Where in Latin America would you suggest a first timer to there go? I am thinking of going to Rio de Janeiro. Is that a good choice? I've been to Thailand several times. I want somewhere to go for at least a month maybe up to 3 months. Thank you for any advice.

I think Thailand will lose a lot of pleasure seekers to Colombia, the ranks of libertines visiting Colombia has swelled considerably due to the closure of SEA. To some extent, safety depends on your habits, preferences and personality. For someone who's happy to stick to neighborhoods, streets and venues which are know not be safe, and be careful all the time, Latin America might be safe enough.

That's not me, I like walking all over the place and sticking my nose into all kinds of corners. While I do take basic precautions (don't go around drunk or flash cash), no, I don't want to go full-paranoid and worry about putting my phone out of site or refrain from using it while out. Back in the day, I've been to the Patpong ripoff show bars because three different guide warned me not to go. I imagine such habits have gotten me kidnapped or killed in some places.

OK, My plan is to see 2-3 girls a week while I'm in Pattaya. I can't really afford more than that.
