Thanks for your reply. As always, straight to the point. I asked because I didn't know how things work in Thailand. What I get from your reply is that the girl doesn't get any commission if I buy a bottle.

It is not even a common thing to see anyone purchase a bottle of whiskey in an agogo bar or beer bar. I can not say that I have ever seen it. It is a more common thing in the discos. Same as you read in the reports, most guys go out and hop from one agogo or beer bar to another; they don't just settle into one for the evening. There are hundreds of agogo and beer bars in Pattaya. To me they are rather boring, but to each their own.

Also the girl and her friend got fired from the agogo last month because a guy came in and was buying them a lot of drinks but they didn't get him to buy any for the mamasan. The mamasan got jealous and told them they could not work there anymore. So if you are sitting with the same chick for a long time prepare to hear a lot of, "Buy dink for friend me/my sister/or whoever else may be in the room."

Reminds me of when I was in Florida and another board member took me to a strip club. I asked the chick right off how much to fuck her. She told me to get a couple of dances first then talk about it. I said what kind of moron do you think I am? Why would I blow the money I plan on using to fuck you on getting dances from you? If I get you to the room you will end up dancing for free anyway.

Did you get her or any stripper while you were in Florida to come back to your room using that Thailand game? Was it, like the bros on these boards like to say, "A Top Tier Strip Club"?

There is nothing that says you have to buy anybody any drinks. It is free to get in the club/bar whatever. Buying drinks for yourself ensures they can keep the doors open and the lights and A/C on. I am one guy that has always said that lady drinks are for suckers. With that being said, I do understand the purpose of lady drinks and it ain't to interview a chick. You can ask her questions and touch on her as long as she stands there without buying her a damn thing.

Besides getting a regular salary, lady drinks is the way that the ladies make money. They are not there drinking just for the pleasure of it, so you buying a bottle for yourself does shit for them. They are looking for customers that they can make money from, not drinking buddies. I do not know many people that are trying to sit in the bar with the same hooker for 2 hours, and the hooker definitely is not trying to do it if the baht are not adding up. Imagine yourself working at a car dealership and someone comes in and wants to test drive cars all day long with no intention of buying one. You work off commission and would not want to waste your day on that bullshit. Same thing with lady drinks. So you are either paying a bar fine that secures her earnings for the night, or you are buying her lady drinks that will do the same.

The last couple of months I was messing with a chick that worked at a gogo bar on LK Metro. Every so often I would come in and buy her and her best friend a drink. (Why not? She wanted to come see me everyday and I never had to give her any money.) They would make 50 baht from each lady drink. When that drink was gone the mamasan would come along and make them get up and leave if I was not buying them another drink. And I definitely was not doing that.

I can easily see myself spending some time with a girl in a gogo bar watching the dancers and having a few laughs and not just going in, picking up a girl and running away with her for a LT to my hotel room. Of course there is a price to pay for that company and that's why I'm asking, to know how high that price would be. Drinking that bottle of whisky, sitting alone, in a bar full of prostitutes is not the kind of fun I'm looking for when I travel abroad and neither am I looking for the company of other mongers. Nothing against having a few beers with fellow mongers, but that's it. I'm definitely not a Cheap Charlie, that wasn't the reason for me asking, but I like to know more or less how much things cost before I travel.

If I can stay 6-7 hours in a clinica in SP, drinking and having fun with a girl and only nutting once or twice, I'm sure I can be a sucker and invite a girl some watered down drinks to keep me company. Just wanted to have an idea how much that could be.

I see you spend a lot of time in Brazil so that format is well known to you. I hope to go later this summer, so I've been researching and see you in the SP forum. Anyhow, Thailand is different from US or other go go places. You don't go and spend time in one place. On one street there will be literally 10-20 go go bars all side by side.

So my MO is go in one that looks promising and buy a beer. If you like the ladies, maybe buy one a drink. See if things click. If she is not to die for, go to the next bar. I would spend no more than15-20 minutes in any given club. Rinse repeat. Until you find your girl. Then bar fine her and make the happy dance!

In a beer bar it is a bit different. The bar would generally be a U-shape with the girls corralled inside of it. In this situation there is really no place for the girls to go and they will sit there all day long and play Connect Four with you even if you do not buy them a drink.

After spending a few weeks in both Pattaya and Phuket (Patong) I have done a comparision list based on my experiences with the most important things first and the less important things last.

1. Girls look.

More attractive girls in Phuket. Phuket girls are generally more good looking and hot than the girls in Pattaya. Phuket girls are mostly also more friendly, funny and easy-going than the girls of Pattaya. Double points to Phuket! Pattaya-Phuket: 0-2.

If you have never been in Happy-A-GoGo located at Soi Happy just off the Walking Street of Pattaya, I think that you jump to the conclusion too quickly.

It would be helpful to know which bars / gogos you visited in Phuket and Pattaya to make your comparison. If you can tell me there are better looking girls in Phuket than in Pattaya gogo bars like Infinity, Palace, and Baccara or even What's Up, Imagine, Sapphire, Sensations, Happy, Nui 2, Ginza, Skyfall, etc. I'm all ears but from everything I hear from friends visiting Phuket this is definitely not the case.

If you mostly want to monger, then it is hard to justify Phuket over Pattaya.

I would just add a few points to the conversation:

2. If you want to do a little recreational mongering, but mostly enjoy some very nice beaches during the day, then head to Phuket. It's a compromise, but both goals can be achieved on Phuket.

3. If you primarily want to have a great beach vacation, spend a few nights in BKK or Pattaya and then fly further south, past Phuket with or without a girl to keep you company. The best Thai beaches lie to the south of Phuket.

Exactly. When I was in Phuket in December the disco were full of regular tourists, male and female. I was like what time do the hookers get here. It seemed that the internet was the best way to get hookers in Phuket. Where do you get chicks there before night time? The only place I knew was at a few massgae parlors on the soi that I have since forgotten the name of. And I think that soapy place was like 5000 baht. You can have Phuket. I will keep my mongering skills in Pattaya.

Good overview, but I might disagree with the conclusions. For one, you give equal ratings to each comparison point. Some of use would assign a different weighting factor. For example, I don't drink much, so I really couldn't care less on how much the drinks are. And I don't care so much about the quality of the discos, only if they have available women in them! And while Patong is relative small in geographical area, I like that Pattaya has three major areas that are easily accessible by baht bus. And one factor you did not consider was simply the shear number of available girls in Pattaya. It is overwhelming! So while the relative percentage of hot girls on Bangla Road may exceed that on WS, the fact that there are so many more girls on WS means that the total number of hot girls there exceeds that on Bangla. True, there are more men as well to compete with, but I feel the overall opportunity to monger successfully in Pattaya is superior. A factor as well is the ease of getting to Pattaya from Bangkok. You can leave BKK and be on Soi 6 in around 2 hours for 1200 baht (more or less). To get to Phuket, you almost need to fly there (several thousand baht), with a 2 to 3 hour layover in BKK, the flight, then waiting for luggage in HKT and getting a ride in for around 800 baht. Plus the reverse leaving.

On my first mongering trip to Thailand I first went to Phuket and had a good time. Then I went to Pattaya and the number of girls and places and opportunities was overwhelming! It was a downside at first, but as I got used to it I regarded it as a positive. After three trips I dropped Phuket as a mongering destination as things were so much better (IMHO) in Pattaya. I still visit Phuket, but only with my Thai GF, and I think that mimics what is happening in Phuket. Phuket has become such an international destination for couples and families that the lone male sex travel is slowing being pushed out. Still plenty of opportunities, but on my last few visits it seems that as more and more couples are showing up on Bangla, the mongering opportunities, while still good, and very slowly being run off.

But you have done a good basic analysis and it is up to each of us to consider your points, reassign rating assessments and add whatever other factors we may have, and make a decision. Certainly, if you want a well-rounded vacation, Phuket would have the lead by far. If you mostly want to monger, then it is hard to justify Phuket over Pattaya.

Yes, I noticed Eden Club was closed tonight as well. That was quick if it already got shut down.

I went to Maxim as well as one of my girls decided to give it a try. Walked in and recognized many of the girls from various gogo bars. I didn't recognize any D Club girls. I counted over 50 girls but since it's such a large club the place always seems empty. I assume you didn't actually buy a LD because the waitress was incorrect. LD are 200 baht there. Other than my friend there was one other nice girl there. Rest were not great and a few Marilyn Monroe girls. As LBM mentioned, the very generous serving of roasted pork was good. I wish this club the best but 200 baht drinks for average girls is a recipe for disaster imo.

Since the big topic right now appears to be music, wanted to point out if you are opposed to nightclub volume dance and Thai music, don't even think about coming here. Personally I love this style of music and the louder the better if the sound system is good, which it is at Maxim.

I was at Tantra last night and found out the owner of Eden is the same. I guess when they open it was supposed to be what they called a "soft opening" they closed as we discussed because they didn't want to Grand Open on the same night as Maxim. It is rumor that they will open again April 7th?

4. Barfines.

Generally slightly higher in Phuket. However you can find cheap as well as expensive barfines at both places. Pattaya-Phuket: 3-4.

5. Beers and drinks.

Cheaper in Pattaya and sometimes much cheaper in Pattaya. Pattaya-Phuket: 4-4.

6. Costs for food and accommodation.

Cheaper in Pattaya. Pattaya-Phuket: 5-4.

7. Bars & nightclubs invironment.

There are some really cool and nice nightclubs with a high standard in Phuket. Also there are a lots of cozy places near to the beach in Phuket. Also the bar complexes are more stylish in Phuket. It's a much greater experience to visit the bar complexes and night clubs in Phuket than in Pattaya. Pattaya-Phuket: 5-5.

8. Distances.

Patong (Phuket) are much smaller than Pattaya which means walking distance to everything in Patong. In Pattaya you oftenly need to rely on public transportation. Pattaya-Phuket: 5-6.

9. Things to do in the daytime.

There are not so many things to do or see in Pattaya. However, Phuket has alots of things to offer such as loads of beautiful beaches, island-hopping, snorkling, driving around the island on bikes, visiting view-points and much more. Pattaya-Phuket: 5-7.

10. General impression.

Phuket feels more clean and nice than Pattaya. Phuket also gives a more funny vibe than Pattaya. And the invironment with all the beautiful beaches and the green forest mountains surrounding Patong is a much more relaxing and beautiful place for a holiday than Pattaya. Pattaya-Phuket: 5-8.

I'm a "young man," mid-70's. Been going to Thailand for 20 years. I've tried all the venues, most of them written about by members over the years. I haven't posted much because I haven't had much to add. But now I'm struggling with how to proceed on my next trip, 2 weeks in mid-May. Raincoats are a big problem at this age and have been for several years, almost no feeling. But BB is a health risk so I've opted for HJ's lately. Tried a Thai GF for several trips, she loves money more than me. I'm in really good shape, walk a lot, like to dance, like all music. I don't drink very much, mostly soda, and don't smoke. I'm about 5'5" with weight proportional; I attract women 50 and over on TF but I can get that at home. Also I don't trust TF, not my generation. So my question: what are you older guys doing?? And where?

I know you are asking in a Thai forum, but I think your question may be broader — like where best in the world to go? There is a solid majority of folks — me included — who've done it nearly everywhere and rank the German FKK as the top destination in the world. Skip the rubber. Get a BBBJ from two Romanian girls CIM and you will thank me!
