I been visiting Thailand from a long time. I speak Thai even but things are still hard for me sometimes.
So I just skipped my holidays from 4 Times in Thailand to 1 time in a year.
I have started new destination which is Jakarta.
Girls still don't know how to drag money from customers. The cost of food, accommodation & girls is cheap.
People respect here a lot.

If you go back 20 years, for us old enough to have been going to Thailand back then, I think a lot of the girls who were out on weekends were regular girls who were supplementing their income. Back then a 25 year old With a degree working in a bank would have made an ok salary but not enough to splurge on new shows, handbags, etc. These days, a girl in the same position probably has a much higher real salary compared to back then. The Thai economy has grown a lot and the demand for quality staff, especially those who speak a second language, has seen salaried increase a lot for some sectors. The middle class in Thailand, especially Bangkok is much better off than 20 years ago, but the lower classes not so much.

Posts: 6325I know girls right now struggling to make even 200 baht per day during low season. Only a very small percentage of girls are able to pull in the 5000 LT Japanese customers on a nightly basis.

There has been growth in Thailand, but income inequality is still vast, and most Thais earn not much more than the minimum wage, which is $10/ day, meaning $300/ mo. $200 goes a very, very long way here with ordinary people, albeit perhaps not with a small group of overpriced hookers. Compared to the minimum wage, offering $200 in Thailand is the exact equivalent of offering $1000 in the US. Not a life-changing amount, but not something many people would sneer at.

Posts: 402You Americans just need to accept the average America no longer has a lot of money. Your 200 USD is nothing to Thai people now. There are many many families in Pattaya now. Gogo bars are barely brothels with most girls masking a salary and drinks beónus and need only 1 or 2 customer short time per week.
In pattaya you either settle for average girls (who are still decent but the main reason to hire them is their personality) or you play the GoGo game of buy 10 drinks fight for scraps of japanese men. Maybe next time don't vote for idiot republicans with economic policies that only make sense for a minority. If you are in they minority then you have no problem paying 6 k LT. She is a lovely girl and an extra 2 k baht is just $60. Stop being tight wad.

I'm thinking of spending New Years Eve in Pattaya. What is the general scene like? I suppose everywhere will be in party mode and full of people.

On second thought, ya. Let us just move on. Because this banter is really a waste of time. Too many Ferraris to bang out there.

You should toss out more of your funny remarks, as that is all they are good for.
I never stated I hate Pattaya, nor suggest that mongers should question coming here. In fact, I continue to rank it up there with Angeles City as my favorite places to monger and recommend it to all. I simply agree we all have choices and other top girls can be found in Pattaya or other countries without paying the high prices of these gogo bars. Now, lets just move on.

With respect to your comment about some Thais character, I could not agree with you anymore. Many Thai people as noted by others on this board and my opinion are racist, rude, and some men can be violent. They really don't welcome Farangs into their culture and embrace them even over time. If you get in a fight with a Thai man, be prepared to have many other Thai men jump in and help their fellow comrade beat the Farang, no matter if we are right or wrong. Also, lets not forget Lewis and Rosemary Owen from Wales, both grandparents in their 60's on vacation with their son who got beat up mercilessly by several Thais in Songkran because their son accidentally bumped into a Thai man causing him to spill a drink of beverage.
If it were not for the nice girls, I would not come here, so true.
