Walked Beach Road again this morning, 5:30 or so, about same condition as yesterday morning, 10 girls, three Lady Boys within several meters of Marriott entrance. My first thought is you got lucky (haha) and hooked up with a nut case. My second thought is to ask if you did an inventory of your valuables. You may have been drugged and robbed, which is not an unheard of scenario in many mongering destinations all over the world. I spend the next three days taking Scuba instruction and going on scuba trips to get my Open Water certificate. Classes and boat trips stare early. You have to be at the dive center by 98 AM every day. Bar hopping and late night pickups from Red Car or Insomnia would be off the menu. For a couple of days. But I figured I could go into town to get a relaxing soapy or hit Soi 6 for a quickie before going home early to get a good night's sleep.

Incidentally, I can't recommend Mermaid's Diving center enough. A bunch of great guys and real pros too. I learned a lot and had a real blast. One on one instruction with plenty of time under water. Especially if your are going alone.

The first day of instruction, which was primarily in the pool under the hot sun really kicked my ass and I am beat. will be leaving pattaya tomorrow at 2 am. wish there were some lockers i can keep my bags after i check out. any ideas to hold a backpack and a small rolling bag from 12 noon till 2 am?

there are rooms you can rent for 400 to 500 baht. rent a room, have some more fun and more importantly wash your ass before you get on the plane.

now is not the time to try to save a few baht.

Another display of my dizziness through this whole thing, I had got up and went out of the room without even noticing the blood stained pillow.

Standard room 1280 B. No need to take a Superior for 1480 B, the only difference is they are a little bit bigger.

Quietly located, if you take a room in the back. The rooms at the front have some noise coming from the Wonderful Bar across the soi.

Centrally located, only a 5 minute stroll to Beach Road and a 10 minute stroll to Walking Street. Plenty of beer bars in the neighbourhood.

Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious rooms with good bed, nice bath room, balcony, in-room safe, free wifi and an easy-chair. Swimming pool at the roof top.

So the Original Poster plans to check out of his Pattaya hotel at noon, then wander around town in the tropical heat for 14 hours before departing at 2:00 am There's only one reason to leave in the middle of the night, and that's to catch a taxi to BKK in advance of a Dawn Patrol departure. By which point the guy will have probably gone 20 hours since his last shower.

I sure hope he doesn't get the seat next to me on that flight.

In all seriousness, I realize that we're all thrifty guys here. But when you travel internationally it's common to arrive and / or depart in the middle of the night. Yes, it seems like a waste of money to pay for an extra night in the hotel when you're either arriving or leaving at, say, 2:00 am But it's a cost of doing business. If you're looking to economize, book a cheaper hotel, or even a basic guesthouse, for those days at the start and end of your trip. But do yourself a favor. Have someplace where you can lie your head and take a shower, someplace you know your belongings will be secure. It will be worth every satang.

Curfew ends at 4 am. Around 5:15 am I left the Marriott to walk the beach, see if anyone was out there. I found four girls directly across from Marriott / Mikes Shopping Center, turned North toward Hilton, saw three more girls, continued walking, three Lady Boys, walked a bit more and came upon three more girls. One was older, had a nice smile and nice shape so I stopped to chat. I asked if everyone had cleared out from midnight until 4 am to honor the curfew, Len said yes. Len said she went to her room and slept until 5, woke and came back to the beach. I asked about the Lady Boys, she said there seem to be more of them on Beach Road and they are around almost all day. I think this is true, since the curfew is prime Lady Boy time in Pattaya.

Len said short time was THB 500. The more we talked the more this seemed like a good idea, so we went to my room.
