Its not the Thai's that are cheating, most of the walking street bars are owned by farangs who are looking for western kinda profits margin's.

I try to avoid farang owned bars and generally spend my time in soi 7/8/6...small small bars.
If we all boycott farang bars....the price in pattaya will go down in couple of days.

I agree with you that the bars on soi 7 & 8 are lively and fun. Walking down these 2 streets you are confronted with a totally different atmosphere. It is like another world compared to the high end Go Go bars off Walking Street. But the hard truth is the best looking girls (I don't know if that is important to you or not) are found in the Go Go's. When you find a really good looking girl on soi 7 or 8, the exception proves the rule. So I will continue to go to both locations to get the most out of my trip. My primary goal in visiting Pat is to have a great time with beautiful Thai girls. I don't care who owns the bar.

I totally 100% agree with you that the best Thai food in Pattaya is found in the small independently owned street stalls. Yummy!

OK, but not to be too preachy of this great holy Church I established yesterday on this forum called LDs and Bar Fines are for Tourists, Suckers, and Noobs, I will give an example from what happened last night.

Yesterday had dinner at one of those outside stands. Was a two eggs omelet, with onions, etc for 40 baht. As eating this extravagant meal (not bad except for the fact that they try to overcook and salt it to death) noticed was near a Thai bar. The Thai bars are really great. Almost unknown to farangs. Inside were 100 percent Thai females. All PT workers. Just began talking to a group of five gals. Asked them what they were drinking and they said whiskey shots, and they offered me a shot.

Now, this is what a LD should be -- and what this new established church is about --- the girl offering farang a free drink. Now, these Thai bars are really neat. Hidden. And very very cheap for drinks. I ordered a while back tequila and there were like eight or nine shots for about 40 baht !! This place caters to the Thais, and I guess their quality of drinks not great and profit margins very small -- but for fun exceeds any go-go.

Anyway, downed the whiskey and the gals and myself had a good laugh. I could have had any of them (three of them were in their 20s and quite cute). However had to meet a friend, and gave apologies and left. And yea, only in Thailand would I leave five hot gals to meet up with a male friend.

Most of the fights, pad up bills, non-performance, drugging have happened in farangs owned bars...farangs get beaten by thai's who are paid by farang owners. They are the ones who have made what pattaya is today, inflated lady drinks and beers.

What you have experienced is very true...i try to avoid farang owned bars and generally spend my time in soi 7/8/6...small small bars.

I guess the question should be 'are you more likely to get a positive response to the anal question if you politely and discreetly phrase the approach in Thai rather than blurting out "can I fuck your ass?"

You have to realize that for all but a very few Thais, even pretty crude English like this doesn't have the impact it does for us. You're actually more likely to embarrass them if you try to ask in Thai and get it wrong. That's one reason I seldom offer advice on how to say anything in Thai -- unless you have some grasp of the language, canned phrases in Thai just don't work as well as simple, direct English.

Some 10 days before actually arriving in Pattaya, I contacted DD in order to make a booking. My first choice wasn't available, so in a brief mail exchange they helped select a replacement.

* It is outdoors right on the beach. Air is fresh and cool. TVs often play 80s rock videos (Inx, etc).

* Best time for a large selection of girls is 7-8 PM.

* I was there at 11M. More than enough gals there. Generally a step above those I've seen in past.

* The food was pretty good. Slightly pricey (but do keep in mind that I cheap charlie at heart). I had a nice fish for about 250 baht.

* If you go, have the gal order your drink for you. If the gal orders you a beer, price is 40 baht. If you farang order a beer price is 70 baht.

* I ** gasp** bought two gals lady drinks. However, this in no way contradicts my religion of no lady drinks since they were freelancers. They bought me two Heinekens for 40 baht each (with my money) and saved me farang 30 baht each.
