Posts: 2417Stay in Pattaya or hunker down somewhere else?
I live in hotels, no rental. I begin to see restaurants and malls shuttering down or closing early, buffet breakfasts in hotels getting thinner. Does this only reflect a lack of business or is it a prelude to a generalised shortage?
I'm in two minds as to whether to wait this out in Pat or to head for the beaches by bus (Ko Chang, Ko Kood). The risk of getting infected should be less on a remote island but will the food supply chain be maintained that far?
Health care is available in Pattaya but I'm not counting on that to save my ass if I get seriously ill. If people start dropping like flies the locals will be prioritised. It is more food and shelter I'm worried about.
Would heading for the beaches be foolish at this juncture?

1. Those who have winter at that time in their home country.
2. Those who want to fuck Thai pussy regardless of the time of the year and don't mind hot and humid weather with occasional rain showers.

Posts: 492One of the bars on naklua has bar covered over with a sign that says restaurant. Two girls in hot pants were standing out front and waved me to go in. I might go back later and have a beer.
I've been in thailand 3 months but just got to pattaya on Tuesday. It was terrible timing on my part. .

Dare I go on to say that in 15 years I have had only 3 chicks ask me for a contribution or a loan. 1. A few months ago this chick said she was in dire straits. She was willing to work the money off but I was not in town. I told her no. 2. A friend of mine was having a baby last May when I advised her against it (of course the American dude was going to run off before the baby came) and she asked for money to move into a bigger place before the baby came and I said no. 3. Last year another friend asked for 6000 baht to rent floor space for 1 day at Royal Garden Mall to sell clothes and I told her no. And to this day all 3 of those chicks are doing just fine and we are still in touch.
So guess what? Nobody is starving and in dire need around here. If somebody tells you that they are in desperate need of YOUR money right now then they are full of shit and just looking for something for nothing; ain't no "in serious need, life or death" situations going on around here man. Stop being blinded by the pussy.

Whether its a pandemic, a financial crisis, a political crisis / war zone that turns people's lives upside down its always the less fortunate that suffer the most. It's human nature to think of ourselves and families first but I feel it need not stop there. I feel those of us who live in Thailand and have made it our home have a responsibility to help where we can. If I had a relative back home that was in need of money I would of course help them first but the safety net in the west now more now ever will in the majority of situations be sufficient to see them through this. Not so here. Depending on one's individual circumstances I would suggest we try to help girls we have gotten to know over the years and who are in serious need. A few hundred baht here and there goes a long way in a village in Essan. Just my two cents.

They didn't always work in Pattaya.. They are going right back to what they did before they had jobs here. One of my massage chicks spent the night the night before last and her sister made the 6 hour drive to pick her up yesterday. She said she was going to go back to milking the cows for a few months. Said they have 10 of them. These chicks are from farms. They will be able to survive much longer than our city asses that have to depend on grocery stores for our food.

I went to this chick's condo in Jomtien last night. Got in the elevator and they had markings on the floor of how everyone is supposed to stand. She was reading something about malls would close. I said not in Pattaya. She said but Pattaya would be next. So she wants me to take her around and buy some things today.
She also talked about almost going to Korat with a friend. While we were together the friend sent her a message that she better be glad she did not go. They are putting people who are arriving into other cities in 14-day quarantine and that is what happened to the friend.

Posts: 6308Whatever that place is beside Panda, notice they are all Farang and none of them appear to be wearing a mask or practicing Social Distancing.
Was at a supermarket today loading up on my toilet paper. 2 security guards lined up too close for me. Store manager quickly ran up to them to tell them to stand behind the line taped on the floor. The 2 security guards told the manager they are mall security so these rules didn't apply to them. Manager booted them from the store for not practicing Social Distancing. Is Social distancing being enforced in Pattaya yet? How do they enforce it on baht buses?

Made a walk in Walking Street tonight, just to see what it was like. So empty and deserted with only a few restaurants open. There is a place selling ice cream (to the left in one of my photos below) and they had enough customers but that was the only place that looked kind of normal. I saw a group of police on motorbikes going through to check that the rules were obeyed. I also saw two white pick up cars driving and I didn't know what their mission was. I had a girl coming over to my room tonight, that normally works in a massage parlor, and I showed the photo to her and she said that is police ready to pick up and arrest hookers working illegally.
