1) Walk out of your hotel and turn left. When you get to South Pattaya Road (Pattaya Tai) turn left. Immediately you will see a club/disco called Bamboo on the right.

Most people reading this probably already know, but as of yesterday afternoon, all the bars officially stop serving alcohol, and most of them closed their doors.

A small percentage of bars appeared to stay open serving customers with the lights off.

Presumably, this sad state of affairs will continue until at least the election next week.

Bad bad info! Bars closed at 6pm and were to open at 2400 hrs next day, but around Soi Buakhao most had reopened mid afternoon, so not even a 24 hour closure. I am told the same closure for election day, so everything open till then.

What is the current situation in Pattaya. Are the bars and hotels being overrun by people escaping the protests in BKK. Or are people staying away for the same reason. I'm thinking about a trip in Feb and want to get an idea of the current situation in Pattaya.

OK, but what's your problem? I've just come back from a 10 day stay, and yes, there are more and more Russians, but they don't cause me any hassle, and they're certainly not competing for the girls. I didn't see any Chinese. Are you sure they weren't Korean or Japanese? And Indians I do think have some behaviour issues, but again not enough to cause me any problems.
