I don't know about that. I would still find the climate desirable for half the year anyway and the cuisine pleasing to my palette, not to mention the relative safety of Thai Buddhist culture and the fact that I find some Thai girls very attractive. But you are right in that if I had $400,000 in disposable annual income to play around with I would definitely up my game a tad and search for the "car show pretty" and TV model girls BKKdog was talking about a few days ago. To that end I would have annual memberships with at least 2 or 3 high end BKK G-clubs and get well known in those places. Since money would be no object, I think I would do quite well with upper echelon Thai girls wherever they may be hanging out. I would start with a few of those agency girls working in What's Up A Go Go. Some of them are pretty hot. They would constitute my new "low end" and I would take it higher from there. Of course taking long 4 or 5 day weekend breaks in Macau, Tokyo, Jakarta, Manila, Moscow or anywhere else truly beautiful girls are found would be a regular thing that I wouldn't think twice about.

You are indeed missing something. It actually costs to get into or leave out of every country, but the price is usually included in your ticket and the airline passes the money on to the proper government authorities.

I'm quite aware of that, having traveled abroad since the late 70's. But, thanks for your input. I was referring to out of pocket costs on top the more expensive airfare (or extra plane trip) to begin with. I've understand other travel expenses in nations neighboring Thailand can be higher. All that adds up. And that is what I mean by "false economy". Otherwise, a mere $35 for a visa would not be an obstacle.

I sway from E's post depending on how many hours until the bar closes and how much the BF is. If it's 2 am, the BF is 1000 baht, and the club closes in 2 hours I will wait. The air ticket doesn't include visa costs, be it only a stamp on the passport.

Airport taxes include a whole variety of services, such as baggage handling, security checks, etc. But do not include the immigration services.

These are provided by the government.

Of course, very creative government decided that lifting 10 or 30 or 50 bucks for a "visa" is a nice wwy for them to turn immigration services from a cost center into a profit center.

All of a sudden, at the simple rate of 10 $ per visitor, at a rate of one every 3 minutes, each agent can generate 200 $ an hour income. Not bad. And 10 $ is very conservative.

I'm sorry, but at least in Pattaya, IMO and in my experience, that statement / conclusion is utter, total BS.

People who prefer GOGO girls, and who like to point and click, may not like the extra, time, work etc that a Club like Insomnia requires. I only buy a drink after I have a deal. No need at all to buy before, unless you want to party with a a girl there for several hours.

And there are no other costs after, unless you wish to extend and keep a girl for days. Which I have done, because I just wanted to.

IMO, lazy folks, folks who have limited or no game, or those that just want purely sex and nothing else, will never really like a place like Insomnia. And that bull about needing an accountant is nothing but crap pulled out of one's behind.

Had 2 nights layover in Thailand while returning from China. Thought of taking full advantage of it and head to Pattaya for the layover. Was waiting in immigration. Long line fellas took me almost 3 hours to clear immigration but gave me enough time to research on the place to stay in Pattaya. Booked VT6 near Central mall considering all the good reviews of the place.

Completed Immigration came to the fourth floor as per the advice of seniors and caught a taxi dropping off passengers and heading back to Pattaya for 900 B. VT6 condo was every bit as advertised huge room with spacious balcony and modern interiors. Settled down comfortably it was around 9 had something to eat and slept off keeping an alarm of 12 . Headed down to WS could see loads of banner for the early morning marathon. Did not give it any thoughts. Headed to Tonys Disco on a friends recommendation and boy was it good. Huge Spacious floor with ample sitting place and tables everywhere, they charge a entry of 250 b which can be redeemed for a drink (not bad considering all the gogos around want me to buy a drink first and then get inside).

Found a empty corner and sat down sipping my beer music was mostly Indian with some Arabic songs interspersed. Was on my third drink when saw a beauty down near the DJ console. Held my bottle up to her said salud, she found that to be funny and came over. We spoke for some time I bought her a drink a tequila to be specific.

I told her that I want her for LT only and not looking for ST she said 2000 b for the same we agreed on the condition that we will take a room upstairs (200 b) come back after we have shagged once and then party some more and go back to my room. She was okay with it.

I do go to other sources for info on Pattaya, such as youtube and noticed Pattaya has its share of massage parlors. One vblogger commented that the MPs put the price signs for the various services out front during the day, but the signs are gone in the evening.

Maybe that was an old post. At most massage places the prices are printed on the windows. To be clear, in general a massage parlor is just a massage parlor and extras can not be guaranteed, unless you are at certain sex shops that are open under the guise of massage parlors.

Funny, I do read posts from people who complain about rising prices in Thailand, and are opting for Cambodia or Laos. However, a brief look at travel costs to those places, and other related costs ($35 just to enter your country?) would appear to again result in false economy? Or am I missing something there?

Massage places advertise prices of between 200 to 400 baht for one or two hours of "oil" massage.

Of course that price does not include any of the naughty services. Those you negotiate directly with the girl. The price for the massage you pay to the house and is - more or less - their form of barfine.

I too used to be upset by the concepts of barfine and ladydrinks, until I realized it doesn't matter. Just add up all the costs (your drinks, her drinks, price for the room or barfine or massage costs, her fees, . . .) and then decide. "Cheap" and "expensive" at first sight may be really different when you look at the whole.

For instance, a Beach Road freelancer may be cheap and you pay no barfine, but you have to pay for a ST hotel room unless you bring her to your hotel room which may be more far away so you need a taxi to get there. If would not be fair to the Soi 6 girls not to include the ST room costs or taxi-fare to your hotel and even the extra time you spent in getting there when comparing total prices. And it wouldn't be the first time a freelancer asks you to buy some food or drinks for her. Sometimes they don't even have condoms with them, so you have to add those too.

And when picking up freelancers from discos and such, you better bring an accountant with you to keep tabs on all the extra costs!

But, I can understand if some old hands are disappointed by what they say is a declining experience and higher cost.
