Some of you may remember my first post 'Pattaya after an appendicitis' on 28 January 2020. In that post I promised myself a second chance in January 2021. That is past due already. The reason is that while I was in Pattaya, somewhere in Wuhan in China a worldwide pandemic was developing. This effectively ruined my second chance and I had to postpone my visit. Patience is a virtue.

So instead of sharing non-existing experiences with girls I will share an update about my experience with dating sites. To be more precise: ThaiFriendly (TF). TF is mentioned by many fellow mongers, but maybe due to Covid-19 or maybe that I did a wider research, I had a more realistic experience. I checked about 15 000+ profiles and viewed 30 000+ photos over the past year and a half.

So, here are my experiences.

First question: Why are so many Thai women at all on dating sites like TF at all? The main reason seems to be that Thai men are not a very reliable species when it comes to a stable relationship. Alcohol, domestic violence, and adultery are common (yes, I realize that this also occurs in all Western countries). Thai women try to find love and security. And if it does not exist in Thailand, they conclude that it must be somewhere abroad. Success stories about Thai-Farang marriages feed that belief. Failures are common but are concealed.

Another observation was that only a small percentage of the girls on TF were actually looking for P4 P. Most (90%) girls are now looking for serious relationship or marriage. This changes however when you search regionally. When you search for girls in Pattaya, the probability that you find girls that are looking for P4 P increases drastically. If you search in the Isan region, most (if not all) women are looking for a serious relationship only.

Most Thai women on TF look extremely good and that simple fact should raise suspicion. It turns out that virtually all of them are using beauty apps. If you look well at their faces, you will notice one or more of the following aspects: they have a perfect smooth and white skin, a nose that is smaller and narrower than the Thai average, large eyes, red lips, white teeth, high cheekbones, and a narrow chin. Although some girls were born like this, most girls use beauty apps like FaceApp, Ulike, Soda, B612 and others to acquire these features. When I asked some women about this, they simply answered "everyone does". The ideal face which Asians consider beautiful has a triangular shape with a perfect skin, large eyes, and a pale color. Some women exaggerate using beauty apps however and make a caricature of themselves. In most cases: what you see is NOT what you get.

But although they use beauty apps, they are very honest about their weight. Even a fat girl honestly states that she weighs 87 kg at 1. 60 m (191 lb at 5 ft 2" I only saw a few exceptions. When I was dating women on LavaLife in the early 2000's in North-America, I often got a message just before I was going to meet a girl in person: "Hey, about my photos, there is something I have to tell you. ". Then came a story that she gained 30 pounds since her photo was taken.

Also look how girls present themselves on TF. If she shows only her face, then her face is her best part. If she shows more, then you can expect more. The rest is a gamble and you might end up with a pretty face with a nice rack, but with an 80+ kg / 176+ lb body attached to it. Nice if you love voluptuous females, but that you can get in every part of the EU or US.

Access to the messaging system of TF varies from time to time and from ID to ID. I have had moments where contacting even the ugliest fat 50+ dogs would cost me a premium recurring membership of $20/ month. On other occasions I could contact the hottest and sexiest 20 somethings for free. This behavior seems to be random but is also be connected to the status of your ID and Covid-19. I experienced situations where I could contact a girl using one ID but could not contact her using another ID.

In any case: install the Line app on your smartphone. WhatsApp is almost nonexistent in Thailand. If you want a free ride on TF, put your Line ID into your profile description so that girls can contact you on Line without using the TF messaging system. But be careful. Regularly check whether your Line ID is still visible "as is" to the girls. TF actively filters this!

About this ID filtering of your profile on TF, I can tell you how it operates. And it operates quite subtle. At a certain moment I had two phones with two TF IDs so I could use one account to check what was being displayed on the other. For example: the last line on my introduction was "my Line ID is <my ID ". When I checked this with the other account I only saw "My line ID is" without <my ID. So <my ID was filtered by TF. The actual text stays on your profile but it does not reach the other intact and you don't have a clue that your text is tampered with. This is digital communication at its best and it also proofs that every single line you read and write is also read (and processed) by TF's algorithms. After all you are in Asia and TF is an Asian app.

Another thing you should understand is that TF is a client app and that all your profile text and all messages do NOT stay on your phone. They stay on TF servers. This practically means for example that when a girl blocks you, you cannot get to your own messages to that girl anymore because access all conversation becomes blocked. When you delete your account, there is no guarantee that your messages, photos, and profile are deleted too. TF is a data company, and I don't believe they actually delete your data. They just make it invisible by moving it elsewhere. And don't think a new account gives you a clean start because your unique phone ID goes with every account. The girls might not see it, but TF sees it.

You can send a free message on TF every 10 minutes, provided that the girl is not rated "very poplar", in which case you must pay. But if you send your next message earlier than 10 minutes, even one second, you will lose that message completely. Good to know: a female account doesn't have these limitations.

It is also possible that a girl's status is raised to "popular" during your chats. From that moment you can't chat with that girl anymore, you don't have access anymore to all previous chats and you must pay to regain access. This is one of the building blocks of the TF business model. And also one of the driving forces that forces girls to change their accounts regularly because once they become "popular", they can only be reached by the small fraction of paying members.

Therefore, the average digital lifespan of most P4 P TF girls lasts only a few weeks / months and sometimes they change their profiles quicker than you change your underwear. I once made a small database of about 80 interesting profiles and 4 months later only 10 profiles still exist. Conclusion: it is useless to start a search for P4 P girls months before you come to Thailand because most profiles will have vanished when you arrive. Instead ask for Line IDs, or better, their phone number.

While the choice of young attractive P4 P girls was still large in January 2020, this source dried up in June 2020. The simple explanation is that most young P4 P girls returned to their villages and wait for better times. As a result, the average age on TF has increased. While in January 2020 the average age was about 25, at current (June 2021) the average age is 35. You still find 20 somethings but now you also find ladies in their 50's or even 60+'s. This is a large increase which took place mainly during the last half year.

Now, most women on TF are looking for a serious relationship (and financial stability), even in Pattaya. P4 P can still be found but is not overwhelming the Pattaya section of TF anymore as it was before Covid-19. That is, unless there is a long weekend and the boys from Bangkok drop in. Then the number of P4 P contacts in TF increases substantially. P4 P on TF is a market driven instrument: when there are buyers you will find suppliers. When Covid-19 has left us, TF will be full again with P4 P girls in the Pattaya region.

Interesting fact: TF keeps a record of abused phone numbers for years. This happened to me in the beginning when registering the second TF account using a prepaid SIM card. The phone number linked to this SIM resulted in an immediate cancellation of my registration. Instead of going through the painful procedure of re-activation by email, I decided to buy another SIM card and the process went flawless.

Widespread on TF is the Venus and Mars contradiction. One girl once commented: "If I look sexy that doesn't mean I want sex". This one of the most common misinterpretations on TF. If a woman wears a legging because she has a good figure and a crop tank top because she wants to show her flat tummy, it doesn't mean that she wants to be fucked to eternity. But it also leads to a contradiction in termini because these same women are pimping their profile photos using beauty apps and men must figure out who is really behind these pictures and what she wants.

But it also seems that a part of us mongers are not capable to distinguish between serious and P4 P girls on TF. I chatted with a lot of serious girls and their main complaints were that they received indecent proposals from random fun-seeking foreigners who did not read their profiles where the girls explicitly indicated they were looking for a serious relationship. Those men asked for nude photos and sent photos of their dicks. Please guys, don't do it. This is considered extremely rude in Thai culture and it feeds the growing feelings of Asian supremacy where Western culture is seen as inferior.

So how do you recognize P4 P girls on TF? They cannot advertise their services openly. You must look for hidden signs. Look at their visual language for example. If you see one or more images like this: 1) She is lying sparsely dressed and / or in a seductive pose 2) a photo when she is in a hotel room with a used bed in the background (the 'after work' photo) or, 3) a photo where she is clearly in a bar setting (pink / red light), wearing a bar outfit. Then she is probably a P4 P girl (where the second "P" doesn't necessarily mean "sex".

Also read their profile text carefully (if present). Other signs of P4P are: 1) when she is in her early 20's and doesn't have an upper limit of the age of the men she wants to meet 2) phrases in their profiles like 'looking for fun only', 'nothing serious' or 'I like old man'.

On the other side of the spectrum are the serious girls who often show photos when they are nicely or casually dressed in a home or holyday setting. If they show skin, this only meant to give an idea about their (good) figure and fertility (breasts). Their profile descriptions often contain expressions like 'serious relationship' or '(looking for) love'.

Other Pattaya related observations:

Due to the lack of customers many bars were catapulted into the digital era. Oh Bar in Pattaya was among one of the first bars that went virtual in August 2020 on a YouTube channel. They were quite successful in the beginning, but they were thrown off YouTube for showing too much skin. They restarted with a new channel soon thereafter with a concept copied from K-pop girl groups and became successful again. Now many bars are streaming during their business hours (or beyond) on YouTube and other channels like Twitch. Some offer 1000 Baht paid Zoom invitations for a raunchier experience. Some freelancers now offer paid one-to-one experience too with their smartphone cameras using Line or WhatsApp. It is a simple principle: The girls are there where the money is. And during a lockdown with no tourists this is behind a streaming camera. Latest developments: Pattaya police is now actively surveilling the Internet and take down bars that are streaming.

Foreign tourism dropped 99% and what was left were a few stranded travelers and the many expats who enjoyed the sunny climate and thecor of women in Pattaya and Jomtien. Some of these expats made some extra bucks by posting boring videos about their daily walk to beach road, Family mart or Terminal 21. Since no one was interested in their vlogs anymore they now loudly proclaim the fall of Pattaya.

I doubt that. Thai society is resilient in a different way than most Westerners understand. When the money starts flowing again, things will recover quickly. After all many popular entertainment venues like beer bars are nothing more than a few poles and corrugated sheet. The main building blocks: cheap girls, beer, and shacks, are still present. When the tourists return, the business returns. The only factor of uncertainty is the Thai government and its inimitable 'knights of good manners' who plan to reform the entertainment business. Let's see who wins: money or moral. I think a much bigger threat comes from the environmental activists in the West demanding to minimize flights to what they were during the peak of Covid-19. If there are no flights to Thailand anymore then Thailand really has a problem.

So, the question is: when will I (be able to) go back? Considering the chaotic situation with vaccines worldwide, mutating viruses, and the changing and gainsaying rules of the Thai government, I think it will take at least until November 2022 before the situation has stabilized and a significant part of the Thai population is vaccinated. Even the western countries (I. E. EU and US) still have less than half of their populations fully vaccinated and the UK is facing an increasing number of infections again thanks to the delta (Indian) variant (situation as per June 2021). Thailand is not yet able to produce sufficient vaccines for itself. Rare but serious side effects with some vaccines combined with unreliable information from random Internet sources resulted in a growing number of antivaxxers. And I don't see how the WHO can change this on short term as they are more involved in politics than medicine. Thailand is struggling when to re-open for tourists. But we will see all kinds of hassle happening during this re-opening that might force them to (partly) re-close again which will be a repetition of the situation in March 2020.

Therefore, I put my cards on November 2022 to play safe. With a very full wallet because I didn't spend anything. I will be back in summer 2022 on this forum with an update.

Indeed. Pattaya has always been overhelmingly leftovers, since I started coming in the early 2000's.
