Just got gone reading the past 100 pages here, and while the past 30 are pretty corona specific, I have found out a TON of information. I thought I would share this for everyone who might want to be considering a trip there when things open up. Just FYI. I have a trip booked in Jan, and before I get the haters telling me it's high season, it's the only time I could pull away that far for a week, so willing to brave the crowds. Also, my guess is that it won't nearly be as crowded next year given Corona, and I don't' want to have moist balls all day while I'm outside, I like to save that for when they are in a girls mouth.

What I am saying is the lack of discernment of the measures taken by governments and their improvisation. Although I understand that the situation is unprecedented, that we have no knowledge about covid-19 and that visibility is fair from one day to the next.

But rather than closing the beaches, leaving the entire population confined and sinking the economy, is it not better to confine populations with risk? People with comorbidity and the elderly (and often both)?

I remind that to date there are 55 dead in Thailand because of covid-19.

Maybe there is more deaths from crossing 2nd road in Pattaya each year than deaths from covid-19 in all of Thailand.

That 55 dead number is ridiculously low. If you believe that, I have some oceanfront property in Dijon, France I can sell you at a cheap price. I personally know of 2 people in Buriram that died. One was a lifelong, dear friend in his early 60's with no known underlying medical issues. At the time of his death the governor of Buriram was reporting zero cases in a news article. Obvious lies as my friend's wife was also in the hospital with C19 as well (she survived).

I agree we need to keep the at risk population at home and start to open businesses back up. We can't keep the World shut forever. I do have a concern about younger people going back to work and spreading it to their elders. And I miss my grandchildren.

I don't want to get into a drawn out discussion of what governments should be doing, but look at the case of Sweden. They quarantined the elderly and other at risk people, and had no social distancing for others, to try to build herd immunity. Despite being a low pop density country with great healthcare and infrastructure, they haven't fared well compared to similar countries with stricter lockdowns.

On the face of it Bangkok Post is playing a belated game of catch up. All Chonburi beaches have been closed for the last month or more.

The only reasons I can think of for running the story now are to tell the Bangkok hoards not to take a trip to the seaside, or because Chonburi beaches other than Banglamung are to be opened (eg Bang Saray and Bang Saen), but this is pure speculation on my part.

There are the same stupid restrictions in France. I have the impression that all countries copy each other. It doesn't matter if the measures are absurd or not.

France is doing very well in this area. We are told that we will deconfine from May 11 but in fact there is almost nothing that changes and what will be released will be subject to such constraints that it will be unworkable or in indescribable chaos.

In my opinion the lockdown measures are absolutely not justified in Thailand if we consider the number of cases observed and the number of deaths. Mask wearing measures with common sense hygiene measures and ease of access to tests should be sufficient.

We have gone from a phase where we had to avoid the number of serious cases so as not to overload the hospitals to a phase where we must at all costs not catch the virus until we have found a vaccine. It's just impossible and completely disproportionate to covid-19 for which 80% of patients only need doliprane and rest.

Containing the spread of COVID-19 is just an excuse. No tourist means no money. Means government doesn't get money. So they will close. It's the same as why are some restaurants still closed and some are open. It's about how much business and they can make. So what closed Walking Street was the lack of customers. I was there. Walking into Palace at 11 pm to only 9 girls on stage and 4 customers was sad. Even I thought, it's time to put them out of their misery and close shop. So the business owners made a few calls to their government buddies they pay off. The staff can't get mad to the government, so take the blame for us. Send them all home and packing. Hopefully this make sense. Look who works those beaches (vendors and water sports providers and lot attendants with their chairs). All pay a kick back.
