I always had mixed feelings about Barbarella but I am sad to see yet another place closed down for good.

There were definitely some stunners who passed through their doors. It was never a place where I could truly relax. Always had to be on guard for some shenanigans by the wait staff.

I don't remember if I have the details exact, but I recall a waiter putting down a bottle of open whiskey on the table of some young American guys. The waiter told them he would only charge them for what they drank. Of course, they got hosed on the way out.

The last time I visited Barbarella, it was clearly in its last gasps. I used to pull some real hotties out of there. Used to be OK for me as long as I avoided the taxis out front charging triple the price! I remember one time I told a girl that if she wanted to use one of those taxis, then the difference between what I would paid for a regular taxi was coming out of her money. You should have seen that tute get to stepping down the street in the other direction LOL!

They can't sue. , the cost and resources it would take would be extremely high and the process would be very complex and difficult. Brazil is not a Foreign Reciprocating Country, meaning the US doesn't enforce child support payments to that country. Now, if you fuck around and return to brasil, you may have legal trouble if a girl claims you got her pregnant and then didn't support the child.

Everything else notwithstanding, Brazil IS an OCSE country.

At times the internet service in Rio is better than in the US. In some places infrastructure is relatively new. I have spent months at a time in Rio using bandwidth heavy applications at all hours without issue. In the US, ISPs routinely do maintenance late night or reduce bandwidth (they assume no one is online and can get away with charging you for reduced service levels).

However, it was a little bit of a challenge to get the initial service at the apartment. I would hear a knock on the door, paper is then thrown under the door and rapid running down the stairs. The paper said that the service tech had tried for 30 minutes to contact the apartment owner. This happened twice. My guess is he was visiting his girlfriend and charging the company for his time. Happened to see the local cable supervisor on the street that week and told him the story. He gave me an appointment time and they arrived right on time and were very apologetic.

Which service did you use? How much was it? Was the internet unlimited like the US or do you get a pay for gigs of data?

NET was the ISP. The internet was unlimited in terms of use. Like the US you pay more for higher speeds which I needed.

Current plan prices are listed and pretty obvious even if you do not speak Portuguese.

As a warning, I rented an apartment one time with internet access included. I was using it for VOIP as well. Right in the middle of an important call, the tenant next door did something to knock it out.

Sounds like you plan to get your own service which is recommended if your business depends on it.

You should also be aware that it is not unusual for Brazilians to try to piggyback on your connection (called gato).

If internet service is essential, you might want to consider a backup plan like a mobile hotspot or using your cell as a hotspot.

Since this pandemic may be in effect until next year, I was thinking (For a friend of course). Why not take a laptop to Copa and take advantage of the 5/1 rate for the next 6 months?

FYI: I was a frequent Rio visitor. From '05-'12 I was there anywhere from 3-4 x / a year. I would stay at the same apartment. I arrive in July '08, there was a warrant waiting for me with the door guy claiming neglect of child support. Got a lawyer, paternity test, squashed it rather quickly. They can sue if they file the necessary papers and serve you while in Brasil.

That's why I like to mix it up and keep them tutes off balance and guessing! Most don't know when I'm arriving or where I'm staying, and I never ever stay in the same place over and over. Hell, they may not even know I'm in town hahaha! Got one I went bareback with in the Philippines calling me. I told her dumb ass to stop calling me at 2 and 3 in the morning my time! Kept doing it, so I blocked her ass. At least she never said, "I'm pregnant, and it's your baby". Damn straight it isn't mine! I pulled out, and I pulled out on time!

Unless you're bringing the girl to a short time hotel, couldn't a determined lawyer get all your personal info from the hotel you stayed at?

Unless you were accused of murdering someone and it was the police that was inquiring, I would have to say no on that one.
