I know girls right now struggling to make even 200 baht per day during low season. Only a very small percentage of girls are able to pull in the 5000 LT Japanese customers on a nightly basis.

This may seem strange, but I know a girl that hardly turns up to work at the bar any more, stays home watching Lakhorns and living on her savings, LOL, and taking a few sure thing private customers.

Really weird? The bar is too boring, but she will attend if I am known to be there, and she can get a good amount of money for certain. She certainly won't turn up for the prospect of making 200 Baht.

Recently went with a good customer for 4 days to Phuket. Hopefully not so boring as the bar.

Had three days in Patts mid June, misplaced the report but it turned up so posting now. This maybe my 6th or 7th trip but first report (in the main as my nights involve usually good amounts of drink so recollection very hazy next day for FR purposes.). Stayed at Baraquda McGalley, 2nd Rd. Widely tipped up in Hotel Section. Would concur with that. Good place to stay in all quarters. Previously always stayed across the street at what was Marriott Resort and Spa. This place not quite up to that but close enough and would stay again.

I don't have whole lot to say that might be of interest but here goes. This is the first time ever ventured to Red Car and very impressed. Hit it twice both times with company. But excellent sprinkling of fine talent. Place has good vibe, good music for the ages, service, prices. Etc all reasonable enough. Place was also rocking just north of midnight. One night after Red Car went to IBar. Again this was a first for me. This was sort of 2-4 am window. Took a table right in the bowels of the place and was rammed with ladies. Good all round quality. Bar girls, students, MILF and girl next door types. Seemed to be very few guys about. Perhaps I hit the place on some sort of local holiday week or something, have no idea or perhaps this is absolutely the norm but was almost overwhelmed by how many ladies all groups of 2-4 at tables seemingly waiting for something (I wonder what). So both these places are now firmly on any agenda I will have for future Patt's trips. Previously they were not. Also, will add I am just north of the big five oh (albeit trim and smart but casual attire.), European and did not feel uncomfortable or square peg in round hole at all.

Hit only go-go's at LK Metro where I felt quality and numbers were marginally down on anything can ever recall. Only ones I could give shout out to would be Destiny, Show Girls and the one on the road heading down to LKM. Right side just before bar complex called Paya or Apaya maybe? Also noticed I think for the first time in several go-go's ladies pretty much partying with their own little group, barely taking notice of customers. Drinking quite heavily and seemingly having a great time with themselves. Also noted in several bars (Show Girls, Mandarin upstairs in Bangkok and another LK Metro place that can't recall) really, really wired up girl (s). I don't mean just a fun chick who is a bit of a bar jester but girls really bouncing off the walls almost. These girls were ultra skinny in all cases. So observing this and the little gaggles of girls partying on their own was not something I recall before so much. Something and nothing maybe!

My penchant is early thirty something girls. Have to be slim and reasonably cute but don't need to be red hot. Most important is a bit of spark! Interesting, funny and spirited. This trip found three such ladies in three days. So there is still plenty of fruit still in Patts. These type of ladies tend to wind up as hawkers outside bars in and around LK Metro, 2nd Road. My MO is always to buy a few quick drinks so there quota keeps healthy then head off with them some place to dance (like Red Car) or hit another bar with karaoke. Lots of these ladies like to sing so often paid up a few hundred Bhat for them to take a turn with the mic. All the time the lady is drinking (a real drink) a little also and feeling somewhat like she is on a date. For sure this adds maybe 1,000 2,000 Bhat to the evening expenses but IME this is pure investment and goes straight to the bottom line when it comes to a super willing, passionate and enthusiastic bed partner when the time comes.

Other trivia. First time thought about swimming in the sea. Huge mistake like soup. Makes the sea at Juhu Beach (Mumbai) look like The Carribean. Avoid certainly around beach road strip of sea. Gross.

In the past used Mr Vichram for taxi's from BKK to Patts. Seems no longer in the business! So used Pattaya Central and ended up with two pretty wild drivers. Not use again and gladly pay few hundred Bhat premium for a sensible driver next time.

I would like to finish with a question if I may. Planning next trip late September to Patt's. I am thinking about staying at Renaissance Pattaya Resort & Spa. This is a new hotel in Jomtein (address given as Moo3, Na Jomtein, Sattahip). I have never ventured outside of South Pattaya. Staying at this place, which is listed as 7 miles from Pattaya, likely to a big turn off for company coming with me for the night? And or will I be battling constantly with taxi's or being seriously ripped off to go that far? I don't mind some extra expense and disruption to stay out there but if it's a constant headache for above reasons will abandon the idea of evening trying a stay there! Any informed opinion much appreciated.

Your claims of Thai people being suddenly rich, living costs in Thailand being higher than US and such, is well beyond ridiculous.

Most message boards have a very useful ignore function, so why bother to feed the trolls? Their mum's always end up calling them to supper soon enough.

There has been growth in Thailand, but income inequality is still vast, and most Thais earn not much more than the minimum wage, which is $10/ day, meaning $300/ mo. $200 goes a very, very long way here with ordinary people, albeit perhaps not with a small group of overpriced hookers. Compared to the minimum wage, offering $200 in Thailand is the exact equivalent of offering $1000 in the US. Not a life-changing amount, but not something many people would sneer at.

Just pay the pretty lady 5 k and fuck her hard till she cries if you want. Or do her passionately and slowly. Your choice, your 5 k, but the lady sets the price. She is the one giving up her body and her dignity. Don't push them to a price where she goes back to the rice farm.

There are 2 Thailand. In the right thailand, 5k is not much.

Very true but they forget not all falang are poor. If they treated falang costumers better they would get more barfines. All I see night after night is a bunch of Japanese men hogging all the girls.

Thailand's GFE advantage is fairly close to slipping away. Just about 5-10 years ago, every second hooker was sweet (and cheap! These days, it's every 10th, and given the prices, those odds are no longer fun unless you're truly desperate for that Thai GFE hooker experience which was more or less the norm before.

Well put, it's like every 10 nth or 20 nth depending on how picky you are. I felt like a junky on my last visit to Pattaya, just walking the hot and polluted streets, looking for my fix but unable to find a hooker that suites my fancy in the daytime (too many old and fat woman, let's be honest here). Yeah sometimes it's great, you don't have to look far. But sometimes, it's dry there and that doesn't help if one is thirsty.

Statistics are almost useless. Just sum totals. Would include family in isaan with buffalo and metropolitan girl in Bangkok. You want to live USA quality off life then Thailand is more expensive.

I 100% agree with you. Things have changed in these 10 years. Thailand is been expensive in Food but still accomodation is cheap. The attitude of girls has changed a lot. All have become money minded. Well A change is always seen in whole world with the time.

I been visiting Thailand from a long time. I speak Thai even but things are still hard for me sometimes.

So I just skipped my holidays from 4 Times in Thailand to 1 time in a year.

I have started new destination which is Jakarta.

Girls still don't know how to drag money from customers. The cost of food, accommodation & girls is cheap.

People respect here a lot.

I think what people forget is that whilst some girls might have some good patches where they have customers paying a lot, during the low season or when there is a coup / other political problem and there are no punters around the girls make almost no money. They don't have steady income.

If you go back 20 years, for us old enough to have been going to Thailand back then, I think a lot of the girls who were out on weekends were regular girls who were supplementing their income. Back then a 25 year old With a degree working in a bank would have made an ok salary but not enough to splurge on new shows, handbags, etc. These days, a girl in the same position probably has a much higher real salary compared to back then. The Thai economy has grown a lot and the demand for quality staff, especially those who speak a second language, has seen salaried increase a lot for some sectors. The middle class in Thailand, especially Bangkok is much better off than 20 years ago, but the lower classes not so much.
