This article was taken from a respected news source:
It is distinct from other variants in another critical way: There's a greater number of mutations. Tulio de Oliveira, director of the Center for Epidemic Response and Innovation in South Africa, said there are more than 30 mutations in the spike protein, the part of the virus that binds to human cells, allowing it to gain entry.
Scientists say omicron could be more transmissible and better at evading the body's immune defenses, making vaccines less effective. The WHO said Friday that preliminary evidence suggests an "increased risk of reinfection" compared to other variants.
Again, lets just hope the virus gets contained or tamed down and Delta remains the majority.

This variant has a large number of mutations, some of which are concerning. Preliminary evidence suggests an increased risk of reinfection with this variant, as compared to other VOCs. The number of cases of this variant appears to be increasing in almost all provinces in South Africa. Current SARS-CoV-2 PCR diagnostics continue to detect this variant. Several labs have indicated that for one widely used PCR test, one of the three target genes is not detected (called S gene dropout or S gene target failure) and this test can therefore be used as marker for this variant, pending sequencing confirmation. Using this approach, this variant has been detected at faster rates than previous surges in infection, suggesting that this variant may have a growth advantage.

Interesting comment as I just saw a noted expert on the virus who frequently appears on US tv who said that the virus does not appear, based on available data, to be any more contagious than other variants. He specifically criticized European leaders for over reacting to the SouthAfrican variant — a bit like your "500%" statement.

Posts: 3334So, I had 2 ladies over to drink, but my ex hung around to get some tequila, too. Of course, she completely cock blocked me, basically sat on my lap the whole time. The ladies were dying to get naked, but didn't want my ex to get angry, so no fun there.
We drank until the fireworks show ended. The only issue problem was an issue with their bar where some moron insisted on taking short time ladies for 4 hours, IE long time, but only paying for short time. No one knew how to deal with that. Calls were going back and forth, until the customer just gave up and left.
My ex dashed out early to go to some party to chase Thai boys. She did post a photo of herself with the new lady coming to see me today, she's a cutie. Apparently she had a sponsor when she worked bar before, but due to Covid, she is working factory now and hooked up with a Thai boyfriend. Anyway, I was pretty tired due to my travels, and not in the mood for further fun, so I had to push the two remaining ladies out the door, although I am sure either would have appreciated a long time "date."
Tonight, I am having a bar mamasan come over. She is past her self-by date as a bar girl, but still okay. I see she has 1,000 Facebook friends from abroad, and who knows how many guys on Line, so when the bars open, she is going to be busy. But I am sure she will pitch me to be the Girlfriend tonight, since she knows that it's not 100% sure bars will really open.
Of course, not being stupid, I don't commit to any bar girl. I am rotating the ladies, and as long as I don't do anything stupid, I can have fresh (to me) pussy every day without trying the Thai Friendly lottery.

Thanks Geyser, Frances and others.
New corona detected in South africa. The thai pass excluded the 8 african countries now. Everything else remains same. 60+ country nationals are allowed to enter Kingdom of Thailand as per new rules. In short, nothing changed for most of us. Hope, the virus does not spread too much before my planned visit in January.

Posts: 3334I go back today for the Pattaya Fireworks festival. My condo overlooks Pattaya bay, so some ladies have asked to come over and watch the fireworks from my condo. My ex is coming back from Samui with me, so she will be staying for the fireworks, too. Which means the visiting ladies won't be boning me.
My ex will be living with her new Farang boyfriend in February. You would think that she would be rushing to see him when she returns to Pattaya today, but she has arranged to see me on Monday, and then will come to Bangkok with me on Thursday. So, I guess she is trying to get her last licks in with me, before he officially becomes the Boyfriend.
So, as my ex settles in with her boyfriend, other ladies are beginning to jostle for pole position with me. Specifically, her twin sister, and now her attractive young civvie niece is making noises. The twin sister will be going to Phuket with me in 10 days. But, yeah, if you are wondering how to find new ladies, friends and family of a current barfine may be fair game.
Other news: the Federal government has confirmed that January 16 is the day that bars are open nationwide. But Pattaya is attempting to open bars sooner, maybe December 12. Bummer for me, since the ladies will be booked up when the bars are open.
