Yes, exactly that is what I really meant. My drink was quarter full when I was asked by at least two different waiters if I wanted another drink. Also, I was barely 15 minutes in the bar.

I agree! I like to drink slow, not because I'm cheap, but rather I don't want a night of whiskey dick when I get back to my room and I like to simmer a good buzz, not get falling down drunk and lose my wits about me. They do tend to shove the drinks at you. I once ordered a beer, told the server I like to drink slow, gave him 150 baht tip. He nodded at me and left me alone for a good hour while I sipped my beer. When I lift, I dropped another 80 baht on the table.

If I owned the joint I would make sure anyone who sits does spend money, else they get the boot. If they drink slow, fine, just as long as they did spend money and do not nurse their drink for too long.

You would lose this bet because although there are no cover charge for bars, the unwritten rule is that you will have to buy a drink if you want to sit for 30 minutes. I have never seen anyone just enter, take up space and not buy a drink. I have seen people nurse their drink or finish their drink and still stay in the bar as the one drink minimum rule applies.

I decided to check out Baccara. I was not impressed by the quality of the girls, and the show was mediocre. Also, the waiters were very pushy asking you to buy more drinks all the time.

Walking Street is undoubtedly now a 'tourist attraction', with all the stuff that goes with it. A freelancer who charges 500 bht ST on Beach Road suddenly charges 1000 bht ST as she enters Walking Street. I rarely go into walking street nowadays, although there are a few attractions. I still enjoy the shows in Angel Witch, there are some raunchy bars, and there is undoubtedly some good eye candy about.

Today was 'School Child Day', or something, and the traffic was crap. I was heading for the Beer Garden for breakfast on my scooter and gave up in disgust around Pattaya Klang.

There was a party opposite my favourite bar in Soi 6 this evening and the noise was unbearable, so I moved on down. I met and remet a SYT at 'Sexy in the City', who explained that she was heading off to Hollywood Disco at 11pm. I went for an early session with her, which not only was extremely good, but also enabled me to catch the second half of Spurs vs Coventry. 1-0 to me and 2-0 to Spurs. Great results all round!

There is no reason for prices to be raised. Then Thais could not afford Thailand. They use baht. The only thing prices will be raised on are things like gold where the market price is in US dollars. Also, things that are imported that dollars are used to pay for will take more baht to buy. The bright side is that my rent has gone down. 4500 baht used to be $150, but now it is $136! If this keeps up then I might buy a condo.

I am a regular visitor to Soi 6, and have been used to paying the standard 700 + 300 baht charge. On my last visit I noticed more girls were asking 1000 + 300, and I have heard it suggested that this is now the going rate? Any comments?

And what does that make the going rate for LT? Previously I was paying 1500. 1800 + bar fine, and didn't have any complaints. I am reluctant to up this as 2500 baht total starts to seem relatively expensive for a Soi 6 girl.

I got this one or two times on my last visit in late 2012 and I walked to other places. For ST 1000 is the price, all inclusive, too many options to pay more than that.

Why would they? The average Thai girl is not currency trading. It matters not a jot to her what the exchange rate is (unless the price of rice goes up, and that is controlled by the state). And of course they didn't drop prices when the baht was strong.
