Did you have to carry your passport to go to Koh Lan? Three years ago I didn't find Koh Lan very good, I took a motor taxi to the other side where there's a good beach but the air was thick with fumes from outboard motors and the vendors of trinkets on the beach were foul-mouthed.

I did take my passport with me but no one ever asked to see it, but I went with the speed boats every day. I believe you need the passport or some other identification to get tickets for the ferry which is slower but cheaper. As for the beaches, I went to Tien beach which was the furthest beach on the far side of the island. No boats, no fumes, maybe a handful of tourists at most, and only one bored tout who ignored me after I said no to the trinkets offered. I can definitely see the beaches being a tourist trap during high season but when I went I spent basically the entire day on a beach chair in peace browsing TF and enjoying the sun and peace.

Did you have to carry your passport to go to Koh Lan? Three years ago I didn't find Koh Lan very good, I took a motor taxi to the other side where there's a good beach but the air was thick with fumes from outboard motors and the vendors of trinkets on the beach were foul-mouthed.

Last time I went to Koh Lan they asked for passport at ferry terminal. I had a photo of it on my phone which they accepted. This was maybe 3 months ago.

I never went to Koh Lan pre covid but can imagine it was overcrowed and probably not great. At the moment there are not many crowds around and it is really nice. People are starting to come back into Thailand now, but capacity is still running at 10% normal volumes. Would imagine it is well worth visiting at the moment.

Kinnaree reopened Tuesday. I was told it was packed, with 30 min wait time for available ST rooms. Cameltoe has also been crowded. I've also been told that Heaven got raided, for whatever reasons, but is open. However, no ST rooms. It was also posted in a local chat that the Heaven girls were only interested in getting LD's. On another note, there are clandestine bars open, (think speakeasies from the US Prohibition Day.) They have to know you to get in. And Tree Town is ridiculously crowded every night.

Report is a bit late, since I was in Pattaya the end of Nov and start of Dec, but I don't have much to add what other members haven't said already.

Day 1, arrived from BKK, checked into the Hilton, which was pretty empty. Got upgraded to a top floor room with lounge access, which was nice. Cleaned up and took a nap, then went for a walk down Beach Road towards Walking Street at around 9 PM. The town basically looked deserted. Most shops, restaurants, and hotels boarded up and closed, many of them decrepit looking. I saw a handful of FLs on Beach Road, but none very doable. Walking Street was pitch black, so I turned around and went back to the Hilton. Spent some time on Tinder, TF, and WeChat, but didn't settle on anything and called it a day.

Day 2, walked around a bit more, but everything was the same as it was last night. Looks like a fair number of people shows up for the firework and music festivals, but otherwise the town is more or less abandoned. I could see a few smaller massage shops open, with the bigger joints like Sabai boarded up. I spent the rest of my time looking around online, and had a girl from WeChat come over for LT. The pictures were touched up but accurate besides the darker skin, which I prefer anyways. She was shy but warmed up after some chatting and a movie, and took directions well. She ended up staying the night and took initiative in the morning. She wanted 3. 5 k but negotiated to 2. 5 k..

I booked the Sea Me Spring Too hotel on Soi 10 via Agoda and yesterday I heard on another board that it was shut. I emailed the hotel and contacted Agoda too. Neither of us have received a reply so it's worth checking directly if the hotel is open before you arrive.
