I'm not sure that's a fair statement. However, it's true that the monger scene in Rio has changed. Some blame the Olympics and Rio's government's desire to be "respectable". Is it true? Who knows? Is it the paradise it once was? Heck no. But that does not mean that you should not go. However, you do need to temper your expectations. I think what's happened is that the the "semi-pro" (the cashier or waitress who hangs out in bars and turns tricks for extra cash) has been driven underground. The hardened pros you mention are what is still easily visible. Similarly, Termas and Clinicas offer a more "clinical" experience (pardon the pun). If you are looking for a true GFE in Rio, you need to look deeper and accept that it's going to take time hanging out in bars and clubs and picking up girls just like you would at home. The only difference is that once chemistry is established, the question of price quickly comes up in the conversation.

The Rio club scene has basically been destroyed by the city over the last eight years......I would suggest checking out 4 x4 (Centro) and Solarium (Jardim Botanico) first. I like the party scene at 4 x4. You can expect to pay around US $ 120-$125 for the girl and entrance. If you arrive early and session with a girl at 4 x4 before 6, you will save the entrance fee of about US $ 20. Since you will likely want to stay near the beach Copacabana or Ipanema, you might want to check out Centaurus and Monte Carlo in the same area which cost more money. Centaurus has some fans. It at one time was known for the hottest girls who appealed to Americans and Euros. It's hit or miss now.

Given there has not been a lot of travel reports for some time and local politics has been discussed in the forum, I suppose you can be forgiven for a newby question like the above. No, politics hasn't changed the local mongering scene. The election is not final until Oct. 28 and no one knows if anything will change.

The Rio club scene has basically been destroyed by the city over the last eight years. There are some freelancers at Mabs and sprinkled elsewhere. That doesn't mean you can't have a blast in Rio both mongering and touring.

Termas are the closest thing to clubs. They however are not exactly like clubs. You change into a flimsy, terrycloth robe in the locker room. When you hit the bar area, dozens and dozens of girls parade around in various states of undress. Now if you don't like the business model of termas, you can try to get phone numbers and get a girl to come over. Don't expect more than a two hour meeting. It means you fuck one hour for 180 reais. The owner of the so called terma is also the owner of Mosaic.

I have no idea which terma the OP is thinking of but I was in a terma close to Cancun the other day and it fits in in the price structure that he is mentioning. One hour for 200 Reais but I didn't see anything mentioned about a discount of 10%. Entrance was 30 Reais which could be used for consumption in the bar. The terma was quite big, or at least it was in many floors and I believe four floors or so in total. Whiskeria plus other areas and a wet sauna and showers. I like saunas but their sauna was bad because it didn't produce enough heat (steam) to warm up the sauna room. I believe I saw around 20 girls or so working and a couple of them were doable and I am thinking of coming back there next wek and try one of the girls. Monday is holiday (DIA do comercio) but they will be open on Monday despite it being a holiday. The terma is called Spa 65 and was in Rua do Rosario number 65, which literally is just around the corner from Cancun. I don't know if is recently opened and the one that the OP is thinking about but maybe he can let us know and reply to this to tell us.

As a change to the ongoing discussions about politics, I will provide some up to date information from termas Cancun. Over the last weeks I have making repeat visits to Cancun and when I first got here I noticed that the prices went up from last year. One year ago I paid 400 Reais for one hour and I believe it was 330 for the one hour with the girl plus 70 Reais for entrance including three drinks.

When I got here a couple of weeks ago I noticed that the entrance was up from 70 to 80 Reais making one hour come to 410 Reais. But the last time I was charged 380 which was 300 for the girl and 80 Reais for entrance. I thought that I was charged wrong and that they made a mistake and charged me for only 40 minutes which could have explained the 30 Reais missing. But today I was charged 380 Reais again so it wasn't a mistake and I could see in my bill that it was 300 for the girl and 80 for entrance with drinks.

It just feels so surprising that a terma actually will lower the prices and I never experienced it before. Maybe they have realized that they will need to do something like this to attract more customers. And they also have their lottery going on everyday with the draw at eight o'clock. I have participated in the lottery six times by now but I haven't won a 40 minute session, of course.
