So, due to work in Bangkok and Pattaya, my assistant is traveling with me. She's a young, very attractive lesbian and will be traveling with her tom-style girlfriend. Both are Chinese and fluent in English.

I'm visiting Thailand beginning of Feb. For about a week for the first time ever. I'm debating if I should spend majority of that time in Bangkok and some in Pattaya, or all in Bangkok and none in Pattaya. I hear Pattaya is the sex capital in terms of industry and also where there are fun beaches but everything I'm reading here on this forum and elsewhere implies it's not as good a scene anymore. Granted I've read a few good reports that indicate otherwise but I'm unsure if I'm better off in Bangkok or if it's still worth coming for a day or two..

Both places are within a few hours on the bus (which is cheap), so it is more than feasible to do both. In fact, you could easily bounce back and forth between the two on a daily basis. One could check out of your hotel at noon, catch one of those hourly buses and be at your new hotel at check in time. I'm not suggesting you do that, but I wanted to emphasize how easy it is. Keep your schedule open and be ready to bounce when you feel the urge. Nobody will be standing over you, minding the time.

Bangkok has other things to see and do beside mongering. In the evenings, check out Nana and Soi Cowboy. If you find it not your style (as I did), then troll Sukhumvit for some cheap street meat (its more fun than you think).

I was only in Patts for two full days and two nights. I wished I had another day to spend in Patts, but I think after four nights I would have gotten tired of the place. Many others have similar sentiments. Pattaya can get tiring and you might need a break. Still others can spend three weeks there and still not want to leave. BTW, the beach in Pattaya is not where you want to swim. Its just part of the scenery, not something you want to wade in. You will want to drift further down the coast for that. Much further.

I don't think you need to resort to escorts to find the most attractive girls. Nobody has ever accused them of having the hottest girls in Thailand. I'm sure you will find those in certain gogos. Escorts are not big in BKK and for a good reason. There are too many flesh buffets to chose what you want to take home, so why do you want to go to a website and order take in?

Don't be afraid to take in some culture and do some touristy stuff. Head up to Ayatthaya for a night and see the ruins of an ancient civilization or head to some place where the beaches are actually nice. It doesn't hurt to give your testicles and prostate a chance to recharge. I guess that depends on your age. But most people will either need or benefit from a break from drinking and f*cking all day, and maybe get some fresh air while your body gets rested for another vice binge.

Sorry for adding to the non-review topic on this thread but the answer is quite simple IMHO. BKK for 2 days, then to Pattaya for 2 days. Decide then which you prefer to stay for the balance of your 1 week. You will usually need to spend your final night in BKK anyways to fly out of Suvarnabhumi or DMK.

Imo the best gogo bar area in BKK is Patpong by a mile. Girls aren't robotic like Nana and Cowboy. DFK is a given. In Pattaya it's Walking Street with a few exceptions in LK Metro.

If food, shopping, doing non mongering things are part of your plan, it's BKK hands down. Pattaya has nothing to do other than monger. I live here for the gogo bars and travel to nicer places like Singapore and Vietnam to wind down.

I found BKK too much to deal with my first trip. Didn't enjoy it. Now, I kinda like BKK, but its much nicer in Pattaya.

I think I kind of feel the same way. Done about 20 trips to BKK in the past 2.5 years and I don't hate it like I used to.

I was actually faced with this question / situation last year and ended up doing both. My recommendation would be to do weekdays / weeknights in Pattaya and weekends in BKK as I find the scene (particularly freelancers at Thermae or clubs) much less interesting in BKK during the week. I would also hesitate to tell someone to do only Pattaya if they have never been to BKK before because:

1) BKK is a legitimate international city with other things to do / see.

2) I did not find Pattaya to be that interesting outside of the bar and nightlife scene with much less non-mongering activities. The food is also not even close to the same level as BKK has tons of top tier restaurants also down to one of the best street food scenes.

I have since done all-BKK weeks and all-Pattaya weeks, but for a first timer would recommend splitting it so you can get a sense for both places and make a more informed decision next time.

Like yourself I am making my first trip to Thailand early Feb and again only for 1 week. After a few months of RTFF and talking to other guys I worked out that Pattaya would be best for me as everything is closer and the place is geared for full on mongering. What my plan is to go direct to Pattaya from the airport on the Saturday and stay in Pattaya until the Thursday afternoon and then spend until Saturday evening in Bangkok until my flight leaves.

In regards to the scene I personally don't have any references to Pattaya in the 1990's or any other era and I think paying 800 TBH to 3000 TBH is ok with me as my only other Asian comparison is Bali where the cost is about 2500 TBH.

I'm sure there will be naked girls dancing around some of the joints and that blow jobs in the bar will also happen so I'm not fazed.

Your choice of girl may be the deciding factor as in the high class escort scene and I'm not sure what it has to offer as I'm ok with average looking girls who like to have fun so looks aren't that important to me as the experience9 I have a wife so I'm not in the market for a stunner but a **** who will fuck me stupid)..

NRock, good points, I already booked a week at dream hotel in Bangkok but I can always slip away to Pattaya and find some cheap hotels for the sake of checking out the Pattaya scene for a day or so.

My opinion and reasoning for my decision on locations. If you want to catch up for a beer I will be in Pattaya from 3rd February until the 8th and Bangkok from the 8th until the 10th.

If you are under 32 and a good looking guy, probably the best thing for you is nowhere near Bangkok or Patts. It would be away from the farang tourist destinations. As a young man, you would have the allure of the farang working to the maximum with the young local women. Its said been said that Thailand is not the best place for a Westerner to date because it is inundated with foreigners and girls are used to them. But, up north in Phitsanulok, I saw maybe one farang, a tall, blonde, backpacker who was probably good fodder for some other young backpacker male. Never made it to Isaan, but I understand that in some cities the women are much more approachable and friendly than in BKK. They don't get many farang there. I remember riding a rental bike around the Old Sukhothai National Park and encountering a pack of early teen (school girls who were on some school field trip (in matching workout suits in the humid heat!) They made a point of smiling and waving and saying "Hello!" to this old farang.

Those girls were the same age as my handsome son, and it occurred to me that if he'd been there, they would have be all over him. He doesn't know it yet, but I plan to buy him a ticket to somewhere SE Asia when he graduates from high school. What he does is up to him. He has a lot more options than I would and at a much lower cost, that's for sure. He could subsist on backpacker sluts from Europe and Australia easily if he took the hostel route. I traveled Europe when I was young on a shoestring budget. I met cute Euro girls and had a lot of opportunities that I lost as I matured. I don't think that game has changed much. Great advice though I'm brown (Indian born in France and raised in US, living in Cali) so I don't think I have the farang appeal and the Indian reputation would hurt me. I'll probably be trying to avoid acknowledging I'm Indian and just point at being French and living in us for punting with people who get worried about it.
