He asks where I'm from, doesn't even take a close look at my IDP, and lets me go.

Be careful out there. A few nights ago, I ran into 2 police checkpoints. 1 was for DUI checkpoint where I was asked to blow into a breathalyzer. That same night, I ran into another checkpoint which I believe was to enforce the curfew (it was around 1:30 AM).

On another note, I visited Kinnaree again. It was super busy last week (Saturday) so I thought that was the normal weekend activity. But it was abysmal today. More men than ladies. The waitress told me that the previous week was their 12th anniversary, which was why the owner had so many girls brought in and had all the topless dancing on the stages. There were still probably 2 or 3 decent ladies there.

FYI, they have buffets on Sat and Sun which are free if you rack up a bill of 1100 B. Otherwise, it's 395 B. I met a guy today at Kinnaree who purchased over 1100 B worth of drinks (including lady drinks). But they wouldn't credit him for the food because he already paid for the drinks each time it was brought out. Evidently, the food plus drink orders have to be on the same receipt for them to credit the food.
Forgot to note on my earlier report on bikes, end of month is pay day week so they are out. School payment is also coming up May and November.

As for Kinnarree even without their Anniversary Sat is the worse day because it is Babyback ribs, unless you get there early thereafter if you like a girl might get cock block by guys who like to buy drinks and eat before the deed then you have to wait for rooms which means more drinks although they aren't as expensive as some other places then the later it gets it could me sloppy 3 rds etc. Food days are Sat-Sun-Wed like one freelancer get their line etc.

I also charged the motorbike rental on my Chase credit card. I thought the Chase rental insurance would cover damage claims. But I just found out it doesn't.

I haven't stayed there in years but when I did me and my mates each got charged a 1000 baht joiner fee. Fucking ridiculous for a hotel adjacent to walking street.

Can anyone recommend a 4 or 5 star hotel that is really girl friendly? I hope to be parading 2-3 girls a day in and out of my room.
    Hilton next to the Mall.

Ask for the rooms facing the ocean.

I could be wrong but the drainage work on Soi 15 far end to second road has been going on for some time. The plan like another location the former Re-Con hotel side Soi is to dig and drop in a cement channel large enough that a mini cooper can drive through. The theory is in a heavy downpour this channel can hold water below surface until it drain away currently the 24-32 inch pipes aren't doing the job once fill the water pops to the surface it helps but is no real solution since all the water drains to beach row and the sea. I don't see them coming down past the Avenue toward Soi Buakhao the Grand Avenue condo should be safe?

Does anyone have experience with the Siam Bayshore Resort & Spa Pattaya? It is a four star hotel with good reviews. But, is it girl friendly?

People are going to do what they are going to do?

When it comes to renting a bike, some will ask you for a license from home some will ask you for your passport? There have been articles in the past the police requesting vendors to make sure? But if they follow the suggestion they mostly would go out of business the police have told vendors to make sure renters have a verified license to operate a motorbike if they did that they would all go out of business.

There are two rules one for the foreigner and one for Thai! So when you are stopped or in an accident expect the two rules. If you have an International permit normally to be issued for a motorbike you must present your license to indicate you are permitted. In the States, like AAA your license must indicate that specific class if indicated the clerk will put their stamp in the area in which you are permitted to operate. There was a time the police had no clue what to look for as long as you presented the book they let you go today they have learned to look for that stamp at least in Pattaya.

There is a 99.9% there is no 3rd party insurance on the bike, whatever insurance is the required yearly registration and insurance which only covers the medical bill of 15,000 - 50,000 I've not heard too many Foreigners even those living here that have been reimbursed when they have been in an accident. If you have travel insurance you aren't licensed to actually drive a bike good luck.

When renting you should know the value of the bike you are renting it gets stolen (not likely) the vendor most likely from my experience will charge you a full price as if the bike is new. If you unlucky break a mirror for example just go to a shop and have it replaced the vendor will try to charge yo 3 times. There is also a perception by many that if a foreigner is in an accident they are always wrong if you can't explain yourself in an accident expect to pay upwards and if you kill someone god help you! If you luckily hurt someone they most likely will go to the government hospital for treatment but don't expect your portion to be government prices they will sock it to you one thinks testing positive and having to quarantine is bad expect worse?

Most here talk about the drinking whatever coverage you might think you have is void if reports say you were drinking!

    That's what I thought exactly.

If anything the PI did it right by requiring a negative test result 72 hours before flying there, but not requiring testing in country. At least if you test positive before, you can cancel your trip. Flying all the way to Thailand without any pretest is not something I would do and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever considering you still have to test twice IN country.

Right! Those like yourself who can figure out the roadblock can smell a rat a mile away! Would you leave it up to them stories they are scamming their own people what is to stop them with tourists!

That would be Soi Buakhow 15.

I am not sure about Grand Avenue.
