Most people on the planet do not leave outside of the place they were born. You take for granted that you are fortunate enough to not only be educated in certain subjects, but travel the world. Yeah. But still. Understandable they can not put Benin on a map or tell what is capital of Equador, or even to know which country the sponsor comes from. But not to know whether your live south, north, east or west of your local 'capital' still amazes me every time, even if it happened many times. Thai language must have the concepts of directions though as they use terms North, North-East and South Thailand in many situations, but maybe that indeed is only for the educated ones, taught only in college. You are right in saying that should not expect much even in terms of local geography understanding, having the mapping system here that is really not to map any location, rather just for land registry use (for which is okay). Before GPS location not really any practical local location system.

Actually last night had a case of this again. Was dropping the gal that I mentioned in previous post joining the party to her room after our meeting. When reached (in Bongkot), she said shit she had forgot her key inside the room, she need to try to find her roommate. Okay I said need to go eat something now I hungry, went to a place in 3rd road. In the meantime she called her to get the key and after the call the roommate sent her location to line of the gal. Once finished eating she told me ride to Pattaya Tai, her roommate is there in her friend room drinking. I was stupid enough not to look where the point actually was on the map, and just asked once were approaching Sukhumvit, and the navigator she had turned on after leaving the restaurant, pointed to turn to Suk. After turning there I stopped the bike, and took her phone to look where the place actually is. It was in Arunotai Soi 9 (not Pattaya Tai), almost opposite to Nirun. Fuck, you ask me to ride to Pattaya Tai if your friend is in Arunotai. 'Solly, I not long time here and don't know Pattaya roads, Arunotai or Pattaya Tai is the same to me, Im solly' was the answer. WTF. Guess she only knows Soi 6, Buakhao, Bongkot, Central and Beach road. And only moves between those by taxi or mototaxi. Something over 5 km ride to a place that about 1 km from the place we left from if gone straight there, actually less than km from her room.

Lesson to learn: Never trust a Thai about locations, always check and make sure you know where you are supposed to go before you start moving.

The reason is that Geography is not a highly rated subject in schools in Asia in general. However before we knock Thai girls, I have found Americans to be remarkably ignorant of geography as well. Examples are confusing Australia and Austria; having no idea where some African countries are and even thinking Africa is a country.

Maybe just a funny coincidence: a gal I know was supposed to come to my place the same night but cancelled without explanation, just said can not today sorry.

The next day she sent a message with attached photo, telling she went drinking with friends and got drunk and could not come. Of course I knew there was more to the story if it was true in the first place.

Met her today, and she was talking a bit about the party she went, telling bit by bit, kind of peeling the story like an onion but not really telling much detail nor full story. But your post came to my mind as it kind of sounded a bit what you described happened, so wonder if the pic is actually from your place. Or is it really just a coincidence someone having similar type of event in another place in the same town the same night?

You need to pay more so Cancelling is not an option.

Because the bars are closed, I have to improvise, so I invited some ladies to my place. They brought a freezer chest filled with beer and food, and I bought a bottle of Sangsom. The deal was that I paid them 50 baht to drink a shot of tequila (after the beer and Sangsom were finished). But, they had to remove clothing for every shot. The tequila was the real stuff from Mexico, not the ethyl alcohol sold in bars. They like Baht and they like the tequila, so it was a good deal for them.

Pretty soon, I had a bunch of naked ladies cavorting around my condo.

Good thing I have soundproof doors and no neighbors.

There are a few guys who have questioned whether Dannyboy has ever been to Pattaya or even Thailand. I'm starting to feel this way as well, with his fixation and obsession with YouTube vids and livestreams of very average looking women, something a Pattaya regular wouldn't even look twice at.
