Has anyone got any comments about flying from Pattaya to Phuket on Bangkok Airways?

I am thinking about doing a multi-hop trip.

Bangkok --car- Pattaya --plane- Phuket --plane-Bangkok.

Flying direct from Pattaya to Phuket just seems to be a smarter plan than going back into Bangkok and flying down from there.

I've done that trip several limes, very easy and convenient. Ten minutes after you have landed you've got your bag and are on your way again. Bangkok Air provides free coffeem juice, water and snacks at Utapao as well as free wifi.

I've already bought my air ticket fir February, flying to Phuket from Utapao.

Day 32 Sunday March 30,2014 Pattaya Day 1:

I had scheduled VR Taxi Limo service to pick me up at noon for the drive to Pattaya. I use these guys all the time. I have even used them for airport pickups to drive straight to Pattaya upon arrival in LOS. They are always on time and very reliable.

At around 11:30 am I called Mr. Keak. His representative told me the driver was on his way. Three minutes later the driver called to tell me he was waiting in the Marriott parking lot. Actually, I found out later that the driver had driven up from Pattaya early in the morning to beat rush hour traffic and had been waiting for me since 9:30 AM in the hotel parking lot. I checked out of the Marriott Executive Apartments Thonglor and I met my driver who had pulled up in front of the hotel. He introduced himself as Mr. Be.

Mr. Be took Ekkamai to the Toll Road. BKK Traffic was light this Sunday and we got out of BKK pretty fast. Mr. Be put some country rock on the DVD player and I snoozed in the back seat. About halfway to Pattaya he asked me if I was hungry and if I wanted to stop at the food plaza. I told him I was not hungry, but that I wanted to stop and get something cold to drink. I bought a coke light and an ice coffee for my driver. Then walking back to the car, half-jokingly, I asked Mr. Be if I could drive to Pattaya and he surprised me and said ok. So I drove the rest of the way and we both got a good laugh out of it. Mr. Be commented that I was a good chauffeur and I told him he was a good customer and I expected a tip. About 100 yards before the end of the highway, Mr. Be suggested that I pull over and we switched drivers so the cops would not pull us over. Less than 10 minutes late he dropped me off at the Holiday Inn. I gave him a hundred baht tip and confirmed with him my return ride to BKK on April 2.

At the Priority Club check in I was upgraded to a high floor deluxe room facing the bay. My room was modern, light, and airy. It also had a small, but nice balcony. The price was around $100 per night. I changed into my bathing suit and hung out at the pool for about an hour. The Holiday Inn has a great infinity pool facing the beach and it felt real good to be back on the ocean. I only wish Pattaya Beach was clean and not polluted. I would definitely spend more time in Pattaya if I could swim in the water. But the Holiday Inn pool is real nice and the next best thing. Another good thing about the holiday Inn is they have a large kid's pool on the mezzanine level so the Adult pool is quiet and relaxing. I hate loud splashing kids in hotel swimming pools.

After pool time I relaxed for a while in my room and then at around 5:30 I headed out to check out the Six which was a few blocks away. To my surprise not much was going on. Most of the better bars were closed and shuttered and not many girls were about. Q Bar was one of the only bars open for business, but it did not seem like their best girls were available at the moment, so I decided to keep my powder dry and wait until the evening to score a hot Walking Street Go Go girl. The deadliness of Soi 6 was very surprising, because usually at this time all the bars are open and the girls are all sitting outside waiting for customers. I wondered what the fuck was up. I hoped it was not another holiday / bar closing that would spoil my first night here.

To kill a little time and because I had nothing better to do, I stopped off at Honey 2 Massage parlor on Second Road near Soi 6 and I checked out the lineup. IMHO Pattaya soapy massage parlors are not very good and can't be compared to BKK Soapies. Honey 2's fishbowl confirmed my opinion. There were about 30 girls present when I arrived plus a handful of customers. A host explained the pricing to me. He told me that M class girls are 2200 bt and numbered girls are 1800 bt. I ordered a coke light and sat down on a comfortable couch in front of the fishbowl. I could not see much difference in quality between the M class and the numbered girls. A lot of girls were giving me suggestive looks and signals to pick them. But nobody really turned me on and I again decided to wait for much more attractive Go Go girls later on. On the way back to the Holiday Inn I stopped off at a 7/11 to pick up some provisions. Then I headed back to the room.

Around 7:30 I headed back out. Something was definitely going on. The bay side of Beach Road was lined with a multitude of temporary roll away food carts, grill restaurants, stands selling T shirts and every other kind tourist stuff you can possibly imagine. It was so crowded with these stands and tourists that I found it impossible to walk down the sidewalk. Since I had not been to Pattaya since the powers that be narrowed the walkway in order to add another lane for traffic, I did not know what to make of all this congestion. Was this a special holiday event or was this the new Beach Road given over to tourist concession stands and small portable restaurants. In addition to it being impossible to walk here there was no room for freelancers either. So I knew this had to be temporary special occasion and that is why Soi 6 coincidentally was closed down too.

I took a baht bus to Walking Street. The roll away restaurants and tourist concession stands lined the entire beachfront all the way from the Holiday Inn to Walking street. It was incredible. Walking Street, however, was not that crowded. I grabbed some dinner on Soi 15 at one of the small restaurants that line that Soi. The chili prawns and som tom were great. Beer was not available due to the apparent holiday restrictions, but the owner told me beer would be available later in the evening. After dinner I walked past Sapphire Go Go, an old favorite bar of mine, but nothing was going on there. I returned to Walking Street and decided to check out Sensations Go Go. I had never been to this bar before, but a friend had told me that there were a lot of hotties in this bar. When I arrived I saw around 30 girls dancing on the two stages. I sat down and ordered a beer. Thank Buddha they were serving alcohol.

Sensations is not a large bar, but they have two stages. The girls on the first stage did not appeal to me at all. I saw a few nice faces, but it looked like there was a lot of silly cone over there. The girls on the 2nd stage didn't look too much better. A new group of girls hit both stages. I got some friendly looks from two or three of the girls, but they were not quite what I was looking for. A note on Sensations Go Go and Coyote barfines:

Sensations is a Pattaya Walking Street Go Go that employs Agency girls, aside from their hostesses and service girls. At least 50% to 60% of the dancers in Sensations are Coyotes and the balance are regular bikini girls. The barfine for Coyotes is 1500 bt before midnight and 1000 bt after midnight. I think the barfine for regular girls is 700 bt anytime. The goal of the staggered barfine is to keep as many hot girls in the bar as long as possible attracting customers and maximizing drink revenue and it works. This is a disturbing trend in the Pattaya Go Go scene and I really hope it does not come to BKK, but there is nothing much to do about it as far as I am concerned as long as the Agency Coyotes are of such high quality.

I have known a few really nice Agency girls and after I got to know these girls (barfined them at least once) they offered me workarounds to avoid their high barfine. For example, I used to arrange dates with Nt, my regular What's Up Go Go agency stunner to barfine her at midnight after her bar's barfine dropped from 2000 bt to 1000 bt. Nt would not barfine any other customer as long as made a date with her and I arrived at her bar before midnight. On a couple of occasions I dropped by What's Up at around 11:30 pm and she would be sitting with a paying Japanese or a Western customer. She would give me a knowing glance and I would sit down at another table. A couple of Nt's friends would come by to entertain me and in 5 or 10 minutes Nt would extricate herself from her drink paying customer and join me. I would buy her one lady drink and then at midnight she would go and change her clothes.

We would also arrange to get together during the afternoon around 2 pm for lunch. Nt knew many great local Pattaya restaurants. After lunch we would do something GFE like going bowling or visit the botanical garden or go shopping (her favorite). Then if time permitted we would head back to my hotel for a late afternoon quickie. No barfine.

Nt also came up to see me in BKK one time. Actually she came to see her young daughter who lived with her mother in BKK. She would come by my hotel around midnight and spend the rest of the night with me. Again there was no barfine. So I like to think of the large staggered barfine as a finders fee for meeting some very sexy girls and if we click the girls will come up with workarounds to reduce the barfine on subsequent dates. Oh what a time I would have if I only lived in Pat.

So to each his own on whether you want to play the staggered barfine game or not. I think it depends on one's circumstances and time frame. I definitely suggest bar hoping Pattaya Walking Street Go Go's and comparing the quality levels of girls at Coyote Agency bars like Sensations and What's Up to quality levels at non Agency bars like Baccara (Walking Street), Happy, and SuperBaby to name a few. I believe I said make clear what you want up front and then negotiate price. I'm sure a soi 6 girl can be found to do it for the right price.

Nothing new about this. There have been regular police crackdowns on Beach Road and Walking Street since forever. Things always return to normal quickly. I've lived here almost 7 years now and life is still good. As others have said -- it's all about attitude.

This place, Pattaya, has just gone downhill rapidly. Did three tours, each worse than the last, and never really felt relaxed there, the energy was all wrong, I hardly fucked anybody compared to BKK, but hten again, I like to find a few good providers and just rotate them on the trip, it works because we get to know each other and that means great GFE not mediocre lots of bangs.

I actually 'live' in Chiang Mai now, among 'regular' thai people, and it is like moving from, say Soho (London) or Times Sq. (New York) to the suburbs. Folks are normal, you 'wai' and 'wai' in return (most important!) Not everyone, but the sort of folks you shake hands with back home if that makes sense.
