I was in Thailand back in Dec 2013 and brought in the New Year in Pattaya. Everything gets expensive by say 20%. The price of drinks remain the same, but hotel tariff, bar fines and ST / LT charges go up. This is not because of some strategic pricing model but simply due to demand / supply. No one wants to go back to the hotel "alone" during these days.

Soi 6 charges remain the same if you want in-house services but if you want to take the girl out of the bar then the higher prices apply.

This has been my experience. However, with all the present economic challenges faced by Russia and the prevalent general security concerns in the region it may be different this year. But then Thai logic says charge more during "low season" and that is an entirely different story!

Thank you and everyone else that responded! Flight to Bangkok are still reasonable. I am thinking about booking room before I arrive online. But, in Thailand in the busy season I wonder if they will really hold my room. I have my doubts. But, I will put a plan together.

Just stop accepting everything they ask for and they are forced to get real. As long as there are enough big swinging dicks (weekend millionaires), it is difficult.

How is this possible when this is SEA and prices are negotiated? There are no set prices on women (unless you are in a soapie) that say 3000 baht and 3500 baht during the end of December. Either party starts with a price and the other party counters it until they come to a happy medium and walk off together hand in hand. I do not know of too many instances where the first price given is expected to be taken.

Other than the hotels charging High Season prices, I have never run into the problems you mention. This is not a Christian Country.

I am planning a trip to Pattaya in Feb 2016 with a friend, I did some research and narrowed down to following list:


Need suggestion if this is OK?

A few quick pointers:

1. First, this post belongs in the hotel thread of the Pattaya board.

2. All hotels in Pattaya are girl friendly. Some may ask for a joiner fee but no hotel will refuse a guest. Take note of the age limits prescribed by different hotels. The hotels thread has all this information and more.

3. the estimated rates are all good and the hotels shortlisted appear to be 3 star. Unless you are one of those early risers avoid breakfast. Most hotels shut the breakfast buffet by 10 am and the spread is not all that attractive. That said, you are never too far away from a good eating joint in Pattaya.

4. End of the day, choose the hotel that offers best location & access with respect to the action areas. So anything on Beach Road, 2nd Road, Soi Buakhaow should be good bets. Beach road, if you like the beach, is the best bet.
