A question for anyone on the ground in Thailand or in regular communication with girls and service workers who dealt directly with tourists over the past couple of months leading up to the lockdown:

Does anyone know someone in Thailand among those girls and service workers who HAS Covid-19 or is sick enough to possibly have it without the certainty of being tested?

I don't know of anyone who fits that description.

Moreover, I see the same homeless and handicapped beggars sitting in the same spots with money landing in their cups that they must remove and count at some points several times a day. Money that must have been passing through hands, pockets, in and out of purses and wallets of every possible ethnic and racial group of tourists from all over the world for months now. And they don't seem to be the least bit slowed down by a serious, crippling malady requiring hospitalization or even a night off from the job.

And we're talking about people who start out with more compromised health and fitness issues than most anyone reading this. None of them wear masks, gloves or wipe anything off with a disinfectant before handling it or the food they buy with the money.

I'm in constant touch with 5 girls, none know anyone. I was there for a month, home 3 weeks, lots of chances for exposure, I'm fine. With all my flights and contacts, I must have been exposed to it. My conclusion is ALL will all be exposed to the virus. And the lockdowns are only to slow it down so medical services can take care of those that are susceptible.

No, but I have a Thai friend in Italy who's close friend died from pneumonia shortly after being found positive for COVID-19. Obviously, Thailand is not as bad as Italy, but ignoring the problem could make things very bad in Thailand.

I don’t know of any scientifically supported data, but it is still possible that the hot temperatures of Thailand will lessen transmission of the virus.

Even if 100,000 people were infected, spread around the whole country (with a population of 65 million!) you would probably not know any of them. Hell, even if Bangkok alone had 100,000 people infected you probably wouldn't know any of them.

Does anybody personally know a bargirl, escort, food server, bank clerk, massage shop girl, homeless street person or anyone else who by now ought to be in a hospital with 10 other co-workers or family members being treated for anything more serious than the usual colds, fevers, headaches and stomach aches people get all the time anyway?

But it still makes me confuse how numbers got so huge in Italy, which has huge amount of Chinese labour which returned from China after Chinese new year. But Chinese were also visiting Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia before travel bans but still numbers of positive cases in SE asia are surprisingly low. Could it be that immunity of Asians is stronger than Europeans?

In Pattaya / Banglamung, anyone who visited either the 'Café De Beach' or 'Khon La Fun' restaurants on March 15, or 'Bar Beer Soi 6 Pattaya' between February 24 and March 26 (names translated from Thai, may differ slightly) is required to quarantine at home for 14 days. It is called fishing for complements.
