Actually, what you wrote makes sense. Maybe my friends are wrong. By the way, 2 Go Go Bars opened on Soi 6. Very close to each other. One is named Passions, can't remember the name of the other one, which is a few doors down. Both have good looking dancers. I took one to my hotel for LT. This is kind of surprising. Soi 6 is the last place in Pattaya where I would have expected to find all nighters. It seemed to me in the past to be just for "quickies". But I guess the go go bars there are much different than the other Soi 6 bars.

Passion club has not just opened, its been open for years. And yes you can barfine them for takeout for 500.

If you take a girl out of Kinnaree, its the same 350, you have to remember the girls in there are independent, work when they want, days off when they want, the bar get the barfine, I have taken several girls from there as I live in that area, and its always been 350.

1. Over the last 10 years the number of tourists arriving in Pattaya has more than doubled. It is pegged at around 7 mn for 2014.

Its hard to peg how many tourists are actually buying flesh and not just on a tour package or partying their way thru Asia.

1. Over the last 10 years the number of tourists arriving in Pattaya has more than doubled. It is pegged at around 7 mn for 2014.

2. Occupancy rates of hotels average at 54% through the year but from Nov to Feb it hovers at 72%.

3. Average Tariff for the year is around 1770 THB. From Nov to Feb it is 2427 THB.

So there ARE enough weekend millionaires in town and hence one would expect prices to spike.

Those who state they have managed to hold their price must indeed be excellent negotiators. Tips on negotiation are welcome, everyone would benefit.

I guess it is different for me because I live here. Even when I was visiting I never experienced any up charge except for hotels during high season. I could always find a guest house with no increase though. I don't much care for the go go's and I don't have a problem walking away when the deal is not right. I never needed to pull the finest in Pattaya, just wanted excellent service.

I guess if you go to the go go's where they already charge a premium, you would be expected to pay more.

Thank you and everyone else that responded! Flight to Bangkok are still reasonable. I am thinking about booking room before I arrive online. But, in Thailand in the busy season I wonder if they will really hold my room. I have my doubts. But, I will put a plan together.

Contrary to many beliefs, the Thai are not out to cheat you.

I have never had a problem with a hotel booking in Thailand, be it price or availability, even on days I arrived quite late at the hotel.

And if you go through one of the reputable hotel sites, such as booking.com I see no reason why it should go wrong at all. They have excellent customer care.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I agree with you, I should have put a comma or explanation point after assume, that one can and should negotiate most of the time. I find it virtually impossible to negotiate at a Soapy the prices seem to be set. But if I like a girl and get to know her I usually work on a number outside when she isn't working. Also, from my experience when I get a number I do not like, rarely if ever do I let her know that I have been here so and so times. Doing that usually ruins the mood or feeling I start to develop for the girl and once she throws out a number that I do not like she accepting less I feel I'm going to get less. Usually I let them know one way or another from the beginning I know the score so if the topic of BF comes up it is usually a acceptable rate for me.

Never noticed this but the AGOGO's will up the barfine on New Years Eve.

This practice has been going on as long as I have been living here, especially with Go Go's that have set prices in Barfines like the Happy Group which today is 800 baht all night. So on Christmas, New Years Eve and New Year Day, it will double to 1600 baht. Now with all the clubs hiring Agency girls that have two-three tier Barfines I do not know. As for the Happy Group many of the Super-Stars will be holding out for 7,000 plus for LT, if they even go LT, and if they do don't expect LT to be too long. As noted by Mr. E. Do not assume you can negotiate.

Has anyone ever spent Christmas in Pattaya or new years? I am thinking about booking my first Christmas time trip. But, heard it is very busy at that time. I worry, I will not be able to get a room. I was also researching online and read girls charge an extra 500 baut for short time? I don't know if that is true. Is the whole month of January hard to get a cheap room as well? I been to Thailand many times just never on a major holiday. If Thailand is too busy at that time I was thinking Vietnam but worry the girls all go back home for a week from the hot tocs. That defeats the whole purpose of my trip.

Just search for your hotel and book now if you are worried about room availability. After reading your post I jumped on 3 different hotel search engines and within seconds found rooms available in many hotels ranging from 5* down to 3*, prices seemed a bit higher but nothing like one sees at Carnival time in Rio. So if you want to go, takes all of a minute to book a hotel and then just go.

And as Mr. E succinctly put as always, there is no set in stone policy on charging 500 baht more. This is SEA almost everything is up for negotiation. Just the negotiation is a bit harder during Christmas season because the demand is much higher.
