Palace and many other gogo bars have gogo girls who take turns selling shooters. The Japanese and Korean guys love to look rich in front of their girls so this is why it's done. They will approach guys who they see are buying lady drinks for girls. Not sure why you think it's a rip off. You bought 2 shots so not sure why you expected not to pay for them. The US has to put that advisory because Thailand still has plenty of daily cases. Personally if I came I'd just go to Pattaya. While BKK has some lookers mask wearing is stricter and there isn't such a party atmosphere as many places are still closed. Whereas if you're at Treetown in Pattaya its probably busier than pre pandemic (because so much action moved to that area).

Today there was 20 k+ cases discovered and 80 covid deaths. I can't imagine Thailand closing everything again unless there was a more deadly strain that shows up, which is very very unlikely.

Omicron is not a big deal in Thailand if you are fully vaccinated.

As for the day 5 test, I got the hotel's WhatsApp number to use for communication about the lab results. When I did the day 5 test, I sent the hotel a photo of the results.

At 2 pm you will find one in two Soi 6 clubs open. Most open clubs are clustered on the side closer to Beach Road. I don't think bars that are closed at 2 pm open later in the day but I could be wrong. Quality has been picking up slightly over the last 2 months.

There are now a few ok-looking SWs on Beach Road at night. This is also an improvement compared to January-February.
