pent roughly a year ago, the deal was either buy a bottle ( Baht 3500 + mixers) or buy a membership ( 20,000 Baht for which you get 10 bottles and free mixers). Mamasan will approach you and introduce 4-6 girls, should you not like any of them she will bring some more until you find what you are looking for.

Quality of the girls is very good, but expect to pay a high price. I paid 4000 Baht LT, opening bid from the girl was 8000.

Hollywood is an entirely different setup, more like a regular club and has been around for at least 10 years (maybe more). Loads of girls, but not all professionals although the majority are. Went there 3 times and scored 1x for free, 1x 2500 LT (turned out to be a Massage Parlour girl) and 1x no luck.

Both places are worth a visit.

What type of place is this? Standard disco/nightclub? And what kind of girls are these? I mean aside from DDG -- are they clearly working or is this a spot that would be very difficult for somebody not Thai-fluent to navigate?

It's a club set-up, but I think it's pretty clear all the girls are there to work. You pay for the lady's drink, there's food. Like a KTV set up. There's a stage area with a live band. Couches in front of the stage. Bar in the front section just behind the couch area. A pool in the middle room and a bar in the back section. I hear it was a Coyote bar type set up in the back, but not when I visited.

The mama will introduce you to a girl or you can walk around and see if you can catch someone's eye. Come to think of it, the crowd seemed entirely Asian. I could be wrong on that one, but I don't recall seeing any Westerners. I believe the girls are all freelancers, but I'm not 100% sure. They are pricey .. 4,000 baht and up.

I hear there are private rooms upstairs.

There's a place in Washington Square right across the street from New Square Pub One called Huttasat 2. Last time I went about a year ago, they charged 250bht for a 2 hour massage. Cheapest I found by far. At this price, of course I tipped my massage girl well.

Washington Square is located just off Sukhumvit Soi 22. I always stay at the Nana Hotel on Soi 4. You can either walk for 10 mins or take the sky train one stop to Asoke, 15bht. 3 mins.

I have one since 2 years (not for Thailand - Live in Nigeria).

One tip for the phone, get a camera phone. After a while you will have numerous Lek's, Noi's and what ever. When storing the number take a picture and save it under the number. That way you save a lot of brain power.

My experience with straight SEA nightclubs is that it's awful tough to mix and mingle with people (and therefore, with the girls) since they're all at separate tables in groups, which makes it awkward to approach, esp. if you don't speak the language. It's also tough to tell which groups are just friends hanging out together, and which are girls who might be available and working. And then often if it is someone who's working, they've often already been taken by someone else, and that's who's at their table.

Usually I just give up on this kind of scene and go elsewhere, just too difficult. But maybe I'm going about it wrong. Or maybe this place isn't like that. Hope so. Sounds interesting.
