Taxis, downstairs at the Airport, you should easily be able to catch and pay one 1500 baht, they might start talking about charging extra per bag and toll, the toll is only 105 baht.
Taxi's to Pattaya are fast and convenient, I always use https://www.namstaxiladydrivers.com as they are very professional and careful drivers. You book ahead and about 24 hours before, you get an email with the name of your driver and pickup location. Their prices have dropped recently, only 1400 including tolls for the largest vehicle between the airport and Pattaya, I throw in an extra 1000 as the service is so reliable and that was their regular price.

Highly informative and detailed report sir. How was your personal experience on Thai friendly girls vs freelancers vs bar girls? Never stayed in Jomtien. Now got the inspiration. Do we get freelancers easily in Jomtien area?

Pattaya / Jomtien Trip Report May -June 2022

I had the opportunity to return to Thailand in Mid-May until Mid-June of 2022 after all the Testing restrictions were cancelled, just prior to the operating hour changes (which meant very little) were abandoned. Over the years I have been to Thailand 8 times (1974-2019) so I have familiarity with the country and my last few trips have been predominantly to Pattaya / Jomtien. I am American, just retired business type which allowed me to have an extended stay.

I have read the Forum daily for years- finding it quite informative and a good guide from especially those on the ground living in Pattaya. Based on information gleaned from the Forum I have traveled as a Tourist who enjoys ladies, not a monger.

Therefore, this Report may be helpful to Newbies, and it is also an update for future and experienced travelers.

How is it: I found Pattaya / Jomtien had recovered about 75% from Covid- physically. There are a lot of stores, restaurants, attractions, hotels, which have not opened- some in good repair, most not. The people had a very hard time with the pandemic, many are still hungry, most have lost all their savings if they had any, but there is optimism or a way to ignore their plight as they enter the rainy season and hope for the best "high season" in history next year.

Some acquaintances ask why I return Thailand via that awful long airplane trip. Well a few thoughts and reasons: in Thailand- no one cares what I look like (prior descriptions of visitors are accurate), the weather, the food is good and cheap, no car is needed as taxi, bus and Baht Bus (10 Baht) can easily move you from one point to another easily, accommodations are varied and inexpensive, there is quite a bit to do, but I do recommend establishing a routine for your day. Get into a routine- can't drink all the time- walk, swim, eat, keep up with paperwork, computer, world events, foot massage, afternoon session, tourist attractions, breakfast, walks.

People watching is a major thing to do, and language is easy to get by with English.

Costs are very reasonable for local products and services. Imported products are expensive- but not really needed.

Money- is easy to calculate, easy to convert anywhere- change money at airport- lowest level, exit 10- use elevators- signs for Train but the overall difference from one Change Place to another is not that great. ATM machines are all over the place and easy to use.

I also like the Thai people, but they don't smile as much as they should or as they are purported to be. As elsewhere, some are good looking- many are plain, and hard-working individuals. Has the quality of ladies gone down hill over the years- I doubt it, but not all the ladies are great looking it is a matter of prospective of who you are, what can you get where you live, how much will you pay to be with that individual- home or in Thailand.

I have personally found that there are ladies of all ages, sizes, shapes, and colors available. I found that the younger ladies have more silicone, more tattoos, more colored hair, and less sense than more mature ladies.

Ladies can be found everywhere in summary; I found the following:

Soi 6- the famous street of about 15 Brothels with lots of young low class, tattooed girls begging for customers from the front of the bars closest to the street (walking) - this is not my style at all, so I just look.

LK Meto- an upcoming group of bars, clubs, Go Go's, gentlemen's clubs, mostly European customers, easy to be a customer, good vibe, some freelancers, service workers are all available for rent, worth a visit.

Tree Town- near by new grouping of upscale beer bars, seemed to be more service workers than European customers but that may have been the time of night- may be more freelancers than elsewhere, worth a visit.

    Past.

Walking Street-about 50%+ of pre-covid experience, mostly Indian men with a representation of Europeans. Gogo's I went to only had Europeans, I spoke with the manager of one club who indicated that the Indian crowd does not spend well or at all, therefore they are not welcome, but there are some Indian establishments which are jam packed. Lots of road and building construction which needs to be cleaned up eventually. I spoke with a Club Manager who related his thinking that Walking Street will not be "back" as it was before, before next October / November. The Manager related that the cost of $200 US round trip India- Bangkok is motivating this surge in Indian tourism- ra ra.

Windmill Gogo- everything ever written is true about this Gogo, lots of girls, doing lots of things including naked shower, pussy dive, mostly all in good taste or taste good- the quality of the girls was high, however not as high as expected- Windmill did even have several "heavyweight girls" and some I would not be interested in, each to their own. Note draught beer- 80 Baht before 10:00 pm- not bad for the show which can be had just by going in the door, lady drinks about 150 Baht I think, maybe a little higher but not outlandish and they open the door for a lot of attention.

Dollhouse- quiet, about 20 girls- many 5-6 quality, very slow few customers.

Many other Walking Street Establishments- many not open, others less business, some for smoking, some Ladyboy, some middle eastern, some restaurants, don't know if 7/11 is open- probably.

Bamboo Bar near Walking street- NOT OPEN I heard they made somebody mad, but I think they will open in the future- the premiere location for finding a mature lady for the night- classic fixture of the.

Jomtien- Rhompo Complex- group of about 10 "beer bars" next to a car park which turns into a street food complex at night (very good). These bars seem to have some loyal customers (Aussie, European) low key, music, some singing, pool, more mature service staff and girls- good, relaxed atmosphere- bar fine was 300 Bt. Last I checked. Some Ladyboys mixed into the service staff not necessarily announced, so be aware.

Jomtien- Soi 3-9 Bars: multiple bars along these roads between Beach Road and Second Road, mixed within other businesses. Most have the same format of a few girls in the front near the road encouraging customers to come in- to be entertained by the girls in conversation, to my knowledge all are available for bar fine, I expect at 300 with 1000-1200 Baht for the lady, most of the ladies are on the mature side of the spectrum. Beer cost of 65-70, Scotch about the same. A few ladyboys but not many.

Jomtien- Thapphraya Rd (Second Road to Beach Road) this is the main road between Pattaya and the Beach in Jomtien. With about 10 bars and restaurants sometimes called restaurant row- several good bars with street view, service ladies to keep the drinks flowing- Country Road, Country Club, Escobar, Pool Bar, Sand Bar, to name a few which will have a variety of European customers, ladies, all with pretty good music, live on occasion, lots of street food available. There is even a new Gogo near the beach with a 'higher' end bar, worth a look. There are also approximately 10 restaurants mixed in along this route, various cuisine and price points, along with retail, and service shops.

Jomtien Complex- entry from this location, is an area nicely done of multiple massage (boy) parlors, small bars, small, good restaurants, several hotels, a showroom, and multiple larger bars- all marketing to the Gay crowd- all very well done and in good taste- worth the walk thru.

Gentlemen's Clubs- there are probably at least a dozen of these which are primarily open 2-9 have ladies and service workers, pool, some food, some have rooms all that I heard or saw had 300 Bhat room fee, 1000 girl fee all for on site entertainment. Numerous in LK Metro area, 3-4 in Jomtien, several in Pratamnak, others elsewhere with similar pricing I believe. These may not be for everyone but worth a look, for some low-key entertainment- but some of these do get going with a lot of down and dirty as I understand.

Thai Friendly- there are multiple ladies listed on Thai Friendly for which I would guess that 80% are Pay for Play and the remainder will not be offended if asked.

I am a premium member and find it worth the investment and valued for the entertainment value. I have monitored TF for a few months prior to the trip and kept in touch with selected few prior to arrival. I listed the data I obtained and the candidates from TF and used it upon arrival.

There are no secrets of success which I can guarantee, but some things I do: only look at those with pictures, only pictures of smiling ladies, more attention to those who "like or are interested in me", use the filter for age if desired- it cuts it down significantly. If you send a message and don't get an answer- wastebasket, presume that they are Pay for Play, if they are not, they will let you know quickly- don't be embarrassed of apologetic.

Language can be a challenge, but most do have basic English skills, enough. Most of these ladies don't keep a good calendar so follow-ups to appointments are recommended, and don't plan more than a day ahead I don't think the Thai mind plans too far ahead.

Many ladies are associated with Massage Shops somehow, so in many cases I would ask if they give massage at my condo- if yes, to me it says FS, therefore I would follow-up asking for "massage and short time" which usually got a good response and seemed to relieve the lady of complications with her employer.

Try to move any conversation to Line ID- men, you must have Line ID also, it is free. The Girls like it because it is free, there is no time limit on messages, and it is fast. You and the lady can send pictures back and forth, have call capability, and you can send a map of your location so the girl will know where to meet you.

As I stayed in a Condo, there was no "front desk or security" check-in, once I have an appointment with the lady I would send a map and address of my condo (floor and number) and they would come directly to my room door upon arrival. I used Thai Friendly for my sessions on the whole and 32 of the 33 ladies came directly to my door- easy.

I found that the age indicated on the TF profile was generally out of date by 2 years (less) and most ladies reduced their age several years as well. The average age of the ladies I engaged was 37 years old, the only issues I had in response or showing up was for ladies below 30- lots of cancels, no call backs, etc. I found the difference between a young hardbody and a more mature 30 something was negligible physically and much more positive for the session.

I repeated with about 1/3 of my TF Ladies, which certainly provided a more GFE session on the 2nd and 3rd session and the knowledge that I was staying for a month may have provided some motivation to the Lady. I don't recommend going more than 3 sessions in repeat- some get too possessive.

I would also session many times in late afternoon and afterwards numerous ladies and I would go drinking, dinner, clubs, and walks to look at the sunset. Like a date after the session, these can be enjoyable and inexpensive in the long run, many which lead to a good night session at the condo.

As I said, I stayed in a Condo in Jomtien (View Taly) which is a 25 ish year-old high-rise building, which I selected due to location etc. I have stayed in a hotel in the area previously and enjoyed it, but the size, kitchen, amenities, and price all made it work for me very well. I do recommend that an office of the Condo Agent be within the Condo for "communications issues". These condos are independently owned and leased by Agents who generally have small offices in the Condo building. The girls really liked the condo (22nd floor) view of the beach all the way to Sattiup.

Jomtien vs. Pattaya- I stayed in Jomtien because of the smaller village feeling that it has. It is quieter, which is a plus and a negative, with possibly fewer tour groups, a better beach, more local restaurants, fewer tattoos, etc. Jomtien is contiguous to Pattaya, so it is very close to Walking Street and not far from LK Metro- all on the Baht Bus route. I also think Jomtien is more European / Aussie than Pattaya and it is more mature in visitors as well.

FYI- Test and Go and Covid Insurance- I had to sign-up for these before the process was cancelled just before my arrival. I went to the reserved Hotel while in Pattaya and negotiated return of some of the unused expenses (all) I was able to obtain the refund less 30% "processing fee" from the Hotel- I could not even get someone to talk to from the Insurance Company- no surprise.

Pricing: I did not think the prices have changed much from 2019 when I last visited. I would say I was conservative but no where near a Cheap Charlie, the following summarizes some expense:

29 Days on the Ground, Exchange rate: 35 Baht to US $, May-June 2022.

Condo 20,000 Baht (penthouse, maid service, utilities) - this was higher than I should have paid (about $25 US / Day actual).

Transportation 5500 Baht- includes Taxi RT to Airport, BKK Trip, local rides- (about $5 US / Day.

Food 22,000 Baht- American Breakfast daily, nice dinner, street food lunch, snacks, some "date diners" included (about $22 US / day).

Beverage 8800 Baht- mostly beer at 65-75/ beer- (about 8. 50/ day).

Misc. 4300 Baht- Laundry, meds, gifts, foot massage (about 5. 00/ day).

    Entertainment: 52,500 Baht- 32 sessions, 17 ladies.

1,500 Bhat highest session cost, 1,000 Bhat many sessions.

"Massage and Short Time" mostly 1,200.

Would not pay higher than 1,500.

Some gifts and expenses associated with above within the total making session cost some higher.

I will be back in Jomtien in 2023 for my 73rd Birthday.

I hope the information I have shared will be of use to future travelers and update others on what is happening in Pattaya / Jomtien.

    Cheers.

    Bus or not to Bus?

I've been driving in Thailand for nearly twenty years, particularly from Pattaya to the north. I've hired van drivers at times to take me north and to the airport. During covid during the lockdown on travel, I've even smuggled myself and hitched a ride with a moving trucker who was a neighbor to get back to my family so I could pick up my vehicle and family.

I've used taxis to and from Pattaya to the airport and back, I've used the government large bus, minibus, and their van service that is mainly used by locals to and from Pattaya down Sukhumvit through Bang Na, to Bangkok whenever the Bus schedule wasn't accommodating to my schedule last time 2021 summer when bus service was still closed and I needed to get to Bangkok for my Pfizer vaccine shots. You name it I most likely have used it. Of course, I've used the motorbike taxis often in Pattaya and in Bangkok.

Although I have a number of vehicles here in Pattaya, I mainly use my motorbike there was a time I logged in 70 plus KM, a day around town. In all those years I guess I've seen at least 50 accidents, and half a dozen dead, the majority of them were on motorbikes. There have been a couple of times sitting with the family at an intersection to clear a number of times I would suddenly blur out look here comes an accident been told I could spot it before it even happens.

Years ago I took the Bus from Pattaya Nua / Ekammai twice a week, then after my BB game, I would shower, jump on a motorbike taxi in Bangkok Soi 15, and rush me back to Ekammai before the last bus back to Pattaya. When Bell bus started operation it was only 150 baht, prior to Covid it was at 250 baht, which all the years of operation going from Pattaya to the Airport never rod, travel that got into an accident nor was the driver reckless. All their buses have sensor if they travel faster than 90 KM / H. This is consistent with the government bus that runs out of Pattaya on Soi Nua to Ekammai both services have an attendant that rides shotgun with the driver. On the government bus going and coming it can make a number of stops to drop off locals prior to entering Bangkok and Pattaya, if so you tell the attendant where you want to get off. During heavy traffic hours in Bangkok I tell these days I want to get off Odom Suk, then walk up to the BTS to get to my final destination. During heavy hours this can save you 30 minutes if not more just from that location to Nana. This is the same if you are on a bus coming back to Pattaya and need to make stops in Chon Buri, Sriracha.

In all the years of using the government bus it has never taken 5 hours for me max has been 3. 5 once or twice returning to Pattaya, then highway construction and also road construction on Sukhumvit in Chon Buri. The worse was a few years ago maybe why the 5 hours they were starting to build and construct all the toll booths in Chon Buri at the same time they wanted once again to widen Hwy 7. The government bus people are pretty good I noticed they found a new path to Bangkok the last time it was pretty standard of 2 hours 15 minutes to Udom Suk. Coming back is really a crab shoot you know when the attendants walking up and down the aisle basically asking if anyone needs to stop at? If you don't see anyone getting her attention cross your finger it might be direct.

In all those years and I do read up on all the accidents daily, in 20 years I could only remember one accident by the government bus it ran into a toll booth in Bang Na, many of the Vans running to and from Pattaya to Bangkok usually also have a shotgun rider usually a family member like the wife. This Van service is also owned and run by the same government bus people. Only once did I get on one of their buses and noticed that the shocks were gone otherwise they seem to be maintained.

As noted, it is an individual choice I've done both for myself if you have luggage and arrive at a late hour forget it just budget it into your trip. As for hiring Van drivers to take you to far locations I suggest trying to find someone who recommends that service and can confirm the driver habits this is where in general at times you read about these so call accidents people are talking about when these drivers push their limits you got to watch them and make sure they are well rested and have lots of M-150 in their system. They will stop as often as you like you are paying for it.

I love taking the bus into Bangkok and back whenever I need to make a visit business at Embassy or elsewhere. I've met a lot of locals and visitors using the service and enjoy it many of you are afraid of using the service, particularly the bus just isn't there with Bell or Government. The problem is the tourist buses the double deckers!

Taxis, downstairs at the Airport, you should easily be able to catch and pay one 1500 baht, they might start talking about charging extra per bag and toll, the toll is only 105 baht. If you want to save some money and just have a backpack you might stand at the machine for the taxi and hit up another traveler looking and split the fare the large vehicle used are the Toyota Fortuner basically a SUV, 2000 baht, you need a Van 2500. Don't be afraid to counter but don't counter with something stupid.

When you hired someone just tell them nicely slow and safely I've never had a stupid reply or I need to tell the guy to stop! Good luck people!

Put some music in your phone, take it with you and put the head set on when you start the massage and she'll not talk with you (if you're doing the foot massage).

Rather go elsewhere, the island is filthy and overcrowded. Once was enough for me. Take your lady further down the coastline, there is an island, name escapes me, leave at sparrow fart you will need the entire day for any activity time on the island.

I'd like to add if you don't have 100 baht to tip mamasan, or 450 baht for a ladies tequila and Coke combo, or 20 baht to tip the money exchange booth, or 50 baht to tip the cigarette magician on WS, or 180 baht for pad Thai at the mall but choose the cheap 50 baht one on the street cart, or any extra baht when you hear the words "tip for me," you should just stay home. Forget Thailand. How dare these weekend millionaires and expats come here and go cheap by renting motorbikes, using public transportation, and eating street food.
So not true. I think for most of us it's just a matter of choice, not a matter of budget. Let everyone decide for themselves what they spend their money on. Hell, even if a monger wants to sleep on the beach to save some bucks, who are we to judge him?

I usually have my tablet and headphones with me. But use some game. Tell them you understand and that the reason you are in Thailand is because you could no longer afford to be in your own country because things are so expensive after covid. I am quick to holler out pang makE even if it is the cheapest little thing.
