Can anyone give their recommendations on their top three favourite restaurants in Pattaya? Not trying to be funny, but I am looking for ideas across all prices and all types of food.

Cheap Eats:

Breakfast buffet at the Lek Hotel or the Apex Hotel, at roughly 150 baht. You won't find haute cuisine at either place, but you will be able to chow down on a wide variety of food, both western and Thai. The dining area at the Lek Hotel is a little more exposed to the elements, so it's nice during the temperate months and you can eat poolside. The dining room at the Apex Hotel is a little more enclosed (although there is a poolside section) so it's better when it's raining. For those of you who might like to get a little work done, the Apex Hotel has free wi-fi (which can be a bit fiddly).

The night market, west side of Soi Buakaow, opposite Soi 21. This is entirely Thai food, sold from hawker stalls. You eat under a tent at long communal tables. The fare here is basic and hearty and incredibly cheap. You really have to work to spend 200 baht. I like the charcoal grilled whole fish with a salt crust. If you'd like beer, there is a 7-11 across the street. This place gets going about 1600 and for the next two hours it's packed with working girls getting a bit before a long evening. In the same vein, there are hawker stalls on the south side of Soi 15, just east of Walking Street. (About 10 meters from the Sapphire Club.) The variety isn't as good as at the night market, but the convenience can't be beat.

Pub grub at The Butcher's Arms or the Swann Pub. The former is on the east side of Soi Buakaow, about 100 meters south of the night market. The latter is on the south side of Soi 13/1 (formerly known as the Ritz Pub) between Beach Road and Second Road. The Butcher's Arms has a very comfortable dining room with proper tables and booths that's air conditioned. Excellent for when you're seeking a break from the heat and humidity. The former has a smaller al fresco dining room on a quiet soi. Both have free wi-fi and the Butcher's plays some nice 80's music.

No-Name Open Air Restaurant Near the Butcher's Arms: This place is on the west side of Soi Buakhow, but set back from the street about 30 meters, in the middle of a big vacant lot. It doesn't look like much, but give it a try for great Thai food served by a cheerful staff at low prices.

More upscale:

The lunch buffet at the Hilton Hotel dining room. A little bit spendy, but superb food. Go to the hotel's web site to the see the menu, which changes from day to day.

One of my main wingmen screwed up:

Him: I was at the golf club with xxxx a few days ago. Saw a chick I thought looked tight at devils den. Pointed her out to xxxx and thought nothing of it. Next thing I know the security from devils den gave me a phone number. It was her. She said she wanted to see me but would be morning yesterday. I thought she was full of shit so I got someone Sunday night. I'll be damned if she didn't call. So I apologized and said I'd be available this morning.

Me: Damn. That is sweet.

Him: She just left. Got mad when I mentioned money.

Me: Mannn. Why you do that shit.

Him: Being stupid. She was cool too. Was shy at first but opened up. Said she's on her way with the dd van to pick up a customer. Said they normally don't fuck on the way from BKK to Pattaya. Just BJ. Told me she went to 808 just to see black dudes. But too shy to approach. I asked why me. Said she saw me so much at golf club she didn't want to pass it up.

My 3 favorite places to dine all have the same name, they are all called Dining at the why, not hard to find in in Pattsville, various franchises all around town, even more the 711's. P.S. The letter would not upload so that the reason for the word why showing instead.

It is one piece of information I did not have with me on last years trip, and I felt at a loss without it.

I did make it to Raan Derm on Soi 22 in Bangkok and loved it.

I would be looking for similar type restaurants in Pattaya for this years trip.

I don't want to contradict the CDC, but the "American" tradition of circumcision certainly predates the knowledge of its benefiits. So those benefits are just a happy coincidence and an a posteriori explanation.

And the "hygiene" aspect has always been false. There is no difference between a circumsized or an uncircumsized cock as far as hygiene is concerned. Both will need some water and soft soap to stay clean, and perhaps even soap is not really necessary.

American circumcision certainly predates the knowledge of the benefits. OP stated there was NO benefit whatsoever. I simply stated that there is now proof of such.

I will respectfully disagree with your hygiene opinion. I understand it's slightly more work to keep the uncircumcised units clean, and I've certainly met more than one lady who disliked giving BBBJ to uncut men due to their hygiene issues. I personally have little experience, being an American. However, I think the cut units "look" better. For whatever THAT'S worth. LOL.

Suave and debonair as ever, Mr. Bumpo had this riposte to several cranky posts from an "Old Bugger" heaping abuse upon just about everything and everybody in Pattaya:

The Walking Street you describe is the exact opposite of the real Walking Street. You write that there are no pretty young girls on Walking Street. Are you fucking kidding? Did you check out any of the quality go go clubs? There are some really hot young girls to be had on Walking Street. The short time price is 2000 baht to 2500 plus a variable barfine (1500 before midnight and 600 after). Soi 6 has some reasonably attractive and friendly girls for a more economic price. The price is 700 to 1000 for short time (on the premises) and 300 for the room, plus drinks. I agree with you, however, that Pattaya massage parlors are a big miss. The quality is not very good.

I suspect Mr. Bugger might be a big consumer of porn. I don't suggest that's a bad thing. (g) But guys who watch a lot of porn get *VERY* hung up on looks. That's understandable, given that porn is almost entirely a visual medium. (Yes I know some auteurs try to do more than film hot people fucking. But the economics of the adult video industry just don't support their efforts.) When a guy is totally focused on looks, it's easy for him to find fault with the girls he sees in Pattaya's punter havens. There is no way these women are going to be as hot as the civilian hotties he admires on the BTS in Bangkok, or the supermodels he ogles online or the high society sweeties standing next to the sports cars at the auto show. Soon it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy because the guy pays more attention to the fuglies than to the better looking girls.

As everybody knows, the brain is the major sex organ. So guys who focus entirely on looks miss out on other aspects of the Pattaya scene that most of us find exciting. They ignore the beach vibe, the energy that comes from so many people on holiday and the sheer scale of the naughty boy industry. Worst of all, they miss out on simple human interaction with other people on vacation and the Thai people, especially the girls who are in the game so to speak. Are they absolute knockouts? Of course not. But as Mr. Bumpo notes the go go clubs are full of young women who are very attractive indeed. I'll bet that if Mr. Bugger got outside his head for a few minutes he'd have a good time hooking up with them. It's rather like going to the movies. You've got to suspend your disbelief. I don't think my short time sweetie is a perfect ten any more than I think Bruce Willis can defeat a terrorist gang single-handed. But for a few hours I'm willing to go with it. I think if Mr. Bugger gave the curmudgeon act a rest he might have some fun too.

This was my sentiment when I visited Pattaya. I could not believe the lack of good looking girls available. As I noted in one of my Sosua reports, I saw more prettier faces in one night's visit to a bar than spending a week in Pattaya. I was not too keen on the attitude of some of these Pattaya girls either. Plan to return in February, but instead of spending two weeks, I decided to spend a week in A / see and only a week in Pattaya instead. I was so disappointed with Pattaya that I want to see what Philippines has to offer.

I am heading to the Philippines for the first time next week, just spending 4 days there before heading to Thailand (Pattaya). It will be interesting to compare Philippines to Thailand.

I have been going to Pattaya for the past 3 years and have had all in all a pretty good time there. In regards to the girls you can still find some real gems there, I find going to Pattaya in the low-season is the best time to go for finding more good looking girls, as there are less customers booking them up and taking them away early.

After I return from the Philippines I will let you guys know what I think of the place compared to Thailand.

I am an atheist buddhist and an ordained priest of the Church of the Latter Day Dude. And I try to convince people to give up believing in gods. Religion (in the sense of believing in gods, especially if it are montheistic gods) on the balance did more bad than good. So "letting people be" will perpetuate the badness.

It has no medical or practical value whatsoever. Most western countries are deeply rooted in Christianity and that is why it was common practice before. These days it is not as common as it once was because medical personnel woke up and realized it served no purpose but to torment the shit out of babies and young boys. If it was meant for your dick to be partially cut off then you would have been born that way.

I have to disagree on the medical and practical value. I was circumcised at age 40 for medical reasons. It was a painless operation and I am completely satisfied with the result. Two weeks after the operation sex was allowed again (the stitches had been removed) and it was better than before the operation.
