Posts: 34thanks for responses guys. this is why i like this site to get helpful knowledge. i figured maybe there is a "best practice" for most things such as booking hotels. maybe agoda is better than orbitz. i've never used it before. i think since it's early sep the hotels shouldn't be books so maybe i will wonder a round a bit and see what i like in person.
one last question is i'm wondering an awesome "can't miss" place in pattaya for my first destination upon arrival. i've done bangkok and i guess in exchange i'd say some "can't miss" places there are thermae, [CodeWord900] bj bar, and rainbow 2 in nana. when i arrived at bangkok 6 months ago my first stop was [CodeWord900]. a fun start i'd say. thanks again.

It usually works out great. But, if you don't pre-book a room during a busy time, lets say Chinese New Year, most places will be sold out.

Posts: 34Thanks for info on taxi / question on hotel booking
Thanks for the info on taxi. I think I'm going to book ahead to get from the airport to Pattaya so I can pay around 1100. Now, I think I've decided on either LK Metropole or Pasadena Lounge for hotels. Both seem to come well recommended. Can anyone chime in on the best way to book your hotel? Direct with hotel / orbitz / or is it maybe better to book once physically there?
I guess I'm just wanting what will be cheapest and most hassel free.

Coconut Bar' raid by Pattaya Police.
Pattaya Police are currently undertaking a 'Social Order Crackdown' following orders from Senior Officers to clean up the streets of Pattaya, concentrating on all forms of anti-social behavior. It was the turn of women and men, suspected of working as prostitutes on Pattaya Beach to be targeted as part of the crackdown and in the early hours of Saturday 26 people were detained pending further investigations. The group who were taken from the beach which is affectionately referred to as the 'Coconut Bar' by some, consisted of 16 women and 10 transsexuals. They were charged with loitering and received small fines before being released back on to the streets, presumably to continue whatever they were doing in the first place

Its much easier to lose your passport if you carry it with you at all times in a bag. I got distracted for a minute by a personal problem. Soon my bag was missing.
Only take your passport when you really need it. Its much safer in the Hotel.

I prefer to discuss with police aware my original passport is in the hotel, than having to discuss with no passport at all as lost. I do even carry the color jpg copy in my phone and I-pod memories. There is a limited hassle you can get with photocopy, there is endless hassle with no passport at all.

Just a story about my first time in LOS. No pictures.
I was feeling nostalgic and a restless about my next trip to PI / LOS. Then, I remembered my rookie trip to LOS. I had read the forum (ISG) but it just didn't seem real to me at the time. They just seem like traveler's stories that were over-exaggerated, and most the guys seemed narcissistic about their conquests. Fc*K, I didn't not know what the hell I was in for when I arrived.
I am a young guy so I thought I would fake it all and buy a big back-pak as if I was about to go f'ing back-pakin' across the world. LOL. I bought a travel book and decided to spend my first night on Khoa San Road. It was really cool IMHO, I could have spent more time there. They had some killer live alternative-rock bands and my first Singha was awesome while in that mix. I walked aimlessly through the streets of Bangkok, from chinatown to the palace to eventually sukhumvit. What an enormous city. I lived on the internet until I found a hotel close to cowboy and poised myself for my first mongering night.
It was wild. All alone in the Thai city of angels and it was fast moving. Almost too fast. Going out clubbing after the go-go and getting hammered and dancing all night. Then shaggin with what little energy I had left. I decided I needed to slow down and I took a taxi to Pattaya not knowing WTF I was in for. I remember my first hotel. Flipper Lodge, towards the end of Soi 8. And I wanted to relax? LOL. All the bars. All the massage places. Street food. And the undiscovered soapies (which I later came back to Bangkok to experience again). I was on walking street and had visited more than a few bars (this is when I drank beer instead of low proof liquors with mixers now) and more than few beers. I think I was in Living Dolls when I see a tall stunner. I invited her timidly down for a LD. She pointed to herself and questioned "Me?", and of course I nodded yes.
That's when I found out that she was f'ing mute. Which, if you think about it, was kind of cool. Because, shit, the language barrier is a big thing in LOS. She was lively and fun. Entertaining. I BF'd her and took her back to the loom for some more sign language training. She was so eager to please, I felt that she was somehow over looked or farm fresh. She was so silent while trying to communicate, soft and graceful. But when we finally started to get into it, she grunted and exhaled like she was lifting heavy weights. When I began talking to her chest to chest. She motioned to me that she could hear me and it drove her wild, that p*ssy just got sloppy and everything got way sexy.
The girls in Bangkok were mercenary for sure, but this girl was straight out of Issan and I felt like I had discovered something simple and timeless. I didn't fall in love with heror anything so foolish, but I did fall in love with the idea that sex could be so simple. So uncomplicated. I wasn't a guy looking for something sexually exotic or deviant. But I saw it all there and respected those who did. It was disneyland, some guys hang around Adventureland, some guys Frontierland. But for me it was fantasyland and I was cool just being there.
There great thing about the mute girl (lek I think) was that she didn't call me, and her txts were short and sweet. We hooked up again towards the end of my trip, and I never saw her again.
Such is the way in LOS. Be safe out there.
