Today I received a call. From the number flashing on my mobile's screen I could tell it was a Thailand number. I answered it and the voice at the other end shrieked "you no memolee me na ka?

I was totally at a loss. I could not guess who this was. So I proceeded to say that I had changed my phone recently and hence had lost all my numbers. No messages, no calls, nothing. I called the mamasan at the bar and checked. The mamasan Nim informed me that Nana got married and moved to BKK. Fuck!

Silence for the next 3 years and then this call today brought back all those wonderful memories. To cut a long story short, Nana got married, had a kid, got ditched by her husband and is now back in the trade. But she has lost her mojo completely and I would not hit that ass again. Kinda tragic. I am sorry for calling you out this way but please, stick to what the forum is all about sharing experiences of our common hobby in Pattaya. First it was the construction on Hwy 7, around the Chon Buri Interchange to put in more Toll booths and widen the highway that they screw up the first two times. That was the daily event but it is mostly done now so the traffic is starting to run smooth again.

Beginning of the year they started the so call Tunnel on Sukhumvit. The blocked off lanes around Sukhumvit and Pattaya Klang a major road that leads down to Foodland and Big see Extra has been block meaning no right turn down to Beach Road. During the week it isn't so bad until it reach 4-6 in the afternoon.

On Friday and Saturday, especally Friday the traffic is at a stand still starting around 2 pm, it is stop and go from Pattaya Klang all the way down to the Hwy 7, exit. At times it is back up into the Hwy 7 like a parking lot.

Today 23rd is a holiday, Bars are open. The traffic has been at a stand still since 1 pm, the BIB, are overwhelmed closing off roads to push the vehicles into other areas so they do not have to deal with it. This method causing more problems because they just do not know what to do. This happens every holiday and special events which I believe there was maybe a marathon or something!

For Friday and Saturday stay away coming into town unless your driver knows the shortcuts. This will continue since the so call Tunnel will take a few more years to finish.

Depends on the time of day and weather conditions. The train is basically time certain and cheaper. With luggage it is the transfers and additional walking that is a PITA as Thailand is a hot and rainy place. Even if you do get stuck in some traffic I prefer the door to door and always in aircon service that taxi's provide.

I concur. Friday afternoon is the worst time of the week to go to Pattaya as a lot of people from Bangkok go to the beaches or countryside to spent the weekend.

To avoid the traffic jams you might consider to take the train (airport rail link in the basement of Suvarnabhumi) to Phaya Thai and from there take the BTS to Nana. You will be at Nana in about one hour.

Also be aware that you will need to present your passport, or a copy thereof, in order to exchange money. I simply carried around a photocopy of mine in my pants, with my original locked up in the safe. I did find one place that did not ask for it, but most required it.
