Why is this place so hush-hush about the extras. After all they are letting you select your masseuse out of a fishbowl, I thought there would likely be an understanding that FS would naturally follow after the massage / body rub / body slide etc. That's how it happens in other shops which have a fishbowl.

The Coconut Bar is all yours. I have been going to Pattaya for 35+ years, never saw much on Beach Road that I cared for.

But then again, I'm not a cheap charlie either; to each their own.

I have been going to Pattaya for 10+ years now and I have found quite a lot of gems among the SW's on Beach Road and (sometimes) Walking Street. In fact some of the best looking and nicest girls I ever met in Pattaya were SW's. And they never worked in a bar or agogo.

To each his own indeed but I think the point is you have to take your time and have patience when you're looking for 'your perfect girl', regardless WHERE you are looking. So this can mean you have to visit a dozen beer bars, or a dozen oilies or a dozen agogo's or any combination of those. OR you have to walk up and down Beach Road 3 times (but not the whole stretch, LOL!).

And yes, it has to do with money also but not all of the Coconut Bar customers are cheap charlies. They just don't have the budget or are not willing to pay thousands of Baths each day for bar girls or agogo girls.

If any of you are near or can get to Pattaya Klang (It is the road where the Big see Extra is located) and 3rd Road. Slightly up from 3rd Road leading up to Big see Extra, on the left you see a huge Green building 3 floors? The entrance has dark smoke glass doors (opens at 1 pm) the later the better? When you enter on the right you will see a fish bowl, tell the mamasan what number you want and whether you want 1 or 2 hours. The rate I think at this time is 260 for 2 hours. They will take you upstairs to a large dark room with a bunch of beds with curtains A / see. You will be given a pants to change into.

The fishbowl is a give away that you can get extra's but not every girl is there for it. The first and foremost you will get a legit Thai massage. The girl you pick will make small talk with you if you like or just want to sleep. I have never been hit on for extra by any of the girls I've picked but thru time through small conversation I have been ask to take them out. There are a few girls that work there that do extra and during your legit massage and they like you would ask if you like a oil massage? If you say yes, they take you to the 3rd floor, FS is 1500 but that was years ago.

But normal service is legit massage and oil's are usually done by the much older ladies the one's that like like bulldogs?

As the thread title. And I am not a racist guy BUT. When I am wanting a real massage, I pick a shop where I you can often see the customers laid back and either just quiet or even maybe asleep (I have myself dozed off).

It becomes a complete wasted hour when some hoard (certain nationalities, often travel in groups) come in, demand discount on a bulk order (or not) but then settle onto the mats or chairs. Then it gets worse, as they don't shut up and disturb the tranquility of the place.

If this is in the same drab as the spitting Chinese. Sorry this is my rant. If any of you reading this and know who you are. Please know how to keep your manners!!

I think if you are looking for quiet then one has a better chance to stay away from shops that are large and can cater to the large group. These shops in my opinion (management) will listen but if they are catering to the tour group and the money they are getting I seriously doubt if they would care if you come back or not but sure they will listen. It is all about the money!

You do have a right to rant but when you " If any of you reading this and know who you are " I doubt any of the problem people you speak of are on this board?

Thanks, LBM. I've walked past Eden Massage many times but never gone in. I'll give it a try when I'm there in January.

I've had some great massages at the end of soi buakhao and central pattaya road. There are a few very small massage shops there that offer thai for 100 bht and its legitimate. They also offer oi' massage at I think about 150 or 200 bht. At these prices the girls don't make much so I always tip them at least 100 bht.

It's definitely worth a go.

You'd get better results by addressing this with the shop owner/manager than by doing it here where those people you're ranting about are so unlikely to be reading your rant.

I've seen some good lookers on Beach Road as I make my way to WS, but usually too early in the evening for me to make a move. I've also picked up one or two on the way back to the hotel alone, never had any issues. Just no mamason to complain to if something goes wrong.

Beach Road might suck, but there is so much more to this town then one fucking road!

Not really, for the fans of Beach Road. Its just not a group that's going to get much enjoyment out of going to bars or go-gos. You know the old saying - "if you want to fuck someone, go to beach road, if you want to get fucked, go to the bars or go-gos" - truer now than ever with the outrageous prices being charged. In fairness the Beach also isn't as cheap as it once was, and its possible the decline in quality and service is even more severe there than in other venues, but the deciding factor is that when you go to a bar you have to waste time and money sitting there buying an unwanted Coke just to look at 5-15 girls. No thanks.

Generally, I do not have any favourites in terms of massage shops and whenever I feel like a legitimate massage, I walk into any of the hundred shops around Pattaya which has the sign of a foot at the entrance which kind of sets out how massages are therapeutic etc. It's not a sure shot way of avoiding being hassled for extras but I have not been troubled so far. Even managed a clean massage on soi 6 relying on this technique.

I use a few legit places but mostly likely it is not even close in your area of stay! If you are near Soi Buakhao, LK. Metro. I hear that Eden Massage on Soi Diana is pretty good for legit. I have not use it but one of my friends stays down there and does on a regular basis mostly oil.

.... So far, however, I've not found such a place in Pattaya.

Thanks for the heads up LBM. Some of these places I didn't know so I will check them out if Beach Road sucks.

Here is my take on FL, last night and I might have to correct some of my statements. I do not walk around looking for FL, on Beach Road any longer and do not go to W. S. Just for that purpose but his is what I observed last night after having dinner. I was down on W. S. At 11:30 pm and parked my bike at the end of 2nd Rd and Pattaya Tai.

After parking I walked down towards W. S. Stopped in front of the Bamboo bar to just listen to the music and check inside out. Pretty busy for a Monday night but impossible to check the ladies out unless you actually walk in and doing so means a waiter would follow you expecting you buy a drink. Wasn't going to use my excuses again saying I was looking for a friend?

As I started to walk could never get to W. S. Using the sidewalk it is too narrow right at the Kabob shop and money exchange booth since all the Chinese Tour groups are either too slow or standing around that area. I noticed that the exchange booth for 100 bills was only 32.20 what a rip off since the rate closed something like 32.89? Later when I checked out 2 others seem the best place on W.S. are the two near Soi Diamond just next to Moon G.G. one was giving 32.80. At the entrance to W. S. I noticed 4 right in front of the ATM, FL, up close nothing to jump all over but the Indians group was working them over. As I walked down W. S. I did noticed not many tonight but I did noticed some walking and not standing in one place. They blend in with all the tourist at time and for me at least there is a sense about them which I can't explain that gives them away as FL, a few times they caught me staring at them and they stare back with a smile. Majority of them did not appeal to me! At the P. 72 bar they had set up a police table so no FL were standing there but further down right next to the Roo Bar, at the foot of the entrance to Happy GOGO, there were 6-7 and a few LB? Across from Peppermint also a few.

At 2 pm, walking back to my bike from Marine, I noticed maybe due to the time no many FL, along 2nd Road, the few I saw again not appealing and look like the type that like to go with Indians and MidEastern, in general they are heavy and their hair is jet black and heavy black eyeliner.

Two days to Christmas and I've been told double barfine at the Happy Go Go group! At Bacarra a hand full of top girls will be asking 7,000 baht especially on NYE? The Disco's are already gearing up to give prime table for those who buy bottle service? Not sure what I will do Christmas or NYE? Maybe check out the Steaks and go for Hamburger to see a few of my regulars at 1000/1200 baht?
