We did that during the shutdown. But not all girls want to freelance and would rather keep their connection to a mamasan and the bar system for the time when they return to salaried pay. And there might still be a reason on some nights, weekends maybe, when there is some income from drink commissions and/or a second customer. That must be compelling enough or there would be no girls in the commision-only go-go bars and they'd all be freelancing. BTW, not all that many customers available being a freelancer these days either.

I could cut out the bar and the mamasan and just have those girls come over in the afternoon or 2-3AM, too, but choose not to do that. For one thing, I'm not so interested in fucking at those times. And for another I really like the service some mamasans have been doing for me even well before the shutdown. Worth the cost of a barfine and a LD for the mamasan, imo. I really don't want to cut out some mamasans. I'd rather keep them doing for me what they do and not rock the boat.

If they are on commission-only, then I'm guessing there is no penalty for them not showing up. And unless they know there is a very good chance of being barfined by a trusted customer, they have no reason to ride the train or taxi into the area, suit up and stand on the stage for 4-5 hours.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens in Patters after amnesty ends and all the dudes riding it out are gone. Drain will be open but the tap won't be. Nothing left but locals. How many places will survive? In BKK it is already pretty dire in the P4 P areas after about a week or two of re-opening euphoria. Will be a tough haul I think. Bars, gals, etc will have to rethink their strategies and gear towards residents. And that is a whole different ballgame. Those that are willing to adapt just might make it through. I remember when the bars relied on locals to keep them going through the low season. But that was a long time ago and I would imagine there are very few that remember those times.

I know a couple of go-go girls who call me to ask if I will be going to their bar tonight, tomorrow, the next day, when and will I please come see them? If I tell them I am not coming to see them, they don't bother traveling into the area and going to work at their bar. If I tell them I will probably come by to see them tonight or whatever, then they come to work that night. LOL. An unintended consequence of the growing "commission-only" system, possibly. Mass tourism will not return till sometime next year it seems.

More realistic assessments from airline professionals suggest it will be closer to 2024. By then things will look a lot different. The masses won't be returning to the same places, because the places will have changed to adjust. You can't go home again.

They will probably just go back home again. I was reading an article yesterday where a gogo girl said she will stick it out until high season. Maybe she doesn't realize there is no high season if tourists can not enter the country.

I agree with that assessment. Mass tourism will not return till sometime next year it seems. Some oily gals in BKK have already bailed and headed back home. At one of the BJ bars the gals are getting a customer every other day on average. It's amazing how the balance between locals and tourists has changed over my two decade tenure here. The P4 P industry is far more reliant on tourists now. Of course there are more farang dudes living here than there were back in the day (maybe this year has seen a decline), but the vast majority don't monger. In fact, almost none of the younger ones do. They look upon us as dinosaurs or neanderthals.

Haven't been to Patters since before the lockdown. Might head down next week to have a look see.

Are we behind I times when it comes to judging looks? Why? Look at Jennifer Paweensuda who won Miss Thailand 2019. Her facial features are not soft or that feminine at all. She has a sharp mixed look, which is very much cherished in the Thai culture just as it is in the Filipino culture with "mestizos. " You can prefer or like what you like, but you better adapt to whatever new standards are set by those beauty pageant judges whose opinions count more than ourselves. Or else you get left behind and one day you wake up and realize you are attracted to trolls while the world has moved on. It's called, catching up with times.

I don't think Miss Thailand is a realistic reflection of modern tastes. Advertising is a better indication and is full of ultra feminine faces and bodies, mostly Chinese looking which I like.
