I live in Russia and when I come to Pattaya just being on the street is like a family reunion. Everyone is so friendly and nice here by comparison. What would you do if you had to spend some time in Russia, hang yourself?

These are the symptoms of the typical culture shock a person from a Latin culture gets when coming to Thailand (especially Pattaya), for the very first time. I had this about 15 years ago, too soothe myself I took "refuge" in Jomtien Beach. Of course, that did not made much of a difference, I still burned and shined in Pattaya, and various other places in Thailand and the Far East in the course of the following years.

I do not want to write a long or apologetic post or start a debate of Latin America Vs Thailand and the Far East. But I've been almost anywhere in LA, lived and did business many years in Buenos Aires, can pass for Argentinean if I stress the accent, etc. Now look where I'm spending my time and money? I can only reassure you that you haven't seen anything yet, you haven't seen with clarity, and of course you have have not enjoyed the great pleasure of strong and / or sweet sex with a Thai woman. Give Thailand a better chance. More correctly give yourself a chance to understand. People make you feel like they are doing you a favor for answering questions and you are rude for not buying anything. I spoke to 2 well adjusted foreigners and even they described this place as crap. I asked why they lived here and they didn't even know? I am not catching the vibe of the bowing, indirect Thai's as well. The language barrier is worse than The Philippines and even the ones with English play stupid when you try to ask a direct question. People don't look happy here and the police feel hostile and worn down from dealing with everything. I have been calm and speaking slowly as well and this makes a difference but not much. The eye contact amongst the foreigners in Pattaya tell the story. No reason to continue in Thailand. To get away from contempt I would have to sacrifice too much infrastructure and language. I can sense this already. I probably won't even have sex in Pattaya. Maybe just a massage. I am not saying there aren't great hookers in Pattaya. I just can't get comfortable to find out. Next! I will use my time here for relaxation and planning. Also it is hotter in Pattaya than anywhere I was in the Philippines. I am headed off to Shanghai on Friday. After China I am headed to Vietnam. After that probably Barcelona and then down the coast of Spain for one last chance with the Spanish gene. Probably other places in Europe as well. About half of the apartment owners I rented from in Medellin lived in Spain. Maybe they know something. We shall see.

I was leaving the salon and headed to the barber shop when I got a message from some friends saying they were at The Hot Spot. This is the place we sit all day and pick up chicks. The barber shop would have to wait. As usual, literally before I could even sit down with my friends I had gotten a chick's number. You are correct, but always remember that if they come to a foreigner only / notoriously P4 P club, there is a reason and is not because it's cheaper or cooler (which is not). Girls that that just go out the normal way go to a normal Thai bar or club. The ones that come to these places actually do hope to get to know a foreigner. I say hope because in most cases they are ugly, otherwise they would have got already a boyfriend, Thai or foreigner. But as you said, if there is a pretty one she may not be available, and have been convinced to join just to make the table more attractive to strangers. In many years of doing Thai disco I found that very rarely women do things without a good reason.

I have found that at Ibar / Insomnia, if she is willing to talk to you and hang out then she will also go with you. I have never had a bad experience of buying a girl drinks and then being left high and dry.

More than that. If she only wants to hang out / dance or whatever, she will tell right away. The good looking ones are not there to have people pay drinks for nothing, that's a Western and Russian specialty. Few nights ago I danced and had fun with very hot, non-resident lady at I. She said from the onset she was not available, but I guess it was better for her to have a male at the table anyway. She was friendly and smiling al the time, did not ask me to buy anything, she had plenty of money. We joked about how much her friend should have got from the young man that approached, I said 2K minimum, they approved enthusiastically launching high-five. That is the ethics of the good ones.

I've been a longtime lurker on the Pattaya as well as other forums on this site and feel like it's about time I finally give something back to the community that has helped me on my journey to becoming a bonafide mongering addict. LOL. I've been to Thailand about a dozen times now, as well as a handful of other Asian countries and will post my experiences on those forums accordingly. I'll try my best to keep this post informative & filled with tips so that newbies as well as experienced mongers can take a little something away from it. Special thanks to Mr. Enternational and Uncle V whose posts I have followed religiously as well as many other members whose names I can't recall now. Thanks to all you guys for your contributions!


*TIP: Girls that are in groups of 3-4 might may not necessarily be freelancers. They might just be there with friends out to have a good time. If you are alone or with a friend, its best to target girls who are also alone or with 1 friend because they are almost always working girls and looking to get picked up.

1) You can get a taxi to Pattaya for 1 K baht flat fee. Google Mr Virach Pattaya Taxi.

Just be nice and approach her like you would a girl in a non p4 p situation. And remember just because they are available does not mean they will go with you. Be respectful and take no for an answer (some guys can't take a hint). There is no need to be rattled by rejection. It happens to everybody, even the hansumest of "hansum men".

I have only one minor correction. I think when you say "tuk tuk", as in:

If you exit the bus stop, cross the street and wave down a tuk tuk heading towards Beach Roach, you can catch a ride for the regular 10 baht fare. Also, I noticed a lot of newbies asking tuk tuks for rides & prices and getting way over quoted. Never ever ask a tuk tuk in Pattaya the price of a ride; you will almost always get over quoted. Just hop on a tuk tuk heading in the direction you want to go, and act like you know the drill. Push the buzzer, get off where you want, hand the driver 10 baht and be on your way. If the driver deviates from where you need to go just jump off and catch another tuk tuk heading in your desired direction. Trust me, this will save you a ton of baht. Get a SIM at the airport for around 300 baht with the Internet plan and use google maps if need be. But don't ask tuk tuks for directions & prices. This sets off a newbie alert in their brains and there is no telling what they will try to hustle you for.

You mean baht bus. Tuk tuks are the three wheel jobs with space for 2-3 people in the back, otherwise referred to as a motorized rickshaw.
