I looked at Tam and asked,"What happened?" She just looked down at the floor and said "Sorry." So we headed back out to beach road and grabbed a baht bus back to Walking Street. I already had a suite with a bath tub on the balcony. I wasn't going to go pay for some dirty short time room somewhere. I wanted to return her to the club and get my money back. We get back to the club and I tell one of the waitresses that I want to see a mama-san. They find the same one that I paid the barfine to. The same one that assured me Tam had I'd and everything was fine. I said,"She doesn't have I'd." They talked in Thai. Tam looked like she was about to die. I guess I was causing her to lose face, but I just wanted to know what the hell was going on. Mama-san looked straight at me and said "She have I'd but she can't show it to your hotel because she is 16 and they won't let her in." "She's 16?" I looked at Tam,"You're 16?" No response from her. I told the mama-san I wanted my money back. She ran over to the bar and returned with my 600 baht and said something in Thai to Tam while gesturing at the stage. I guess she was probably telling her to go change and get back to work. I looked right at the mama-san after Tam walked away and said "If she had told me she was 16 I wouldn't have bar fined her." The mama-san just turned her head and looked away without saying anything.

They know she's 16. They don't care. They're pushing child prostitution.

I went back to my hotel and thanked the front desk staff for saving my ass.

I believe that you get a better rate for the 100 bills? Do whatever you need to get a better rate but don't be obessed about it. I still remember a guy walking in the hot sun in Bangkok because he thought he could get a better rate on a Thai broom. He walked his ass off and his shirt was nearly soak in the back and he felt he beat the guy because he got the broom for 35 baht instead of 40 baht. While he was walking away from me I was thinking how can I know such a stupid F-ker? And today he still does the same thing and over pays for pussy?

For that short period I would bring the cash (2, 000) all in nice Hundreds. You should be able to get a pretty good rate even at the airport. Right now the rates is around 30. 79, at the ATM you might get 30. 63 with a ATM charge of 150 baht for each transaction and most likely in general you will be charged 1% at home? It should also be noted that most USA bank will only distribute $500. 00 maximum a day (24hour period). Right now based on the rate I could get 16, 000 baht. As noted some ATM here in Thailand will only give you 10, 000 baht and if you are asking for more the machine doesn't give you much of a explanation which can be disturbing if you ever got ripped off by a ATM here?

Bring the cash and have extra in your ATM account in case there is a emergency?

Go to the ATM once every week or ten days and withdraw 20 000 baht (650 USD). Keep these in the safe in your hotel room (make sure your hotel offers this service). Some ATMs have a maximum amount of 10 000 baht. So avoid these brands.

And the Thai bank who owns the ATM also charges you for each withdrawal (150 Baht, if I remember well). So I arrive "in country" with some cash that I change at the airport. Not the best rates, but I exchange only enough to tide me over the time until I find a better rate or can withdraw some larger amounts. Hotels and fancy restaurants are settled with a credit-card, so the cash money of for small things and P4P and hence I usually withdraw cash money once a week only.

1) money exchange.

- before leaving the us i inform my atm & credit card issuers that i'll be using my cards in los.

- i obtain most baht from patts' atms for the best exchange rate (my bank reimburses me the b150 ($5) atm fee) or via the exchange windows.

- before leaving the bangkok airport (aka suvarnabhumi) for patts i have b1, 200+ ($40+) to pay for the taxi or shuttle ride. after exiting the luggage pick-up carousel, there's x / see windows, atms & a mini-mart (for a drink / to break large bills).

- on a patts outing i carry a copy of my passport (champagne gogo once asked for my passport to allow admittance) & enough spending money for the day (if i run out i know i've used my budget) ; don't carry atm / credit cards unless i intend to use them. i prefer to have a combinations of bills but lots of b20 for tips / in case vendors don't have change, coins b10 for baht bus and b5 for pay toilets. in my room i keep accessible b1, 000, b500, b100+b100, b20 to make payment to the escort for the exact amount (ie st escort b500+tip taxi b20, or perhaps lt escort b1, 000+tip b200+taxi b20) in case my wallets empty.

2) at the tourist info booth (police kiosk on br near entrance to ws or the avenue mall) grab current patts guidebooks, maps, brochures of tourist activities i may try.

3) i tell the jasmine hotel to empty my room's mini-bar / fridge so i can fill it with stuff from friendship mini-mart (facing the ws entrance sign, walk left / eastbound on south pattaya road, the mini-mart is on your right before 2nd road) or friendship supermarket (continue on south pattaya road for about half mile (1 km) and it'll be on your right-side). the big c / major supermarkets are also good for cheap supplies. supplies i typically pick-up on day 1 or 2: ky jelly, condoms, sleeping pills (alleviate insomnia) , shampoo, mouthwash, q-tips, sunscreen, drinks, snacks.

4) drug stores (don't buy stuff off a guy on the street) : carries real viagra, knock-off viagra and kamagra (generic viagra) , a pack is b500 ($17) but i negotiate & buy multiple packs so i pay b250 ($8) per pack

- special k: 1 pack has 4 tablets. 100 mg / tablet = 8 doses when using a ½ tablet (just bite into it & place the other ½ back into packaging for later use) or 4 doses when using a full tablet for max effect.

instructions for special k (i have no experience with cialis or the gels) :

- take 25 min before a hard-on is needed (eg take it when she's showering & during foreplay it kicks in)

- works best / absorbs fastest if you take it on an empty stomach.

just need to present a passport (must present that for any future transactions at a bank) , a phone number (hotel / cellphone) & an address (your hotel's is fine). they did once charge me a b10 ($.70) fee for quarterly (monthly?) sms / text message account update but i told them that as i'm usually not in los, to discontinue that & not charge me the b10 fee. so now i pay 0 fees, get about 2+% annual interest & have a place to store some baht, get b20 bills & see some cute bankers / tellers. when i do move to patts, it'll be even handier. there's an scb on br just before the ws entrance, and there's one at the tukcom (electronics) mall on south patts road@soi buakhao.

section 2: timing / amateur fls.

- mid-nov to mid-feb high season has the best weather / higher hotel prices / most ladies so more johns jostling for the choicest escorts & more tourist to deal with; harder to negotiate lower prices with the escorts.

- fall & spring are shoulder seasons so ok weather, pricing & selection (summer is the rainy season)

- i now avoid songkran (water festival) which in patts lasts 7 days (in other parts of los it's only a few days). at the apr 2010 songkran i got tired of getting soaked every day, having white paste smeared on my face, & how the festivities dampened the p4p scene. songkran celebrations for one day would be more than enough.

migration pricing theory: ws is the biggest patts party zone (for tourists & thai women, escorts or non-p4p). of the escorts who party after work: after 1 am soi 6 employees go to ws (& the soapie girls after 2 am) , after 3:30 am gogos / beer bargirls head to ws especially ibar / insomnia. before midnight fl prefer st in hopes they'll get more sts or a lt later (if they did accept a lt before midnight, they want a premium). after midnight escorts (fl, gogos & bargirls) are more willing to do lt &/or accept a lower price (also applies to st pricing). at 1 am when fls from soi 6 become available & chances of a st john drops, that puts downward pressure on fl st / lt pricing. at 3:30 am the gogos / bargirls flood the fl market & johns are getting scarcer so the ladies' st / lt pricing power drops even more. so 3:30 – 6:30 am is my best chance to score off-duty gogos, bargirls, soi 6ers, ws fl or even an amateur fl when they're done partying they're more open to st b500 ($17) /lt b1, 000 ($34) since they may be tipsy, partied out & it's their last chance that day to get paid to get laid.
