expect to get about 31 these days. 31.45 at the most (at superrich in bangkok).
http://www.superrich1965.com/ you need to subscribe and log on to see the rates. it's free.
be aware that the rates are worse on weekends (the spread is 20 satang, during weekdays 5-10 satang)
the place that i experienced to get the best rates in pattaya is near [CodeWord900] on the opposite side on soi lk metro.

    1. Around 1, 000 baht/day

    2. In-room safe (preferred, but not a must)

    3. Shower is western-style (I. E. Not just a shower hose over the toilet and spraying everywhere)

    4. Bed is actually one piece and not two small beds pushed together

    5. Located near Soi 8 bar area (I wouldn't want to be wandering too much while [CodeWord140] drunk in a new, strange, yet incredible place! )

I've searched this forum rather thoroughly for such a hotel, but couldn't find a place that met all criteria. Flipper House seemed perfect, but then read they push 2 single beds to make a queen size. That seemed like an uncomfortably bad idea, especially since I intend to use that bed to its fullest!

Many thanks in advance for everyone's help. Also, much gratitude to Mai Yao, Gwailo and especially RetiredForever for guiding this newbie. If you guys are there in May, I'm buying you a beer!
    about 860/night
    Try this place

Cheap, huge rooms, resident girls, room safe, safe as houses. Just tell the owner Alex that darkside sent you.

ISG Meeting in Pattaya March 21st, 2008

Any ISG members in Pattaya are welcome to join a few of us on Friday, March 21st at Kiss Cool on Soi 6. Maybe about 3 p.m. in the afternoon would be a good time to start. Just some time to hang out, have a couple drinks and share tips/stories about Thailand.

To those not familiar with Soi 6, get off the baht bus on the corner of Soi 6 and 2nd Road. Walk about 2/3 of the way down the street and KISS COOL is on the right hand side. Nice place. PM and post here if interested. Photos and report to follow.

    Pig & whisle soi 7

Will not give you the normal BS line RTFF as I know what it is like when new to the game, even though this hotel was mentioned by RFE a few threads ago!

Best choice is above hotel meet all your requirements except No 1 price is 850bth per night!

Only problem is they do not have wi-fi and the owner is absolutely dead against getting it!

I would stay there every time but I need wifi.

Also girl friendly which I think you will find important!

Hotel is very well presented in decor, and is run more on a guest house basis giving a more personal touch, unlike the flipper houses hotels.

    Just got back

    Hello Gents!

Just got back from Pattaya today. I spent about 8 days there and all I can say is "holy sh*t!"...this is the real fu#king deal. The LOS makes Vegas look like kindergarten. This board has tons of great info. I stayed at Pattaya Bay Resort for a few days. The place is clean, rooms are spacious, and of course, most importantly girl friendly. I then tried the white condotel for a few days..this placed rocked too! I did'nt even get to see the whole town and so, that means a return trip in a few months.

Be street smart...don't wear flashy jewelry. The first things the Thais do is look at your watch if you are wearing one and then your shoes...they are trying to size you up. Overall, the place is pretty safe, especially when you consider ALL of the tourists that are there from all over the world. Be careful crossing the street though.

If you have questions just fire away. The Baht averaged 31 for the days that I was there and you can haggle on prices, even in the mall!

Go ahead and stay in grungthep - that's one less to deal with in Pattaya.

In all honesty, Pattaya isn't any better or any WORSE than most other places with similar populations. it IS, of course, essentially wall-to-wall available "poo-ying" - with a more "affordable" price structure than grungthep

"Bai nai, khon sooay krup?" Bai doo-ay luh krup?

    Walking Street,

Might be because during the day, the street is available to vehicles and traffic of all kinds from Beach Road. Then at night it is blocked off and only available for walking foot traffic. There you might have it! WALKING STREET!

Thanks for in advance for your advice.
I don't believe everything I read as somethings are blown out of proportion

ie Grenades guns and fists used in a fight but no report on fatalities seems to me that's BS.

Some ways to stay safe or at least prevent the chances of trouble

    1. Don't ride motorbikes esp when drunk

    2. Don't flash big cash only bring out enough for the night.

    3. Don't flash gold or expensive watches

    4. Keep to weel lit areas (standard safety precation in any city)

    5. Don't walk beachside of Beach Rd late at night.

    6. Don't go looking for trouble, or you will find it.

    7. Don't get shitfaced falling down drunk you are making a target of yourself.

    8. If you decide to ignore No'7 do it within staggering distance of your hotel.

9.Keep cool be nice and pull your head in.

    10. If there is any confrontation turn and walk away.

    11. use your hotels safety deposit.

I'm sure others would have more ideas but I think you get the picture, so I'll get off my soapbox now.

Just be aware of your surroundings and any situations that may develope near or around you.

Oh yes I nearly forgot don't get involved if it's none of tou business keep out of it.

One more thing have a great time I will and will be there next week

Out of curiosity, Why walking street is called walking street..its obvious, that people walk on the walking street..which gives away any secrets it holds .

Is there anything else on the walking street or people just walk around here and there..

Was there any Discovery like newfoundland or new england or a British expat just walked onto pattaya and said wow..this steet is nice..lets name it walking street or its named after his demise and the bar girls named it after him as the greatest monger of all time.....Mr James Walking

The name is tooo simple and does not convene what history walking street hold

It should be re-named as a tribute to all ISG members as Mongers Lane or Buddha's bite or Angels Path Way or something Thai That..

Great hotel list! I would like to add Charlie Place, corner of Soi Dianna and Soi Bakaw 900b. Beg to differ but a friend of mine stayed at Opey De Place this Dec/Jan 900b.

    Soi 8

I usually stay at Sunshine 1200-1600B but cheaper 850B at 2 hotels that run down street in front of Sunshine between Soi 7 and Soi 8. My mind is blank right now and do not have cards with me but one is a British place (Pig and Whistle?) and other is something like AFN. Can not miss if you just take road from front of Sunshine on Soi 8 to Soi 7. If you really need I can look up for you and send.
Soi 7 and 8 are right next to each other. There are several go go bars there. The one next to Beach road on Soi 7 has a jacuzzi show. Run by a younger mammasan from Bangkok that is real funny and lot of fun. Girl cost ST 1000 B plus bar fine 600B. The biggest problem with go go bars the bar fine is usually always 600B plus cost of girl plus drinks and if LT then add food cost. Then problem getting them to leave in morning. Always have an exit plan ie. "I need to leave for tour so leave." If not they want to keep you on string making money. Remember you are the ATM machine so you run the show. Also if you are wanting anything in particular agree in advance. Do not get to room and then get turned down for anything but straight sex.
Personally I think Walking Street is turning kind of boring and lots of ladyboys.
If you want something quick and easy hit Lollita's for a qucik BBBJ for 700B. They are located on street behind Mike's mall. For price kind of takes the urgency off you.
And for whatever it is worth part - always kiss the girl before you bar fine. I have found if there is no real response or passion it will be the same in the room.
Try to change your thinking from how you think back home. A lot of these girls are lucky to get a ST or LT 4-6 times in one month. The less effort you put into it the better you will do and less it will cost. Not like back home where you have to wine, dine, and beg to get anything.
Read some of my previous posts may help out.
I really should have included this info in my first response. In the day time Walking Street smells like a sewer. Have been through a number of times in day and just plain disgusting. Most of fun bars closed until later. Cheap food further apart. Better to just visit it at night and get away during the day. At night kind of fun due to all of the lighting. Kind of reminds me of Bourbon St in New Orleans (or what it use to be like before Katrina) in the sense that fun to go to at night to hear music and be part of crowds. Day time lot better off in Soi 8 area. No matter where you stay figure on catching a few rides per day.
    Pulled a few cards:
    Pig & Whistle 850 B Soi 7/8
    Sunshine 1200B Soi 8
    Bella Vista Soi 7 980B
    Flipper Soi 8 1100 B
Easting Soi 8 1600 B (looks like about 6 mos old very upscale)
    Apex Hotel Soi 216/11 500B
Opey De Place 700b (by Hell Club & Lollita's)
New Nikon Court 700B (by Hell Club & Lollita's) 312/90 M.9 Soi Lengkee
Both of the one's by Lollita's looke nice and clean.
    Honey Inn 800B 529/2 Soi 11 Pattaya 2nd RD
Anyway hope helps. These were a few of cards I picked up last visit. All seemed okay by my standars from outside. Prices were what I was quotedin 12/2007
