I think Jakarta is cheaper. Please correct. But why Jakarta over Thailand?

In Thailand, Patts and the general Suk area is very centralized, I've read Jakarta is very spread out and getting between mongering areas is chaotic.

Please educate me as yes, have never been to Jakarta.

Bangkok and Jakarta are two different beasts all together. Most westerners will prefer Bangkok. You can get pretend girlfriends with fake boobs and tons of tats to sit with you while you drink. Some may seduce you and play the long game. Plus Bangkok has a lot of non mongering attractions, food, culture, massage, shopping etc. Jakarta has none of that but it does have younger, less jaded, less body modified girls you can fuck for well under $30 with no drinks drama. I've been back in Bkk these last two days, first observations:

There was not a single person in front of me at the immigration desk.

Price of the oil massage (without extra) have gone up substantially. I've seen only two places offering it at 400 per hour. Every others were 500,600 and even 650 per hour. Strangely, prices of other services didn't go up (foot or Thai massage). These prices have been checked along Sukhumvit between Nana and Prom Phong.

NEP is filled with so many LB bars nowadays, I could count at least 5 or 6 LB bars there. Newbies beware in which bars your putting your feet in.

It's so hot outside that I'm fearing to get a cold because of the big difference of temperature between outside and every places we want to go in. Hope it's going to keep raining hard during early mid days.

The price of the beer is not inflated (155 for LEO) and at least it seems to be the only lively place in the NEP, every other places are looking dead once you have a look inside.

Problem is guys don't know any better or they wouldn't find many girls. Almost every guy I know IRL all of which have been coming to Thailand over 10 years has found another monger destination they prefer over Thailand. Mine are currently Jakarta and Japan, subject to change as the market changes.

Jakarta has always been fabulous, even in the early 00's, back when Stadium was rocking and Tierra Sierra was open. I haven't been there in a while, because actually there's very little to do during the day. Now there's some wonderful traveling and trekking in Indonesia and doing a weekend in Jakarta as bookends is kind of cool.

Forgetting about the prices, and the fact that we all probably have a lot more money now than we did, during low season Patters was almost empty, well empty in terms of punters, there were lots of girls, and few guys, which made it quite wonderful. Soi 6 on a weekday afternoon, well, you might see two or three other guys walking down the soi, and that was it. I would also contend that the girls were considerably more fun. Soi 6 was all enclosed bars and not open bars with loud music. Once the night watch group moved in, it ceased to be interesting in my opinion. It's packed all the time now and with a very different demographic, one I really don't care to associate with.

Most people going to Thailand now make much more than they used to make before.

Of course for people who live on retirement savings or limited monthly income, current prices in Thailand will sound expensive than they used to pay before.

But for new generation the prices feel reasonable.

In 15 yrs when I retire, I would compare today's prices with prices that time, and definitely I will be very upset.
