What do you mean by "not true"? I wrote that most people who enter a club tend to sit down more or less where they are told, without first walking around the club's stage and scoping the talent, like you and me.

what is it about Happy that made you keep going back even after you said the girls looked so plain.

I have already explained why: "The next night I thought I would give the place a new chance. Maybe the decent looking girls had already been barfined yesterday?"

I think its just being polite. Most strip clubs have an entrance fee in most countries. Going into a place, the least you can do is buy a drink.

Well, I always try to be polite when scanning the place, smiling and greeting everyone in Thai. But how am I supposed to know I am obliged to buy a drink if I go inside, even if the place is horrible? And talking of polite, how polite was the doorman to me?

i'm a frequent customer of happy. i've seen japanese, korean, and farang customers come in, walk around the stage, and then leave many times without any interference from the doorman.

i've never heard of such a thing as you describe in any walking street go-go bar, but i have seen them turn away indian and arab customers before they can get through the door. if you meet that description it might explain why they treated you that way.

i am north european (fair skinned and fair haired) and not too scruffy looking.

by the way, i forgot to say, i did get the 200-baht sign a couple of times six months ago, but then it was late at night som i assumed they were full.

so, apparently the sign says "looking fee 200 baht" (because this is what the angry doorman said). why not write "looking fee" in english so people understand? and morevoer, since 200 baht is twice the price of a drink. would would pay the looking fee instead of a drink? i think what he means with the sign is "i recognize you and know you sometimes just take a quick peek and then leave. this annoys me. if you do this again you have to pay 200 baht when leaving".

this brings me to another question. thais in general don't read and write the roman (falang) alphabet, do they? they don't really have any real use of it, compared to learning english phrases phonetically, which they really have use of. same as us falangs. we learn som thai phrases, but learning their alphabet is a bit of a stretch for most of us.

When I was in Pattaya last time, six months ago, I really enjoyed the Happy gogo bar on Walking Street. So now when I returned to Pattaya I naturally went back there. I took a quick walk around the stage and noticed that all the girls looked plain, so I left straight away without sitting down.

The next night I thought I would give the place a new chance. Maybe the decent looking girls had already been barfined yesterday? However, at the door the doorman held up a sign with some Thai characters and "200 baht", which I interpreted as meaning the place was full so I have to pay entry. Needless to say, I didn't go in.

The third day, I went back and was again met by the 200-baht sign, which I thought was weird since it was quite early in the evening, maybe 9. 30.

After more than a week without going to Walking Street I returned and thought I would give Happy a last chance. This time I was let in without a problem and, as usual, I walked quickly around the stage to see if there were any good looking girls, but unfortunately all of them were very plain looking.

Now is when things got really weird. When I move towards the exit a doorman gives me a slight shoulder tackle and says something angrily. I try to open the exit door but he has locked me in. The doorman starts shouting at me, and motions me outside, unlocks the door, lets me out and continues his rant outside the door.

"Next time you pay 200 baht looking fee!", he shouts at me furiously and tries to look intimidating.

Aha! So that's why he held up the sign the previous times, I thought. He had recognized me and was angry for something which I thought was a totally acceptable behaviour. He thought I just went in to steal a free glance, whereas I always want to see what the girls look like before I sit down and order a drink. I don't think you should be required to pay a fee; however, I think it is polite to but a drink if you go inside. The price is cheap enough. When I go in I may get something cheap and then do a walk around before they bring it to the location I plan on sitting down at. I will normally walk around right from the get go. Additionally if I like it then I may order a few drinks there. If I don't then I leave (Sometimes without finishing the drink, just to avoid too many ladies coming up to me when I am not interested). Next door to the famed Devil's Den Is a new place called Heavenly Inn. Has anybody tried this place? They don't seem do have a webpage, but it looks like Devil's Den (girls sitting around a table outside). Does the place operate like Devil's Den? Price?

It's a part of the DD establishment. It's just were they have the rooms. If you pay by card at DD it will appear on your statement as Heaven Inn

So on the beach road where the average looks are 2 to 4 do you add say 5 for attitude to justify taking them.

Unless you pick your ladies with a blindfold on the average of Beach Road looks has nothing to do with it. IMO there is a handful of better looking ladies to be had. You just need to seek them out. And I have had some decent GFE's with them. YMMV.

I believe that, with a bit of searching, there is something for everybody there. Also on Beach Road. There is plenty of chance to talk with the girls to see if there is some 'compatibility' (if that is important to you!)

AND, at 500 Baht a pop it is not so expensive.

Agreed. For me attitude is twice as important as looks. Quantified it would look something like this:

(looks x 1) + (attitude x 2) /3 = overall rating.

So a 10 looks and 7 attitude lady would rate an 8.

And a 7 looks and 10 attitude lady would rate a 9.

I looked for a Beach Road SW lady who is smiling and giggling even before I engage her. If she is in a decent mood sitting there talking to her friends that is a good sign. I would also check out the legs and make sure they are not too beaten up. I also preferred shopping during the day because it was easier to judge appearances; plus it was my experience that the LB presence during the day was near zero.

There are always diamonds in the rough of Beach Road. Not at all times and not everyday but if you just keep your eye out one will appear. I never went there specifically looking but it's a nice stroll anyway on a not tooo hot a day and great at night.

I was only in Patts for a couple of weeks and loved every minute of it, hooked up everywhere from Gogos (fun to hang out in and drink but iffy service) to massage parlor meet at my place after work arangements. And my best experience of all was a Beach Road young lady (22) down from Bangkok for the weekend. She worked in a massage place that caters to Japanese and clients had completely dried up because of the Red Shirt craziness going on at the time.

She had literally just arrived and had her carry bag with her and I smiled as I walked by-she smiled back, I stopped, we chatted a bit and I invited her for a drink. She took my hand and off we went for drinks, dancing a bit to eat and a night and morning of super out of this world passionate sex. Money was never even discussed.

My problem is that I like to fuck sexy, slim, beautiful young girls and you don't find these girls patrolling the beach road. In fact you don't find them anywhere in Pattaya apart from the Walking Street.

I've never read any reports where someone was raving about sexy, slim, beautiful young girls patrolling the beach road. The Coconut Bar is what it is, all sizes, shapes, and tastes of women, for a good price. But I can't recall a report that someone found the beauty of his dreams hanging out on beach road.

And the sexy, slim, beautiful young girls that are on walking street, are usual going or coming from work from one of the go go clubs, or they are heading out to discos.

That being said, there are gems all over Pattaya, and they always don't jump out at you. Patience is everything in this hobby.
