Again, can't compare with tourist places which cater to foreigners. Typically in a Thai buffet you cook fresh meats and fish (actually your girl should do for you) on the BBQ (brazier / boiler), together with vegetables. Add mild / spicy sauces at wish. There are also pre-cooked foods like noodles, fried rice, meatballs, etc which get replenished often. Check out the many videos on YT.

IMHO there are only a few stalls in the food courts in Terminal 21 in BKK and Central Festival in Pattaya that have good food. You get what you pay for I guess.
And the one in Central Festival is indeed a rip off and too expensive for what you get.

Mike's shopping mall has a slightly cheaper food court but the quality there is also below par.
And there's a rather expensive food court at the top floor of Royal Garden, but I never tried that one.

For some reason the taste in food courts is often bland, but at least there is variety, cleanliness and convenience, eg in Big C. Klang. You see that not many Thais eats there.

Another thing I do and the ladies love is the "bagarin" restaurants at early hours , there is a row of them opposite Hollywood disco. You can have menu dishes or pot BBQ at the table. Today we had crispy morning glory and two large seafood spicy salads, the one in sauce was superb we both agreed. With rice, water, a large Singha bill came to Baht 430. Prices haven't changed in years, laid back place, zero tourists, what can you ask for more?

This was with a Red Car lady that I didn't see before, Dao, pretty face on a solid (not fat) body. She have man made hard boobs which do nothing for me. But she's nice to be with, friendly without being stupid, zero bullshit (well, she left way earlier than noon as promised, but i don't care anyway). Sex drive and endurance are Thai average (lowish) but can suck pretty good. Damage 2 K LT.

They have what's called the baht buster for 99 baht. If it doesn't fill you up you're eating too much. It's served until 4 pm. Highly recommended.

I agree about the Kebab vendor (the one located in front of Familymart Soi Diana) good value and fresh vegs. And chicken.

https://www.facebook.com/SailorBarPattaya/ in soi 8 has good food both Thai and farang dishes, only 30 Baht for a Coke Samsong.

The food court at Big see Marina has better value than Central festival food court.

Last night I ate chicken and rice and soup at the corner of Pattaya Tai and Soi Buakhao for 45 baht. Before I came to Phuket today I bought a Subway sandwich for 90 baht. Seaside restaurant off Soi 7 has porkchop dinner for 145 baht. Sailor Bar on Soi 8 has cheap ass food. Then there are the food counters at Foodland and Villa Market.

No I never sit on the beach, nor swim in the sea there. I can do without the UV. I actually have some study of a private nature to do, so if not doing that I am searching for food, or hookers, watching my own videos on my tablet, and also some cable TV. It is probably much too boring for the typical punter, but I am living more like a long-term resident. I don't drink, so don't frequent the bars. I like to remain a lean mean fucking machine. Just for the ladies.

Yes, it is a secret. I don't like to popularise my favorite hotels. A few years ago I arrived in Pattaya three days before Christmas and this guesthouse that I normally stay in was full. They found me another place close by so I paid for three days up till Christmas Day. Then I went down on Christmas morning to extend my stay but they said sorry your room has been booked by someone else and you have to leave. Well, I spent hours trying to find another room, carrying all my gear on my back in the hot sun. All hotels said the same thing: sorry full. I was just about to give up in despair when I decided to try the Siam Sawasdee as it was big, and yes they had an available room. But I had to buy the silly New Years dinner which was compulsory. Decided to stump up the cash in case I ended up homeless again. So that is why I don't like to promote my favorite hotel: in case you get the last room.

But I think that the accomodation situation in the high season has lightened up somewhat over the last few years. Supply may be exceeding demand these days. I think it has to do with the collapse of the rouble and the diminishing number of Russian tourists mainly?

I admit I eat at tourist places quite a lot, because they are the closest to where I'm usually staying, although I'm also familiar with some of the cheaper options that Mr. E. mentions.

The restaurant that you (OldNewGuy) mention sounds interesting. I will go there for lunch next time I'm in town. Going there for dinner is a pain in the ass I think, with the traffic jams in the late afternoon / early evening.

Here in Phuket me and 2 friends just had plates of crispy pork, kale, and rice and 3 Fantas for 440 baht. Water machines are all over town. I keep 3 1.5 liter bottles in my fridge that cost 1 baht each to fill up.

Like Franga was saying, the place where I stay I think the rooms rent for 500 baht/day, but since I have a long term lease of 6 months or more I pay 4500/month. It was built in 2008 and about 3 years ago they added a new building where the rooms rent for like 6000/month. This is the website that I found my place on 8 years ago. http://www.soidb.com/pattaya/apartment/index.html

That is why reports on people paying a chick 1 month's rent for one night blow me away. Imagine if your job back home paid you 1 month's rent for 1 day. Not about being a cheap charlie or the price police, but Pattaya is not an expensive place to live in. Now if you insist on a 30,000 baht/month condo that is possible too, but 99.9% of the Thai chicks are not living that way. (As I said before one chick that I have talked to in my building works at Sapphire Agogo.) And you can also rent a 3BR house in East Pattaya for 10,000 baht/month if that floats your boat..

Some of them being very submissive is possible (or at least acting as submissive girls), but running after him to get the last drop in her mouth seemed a bit excessive for a girl said to be virgin. But I've read his last post and I understand that it's more complicated than what I first thought and he might be in the truth in the end. Anyway I wish FL Hawk a good luck in his relationship with that girl.

    Water and accomodation, food.

For the water, I fill up at the water stations located all around where you get 6 liters for 5 baht or one liter for one baht. You need your own 6 liter container though. Either buy an initial one for around 35 baht I think (in 7/11 etc), or where I stay departing residents leave their containers behind and future guests can grab one and fill it up. I have never had any problems with the quality of the water in these little water stations. It's a great bargain, and certainly beats buying water at the convenience stores every few days.

For the accommodation, I cannot reveal the exact place, but it is in the Soi Buakhao area. The room is quite good as it is old style and measures around 30 m square. There is a double bed, Cable TV (sophon), aircon, medium sized fridge, a small desk and reasonable wifi. The bathroom is largish with an electric hot water heater. There is no cleaning service though. Yes you can bring girls back there, though I prefer to use ST rooms with ST freelancers so that they can make a mess there rather than in my room. There are a lot of these deals around I think. I find that renting by the month halves your accommodation cost compared to renting on a daily basis. The downside of the Soi Buakhao area is the lack of sidewalks for pedestrians until you hit second Road.

For food, sometimes for lunch I would head to Big see on Klang and get a very filling Chicken Curry meal with small ice coffee for 80 baht. That has brought the meal average down. So usually the dinner meal would usually be around 220 baht, but sometimes it would be 150 baht if only spag bol plus iced coffee.

Personally, I'm done living on a tight budget and never kept a detailed record, but it's absolutely possible to spend very little here if you have modest demands.
