Chinese New Year is my annual trip home 2021 it will be on Feb 12th, in that two week period my main purpose is to spend time with my mother is currently is 102, even before the virus whenever I get an email or phone call from home I think the time has come? I speak to her each week and although she is physically good her mental state seems to be getting worse each time I talk to her?

This gives me a lot of sleepless nights because if something happens I'm locked here in Thailand unable to see or bury her? I'm willing to deal with the ticket cancelation or even lose the money entirely it isn't the big issue with me.

I've read just 2-3 full stories from people overseas who needed to get back into Thailand and it took close to a month before they satisfied that list!

I took a chance to book a ticket for Feb of next year Chinese New Year and the way things are going outside of Thailand particularly the USA It feels like 50/50 but there might be some hope. Company in Oxford in joint venture with USA? Supposedly got pass the first phase for the vaccine with two major results now final testing of 30,000 groups if successful indication Dec?
Having had my April flight cancelled in March and just now my mid August Flight cancelled and refunded by United, I am in no mood to buy another ticket even though I spotted some real good deals for March 2021. Good deals as in very low price, very short trans pacific duration, and fully refundable if the flight is cancelled by the airline. But no thanks. I am done betting against the virus. I am going to wait until the various vaccines arrive.

But there is good news on the vaccine front, as LBM points out, the Oxford University Group is making real progress. Here is a snip from today's WSJ:

"Vaccines being developed by 1) University of Oxford researchers and AstraZeneca AZN -3. 96% PLC; 2) Pfizer PFE 0. 69% Inc and German partner BioNTech BNTX 3. 46% SE; and 3) China's CanSino Biologics 6185 2. 17% all reported fresh updates showing their shots generated immune responses and were safe to use.

The results cement the trio's position among a few drugmakers and institutions at the vanguard of the race to develop a Covid-19 vaccine. About 160 vaccines are in development, including about 20 that have started human testing, according to the World Health Organization. With a clutch of front-runners now having reported positive early results, attention is rapidly turning to larger, later-stage trials that would prove the efficacy of the shots in tens of thousands of volunteers and potentially lead to the treatments' approval for use."

No trade thanks. I am not scared to stay in my country for fear of being unjustly locked up. Keep swinging in the tree's little monkey while papa monkey has the money.

The age of nice sweet girls on the game who clean up easily (so much you'd hardly suspect their former profession) were gone 5-10 years ago.

In the post-crisis period, Thailand won't exactly be teeming with regular employment opportunities for blatantly obvious bargirls with zero useful skills and the work habits of getting 2 k baht for 30 min of laying on their back. Some might go upcountry due to no customers, but I bet most will be back in Pattaya once the tourists are back. Unfortunately, the scene went down the drain long before Covid, and won't be any better afterwards.

Are you already in Thailand? If not, you can book whatever you want, but not a chance you're coming in.

No legitimate business man wants an Ex-Bargirl as an employee. LOL.

She may be hired for other things, know what I means.

I would like to do it too. But right now, 90 % of Thai people don't want foreign people in Thailand! Same for the kingdom. I think Thailand will stay closed till the end of the year.

This is probably what they will try to do. But there should not be a lot of work even in Thailand given the economic situation and in general they have little diploma. Maybe low-paid waitress and jobs in the agricultural sector (so work but hard).

But I think that as soon as the borders open (which they may know before us) and foreigners can enter again, they will come back quickly to the bars.

Squatters move into the Pattayas bars

    https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/117...bars-and-pubs/#comments.

Thai media Manager went to Pattaya and found desperate unemployed people squatting in the city's closed pubs and bars.

Ten were in one bar area in Soi Bua Khao in central Pattaya. The once thriving red light area is now a shadow of its former self with no tourists to speak of.

Both men and women are sleeping in the bars by night then by day they seek handouts of food and try to get odd jobs so they can survive.

    Simply Amazing

If you know this history about Treetown during the lockdown and restrictions, you know basically all this social distancing crap never really took place. Pattaya is for rule breakers and rules on masks, social distancing, partying, and fucking random strangers never stopped us. Even with bars and clubs opening up, rules have never been followed except temperature taken, scribble fake phone numbers, squirt of sanitizer, and have a mask on at the door. Once inside it's a free for all. So how is it that Thailand and especially Pattaya is not even sick, no cases, not even one hospitalization or one positive test? I'll leave that up for debate, but I still think it's because Thailand is Monkeypaw's reward. Remember my nickname is pronounced "Thai" but spelled differently. So of course it would be "Thai's Land. " Believe in true blue, do you?

    New Normal

Girls work this way (I think).

    1. No contract, come and go as you please, but it will cost 3 drinks a night (paid by customer or the girl) before she can go, unless she stays until closing. Some clubs won't make the girls pay the balance to work that night, some do. So if Sally is not on a contract. Shows up at 9, Sally cannot get barfine until she gets 3 drinks owed all to the club. She may still get 50 baht per drink, but not sure. I see many of these girls give their tickets away to others. Come and go girls with no contract are usually very elite girls who can show up, work less than 1 hour, and get many drinks and a barfine in less than an hour. This type of contract is used popular now by most girls to "feel" out the market.

    2. 10 day contracts. Must work every day and show up at certain time. Must get 30 drinks (in 10 days) is what I've heard (used to be 45) and they get whatever salary. 8-10-12,000 maybe for that contract. If the can't reach their goal, it's 50 baht per drink at the end of the contract days. If they break that contract and quit, they cannot work anymore for the club, unless the mamasan pulls a trick out from under her sleeve. This is where loyalty between mamasan and girl comes in and why some girls follow their respective mamasans to whatever new club she goes to like a dog on a leash. The mamasan has to keep lying to recruit girls to come dance every night and sign those 10 day contracts.

Reality is that still there are no or very few tourists or weekend warriors who drop that much money. It's a mainly expat crowd with some exceptions (bar owners, their friends, etc). The girls are not happy dancing all night just to get 1 or no drink. They are quitting right and left. I suggest that the club owners go back and have a meeting with mamasans and girls. We are in a contraction for the long haul. They might want to restructure everything. Drop drink prices, drop barfines, and drop ST / LT rates to 1500-3000. That way you directly compete with Soi 6 girls to get them to come dance and burn off some of that weight they've padded on for 4 months. Remember the typical Soi 6 go up in the room experience at one bar costs about a little less than 2000 baht with drinks and the typical Go Go bar ST experience is around 5,000 with drinks. Big gap there to ask customers to pay 3,000 difference to see them semi-naked and dancing. Get the total cost closer 2700-3000 mark for the Go Go bar and you may be able steal most of Soi 6 customers. 1500 for ST for the girl, 600 barfine, 4 lady drinks min at 600 is 2700. Why 1500 for the girl rates? Many of them are already asking for that off ThaiFriendly now. I know of a Pin Up model with fake tits fucking for 1000 of TF. If there are no Go Go bar customers, they will just do freelance from the comfort of their rooms and not dance. That means they will eat and get fatter. Then it gets worse, for everybody. So Monkeypaw advice is just drop the prices or Nuclear Option. This is the new normal.

Gave both the cold shoulder. Fucked already about 20 girls at Pin Up when they worked elsewhere. I'the be broke if I bought all of them drinks. Ended up buying a bottle of Jager to keep me busy. Saturday Queens (plus 70% of LK) reopened with re-modeling, thanks for free pizza. Busy as heck, but still not my style of girls. And the party continues.
