This particular video may be fake but the fact that thieves steal phones from Brazilians (firsthand knowledge of one instance at gun point and many others) and tourists (firsthand knowledge of many) is not.

They usually have scouts who travel by motor and identify easy victims then contact the actual thief who knocks it out of the victim's hand, picks it up and runs. My Brazilian maid was hit on the head and hers stolen. My Brazilian girlfriend had hers stolen while she was talking to me. In Brazil I only use cheap Brazilian phones.

I also use a cheap phone, when I leave my cheap phone in a place. Nobody is interested in stealing it. When I go out, I just take money I need and a cheap phone. I dress like an average Brazilian. (casual clothes). In Rio de Janeiro, the more you show, the more problems you encounter.

I live in So Paulo, one technique is to target people standing at a bus stop, on the curb waiting for the signal to change. The people are often victims of thieves on motorbikes who will zoom by at high rates of speed and actually snatch the phone from your hand. I must have seen this happen many times in the last 5 yrs. Typically, the victims are women standing alone on not so busy streets.

Ciccolina (has a new name now that starts with M) are all in that general vicinity close to Mabs.

Ciccolina is now called Marrakech Cafe. I popped in with some locals, one night, last month. They don't have a lot of seating. They Now have 2 back rooms to use with the GDP"s there. There were maybe 8 GDP's. Strip shows every 45 min, more or less. It's dead before 12 a, gets busier around 2 a. Because one of locals knew the door man, they didn't hit us with the cover charge.

I'm staying in Ipenema so I will most likely be hitting Centauras -Solirium and Monte carlo's -any night clubs worth hitting up? Doce vita Mabs? That's it?

Besides Dolce Vita, there is Casa Blanca on Rua Duvivier, which is around the corner from Dolce Vita (opposite of the corner where the park is located). There is also Kalabria on Belfort Roxo, across from the park that's between Dolce Vita and Mab's, next to the Bob's. Barbarella's, Sensoo and Ciccolina (has a new name now that starts with M) are all in that general vicinity close to Mabs. If you are in that area, plenty of dudes passing out flyers trying to get customers to those spots.

I don't have any experience at these spots, but those are some of the available night options in Copa, beside Mab's.

As far as termas, seems like 4 x4 is the better deal of the major termas. I took a pict of their price list a few days ago and it's as follows: 270 r -30 minutes Cabine, 390 r-1 HR Suite, 450 r-1 HR Super Suite, 520 r- 1 HR Colectivo, 600 r- 90 mins Suite Rei, 650 r- 90 minutes Suite Sultao, 700 r- 1 HR Suite 2 x1. $60 r entrance waived if you take a girl before 6 pm. I have no idea about any of those suites besides the basic cabine for 270 R, so don't ask me what they mean. LOL. They also don't charge extra if you use a card like other places do.

Basically a program with one girl, 40 min, including entrance, the room, the girl, runs between 500-600 reais, depending on the particular Terma and if youre paying by cash or card.

Thank you -this helps -any advice as to a balcony bar or help like club I guess from reading treads that Mabs and Dolce vita are only Rio night clubs for working ladies?

Wow! Prices are high! I've not been to Rio in 5 years, but I think I will stick to the clinicas in Sao Paulo at 150-250 per hour.

I went to the brasilian parade in NYC yesterday, it was fucking packed with people. I have never seen that many people like yesterday! Oddly, I only saw about 4 former GDPs, normally, I see many girls that I knew from Copa, but very few in attendance yesterday. I spoke to one who mentioned that Marcelo (Young dark skin brasilian who claimed that he grew up in NYC was dead) Marcelo used to work MP / Help every day. He spoke excellent english, so he would hustle the brothers for a few dollars offering to translate or hook them up with different girls. I knew he was going thru some rough imes ever since he got divorced but I was hocked to hear that he had passed away. Anyone know if this is true?
