Thanks for the reply. My post may have come across as being "heavy handed", and it was not intended that way. Trust me I am under NO illusion that any girl or owner really gives a shit whether I stay or leave. I am just one more of a long line of swinging dicks to enter and give them an opportunity to relieve me of as many Baht as I am willing to hand over. LOL.

I am not a hard ass at all, and I was more than cordial when I told the ladies I was not interested in buying a drink for them at that moment. I will admit that I actually dislike telling the girls "NO" for about reasonable request, and maybe I just need to grow a set and tell them "NO" in a kind way and not let their process ruin my mood. Maybe I would have had a great time there, I know I was looking forward to visiting. I'll try to remember your comments the next time I find myself in a similar situation. It will make me smile and see if another approach works better! TIA.

Concerning "drinks only" ladies. What's up with that?

Some ladies indeed make so much baht from drinks that they don't want to leave the bar.

Some ladies have sponsors, who let them work bar if they promise not to go with customers. However, such ladies may go if they are convinced you don't know their sponsor (s).

Some ladies have Thai boyfriends who they tell they are drinks only. They may go with a customer if they are sure their boyfriend won't find out. Sometimes the boyfriend will be playing pool in a bar across the street. If he isn't there, the lady can go with you.

Of course, money trumps all such issues, pay them enough and they will go. That's the Korean approach.

A common scam, if you have social media contacts for the ladies:

I went with a lady a few times, but then she got a sponsor and went home to Isaan.

This week, she messaged me to say she was coming back to work in Pattaya, and needed a contact at a bar (which I gave her).

Today, I made the mistake of asking her when she was coming. Of course, she responded that she needed money to come to Pattaya.

The reality:

1) If you send messages to a bargirl, its only a matter of time before she asks for money. Even if you mostly just responding to your messages.

2) the scam is that ladies in Isaan ask many men for money under the pretext they are coming to Pattaya, but usually they want to continue living in their village with their Thai boyfriend, and maybe need cash to buy him gold.

Never send money to a lady living in Isaan.

Exactly, huge issue at the moment. The assumption is that the women in these bars are available, but there are a ton of them floating about that are drinks only. At first I thought that maybe it was just a few girls who did not like the cut of my jib, but that's not the case there are drinks only girls in a lot of the bars now.

Honestly, I used to think the same as you. However, it's not the case. That's what they might tell you, but I know it's just an excuse. In gents clubs, they would not be hired under those circumstances and the same on soi 6. Soi 6 girls are told they have to allow ST. They may refuse LT though. In the go go bars there are plenty of girls that say that they are drinks only. Anyways, I still think it's just an excuse. Why? Let me tell you a story. About 2 months ago I was in Co Co on walking street. I asked one lady over and bought her one drink. During our conversation I found out what every monger should find out in the first few minutes that she only works for drinks. I said no problem and called over another lady who was quite happy to drink with me and agreed to being bar fined. Now, after 2 hours and many drinks later, the first girl comes back and sits down beside me when my girl had left for the toilet. She says she really likes me and wants to go with me now. Even tells me how she will suck my cock so goooood. I said "What changed your mind"? She tells me that she only goes with Asians because they are polite, don't talk too much, and they are generous. She said she witnessed me being "Jai dee" which means kind in Thai and wanted to go with me now.

So, there you have it. 9/10 times when a Pattaya bar girls tells you she only works for drinks, it's because of a reason like this. They all go, believe me. Just maybe not with everyone.

I couldn't agree more, but it is more nuanced for me. There is one GC in Pattaya (LE Poste) that I really wanted to like. It has a reputation for decent girls and is open in the afternoon before the street action gets going. I had barely cleared the entry and could not see much because of coming in out of the sunshine and I was ushered to the bar and asked for a lady drink. Long story shorter, I asked to be allowed for my eyes to adjust, a minute to relax and sip my beer and sent the lady away. About 30 seconds later the next girl just walked up and asked me to buy her a drink. I politely declined and told her she was not the type I was looking for. I sent 4 girls away in less than 5 minutes and finally asked the mama / manager if I could get a few minutes to look around and enjoy one beer before being asked again. She said "sure" and of course about a minute later here comes another lady. I politely told her no, stood up and told the mama she had lost a potential good customer and more than a few drinks and ST from me all because she didn't respect my request and walked out. Never is a long time, but I do not plan on darkening that doorstep anytime soon.

I am the same as you in a sense that when I first enter the bar, I want a few minutes to get the lay of the land. I just pull my phone out, put my head down and drink. In Cat Flaps, I even had girls sit down beside me during this exercise. I just said hi and my head went back down to my phone. One time, the girl sat thaere beside me for 15 minutes with me ignoring her. Finally she got the hint and left. After about 20-30 minutes, I decided who I wanted and then the party began. Don't be so serious. You may have had a good time if you had of just ignored them at first. I myself have no qualms about ignoring them.

Now about this bar, I have been in there several times and the routine that you described is the same routine as I witnessed. Soi6 is not really my thing but couple of years ago I visited Red point bar just asked the girls sitting outside which one does anal and took one upstairs.

No drinks no crap conversations, just agreed on price (I think it was 800+room) and went to the room.

Hanging out with the girls can be a blast if you find the ones that want to laugh and have a good time. And that's not too hard. After 20 years here, whenever I don't have anything to do one option is heading down to Soi 6, get drunk and mess around with the babes before going up stairs. By the way, they love playing games like (4 in a row) and they love gambling on it. If you hear someplace that just went crazy laud for no reason, there is a good chance one of them either won or lost something. I was down there last week and a girl at the bar I was at hit the lottery for 20,000 and the place exploded. Then she starting buying drinks for everybody, and I am almost positive she was broke by the end of the night. By the way, I don't hang out with them because they are the smartest people in the world.

Went to Soi 6 tonight and had a great time.

Red Point Bar.

500 room fee + 1500st + 195 worth of drinks.

2195 baht total for a comfortable room and a good looking, friendly 20 yo girl. No rush, no clock watching.

As far as being "cheap" and being a "one drink guy" well I think the bars need to offer more if they want more money. They offer nothing to me other than to collect some girls in the same location. They lost the advantage they had in the pre-smart phone days.

I will always be a 1-lady drink guy in the bars and if things aren't going to go how I want. I will leave.

This happened to me at Babylon Paradise Lounge on 3rd road, I reported it at the time a few months prior.

Not only was I pestered for drinks, the girl I chose to lounge with and bought a drink for barely stayed with me for a few minutes before spotting one of her regulars and trying to have me take another girl to so she could switch to her regular. I ended up leaving right there and letting the female bar lady in charge know about what happened, not that she cared. It's experiences like these that make me reluctant to do the bar / gc thing too much and instead just stick to TF and simply approaching ladies during the day as I am out and about.

Indeed, the majority of us could care less if a bar makes money. And if Soi 6 closed, other bars would open to takes its place. Bars / GCs are constantly opening and closing, so who cares if Soi 6 was no more? My job as a monger is to get the best value I can for my mongering experiences. The bars viability and operability are not my concern. In that vain, 80 percent of my mongering is TF anyways. We all have our preferences. I know some guys hate TF and prefer picking up ladies from bars. To each their own.
